Blimey. Feagles has been punting for two decades.

We aren't talking about production, we are talking about talent. From a player personal stand point, the Dolphins aren't substantially better. Their coaching staff is and their general management is light years better - but the talent isn't.

I don't "bash" all these young and up coming teams, in fact it's just the opposite. The Dolphins, however, aren't a young and up coming team. They are an old and up coming team.

And yes, I am a Lions fan. However I only became a fan of the Lions this year. Its a team that is built exactly how I would build a professional team. Plus I have a man crush on Jim Schwartz that would make Stafford jealous.

I wish more people would talk about how horrible the Jake Long pick was a few years. I predict Long will eventually be moved to RT and Lydon Murtha will be their left tackle.

:lmao:... you just lost all credibility as a fan of an NFL team as far as I see it.

The Detroit Lions in 2008 were the worst managed, worst coached team in NFL history. Period.

The Detroit Lions in 2009 are far from it.

I look at the Detroit Lions 2009 offseason as essentially an expansion preseason. They got rid of most of the roster and almost all of the coaches.

I am not endorsing the 2008 Detroit Lions in any shape or form.

I am endorsing the 2009 Detroit Lions. Because they have been nearly flawless since the season started in every aspect of BUILDING a team.

Martin Mayhew has proven to be a shrew, intelligent GM. Does anyone argue that Mayhew DIDN'T pull one over on Jerry Jones in the Roy Williams trade? He then picked up some 2010 draft picks by signing and trading Kevin O'Connell and some low round 2009 draft picks.

Jim Schwartz is such a ridiculously perfect choice for Detroit as a head coach its almost crazy. A brilliant, big picture head coach with a Belicheck/Fisher pedigree. His abscence is the largest factor to Tennessee's 0-6 record. He has had years to prepare to be a head coach and his philosophy is very similar to my own in terms of both play calling and team building.

The team identified that the Lions identity should rest with it's offense. They drafted a franchise hugely talented QB to go with freak Calvin Johnson. You can argue whether Oher would have been a better pick, but Brandon Pettigrew helps both in the air and on the ground.

Defense depends so much on scheme, so simply replacing Marinelli and Berry for Schwartz and Cunningham is huge. They Lions drafted three instant starters of defense, brought and brought in two talented linebackers (Peterson, Foote). The defense still needs work. They don't have two starting caliber cornerbacks. They do, however, have one of the most underrated defensive ends in Cliff Avril (a second year player who led rookies in sacks last year).

So yea, it's easy to be intellectually lazy and laugh at the notion that the Lions are a well built football team - but the NFL changes quickly. Just as the Falcons went from chaos to playoffs, the Lions have made a similar turn around. They won't be playoff bound in 2009, but they are well on their way to being a top NFL franchise.

Lions won't be competitive in that division for another three years minimum, barring season ending injuries to Rogders or Cutler. And if the Vikings are able to acquire a QB for the future forget about it. They might be on the right track, but they are going nowhere in the forseeable future.

The Vikings will snag one of the big 4 qb's this year in Clausen, McCoy, Mallet, or Bradford, and have him sit next year under Favre.

Lions have handled themselves pretty well. Schwartz is on paper a good choice for head coach. They have the games bet young wide receiver. A young qb with a lot of upside. Serviceable young running back. Defense is ok but theyve got the right people in charge.

I think theyve had themselves a pretty good year in a long-term perspective. It will take more solid drafts and some luck for them to make the playoffs in 2010 or 2011, but after that I would assume they start to click.

“I just did not feel like at that point he gave us the best chance to have the success we needed to have offensively and made the move. JaMarcus will continue to be our starter. There is no issue there.”
If I ever get to feeling down about my teams, I look at the Raiders....and I feel a lot better.

For as poorly as Russel has played, who else are they going to start? He had crazy chemistry with Schillens before he got hurt, they need him back desperately.

Delhomme isn't the worst Qb in the league that is starting...but he's not the best.

Carolina is now 2-4...and this sucks. For some reason I'm not too worried about it...but it be nice if Carolina can somehow win any of the next 3 games.

@Arizona
@New Orleans
Atlanta (be at this game in Charlotte...hopefully it is somehow still meaningful)

Delhomme needs to settle down. Running game is finally here and the D is good...but turnovers...

I wonder if a QB with any sort of work ethic would make any difference.

Heck no they better not beat the Saints.

They wont if Delhomme is still playing. Heck Sharper will get about three picks on him.

I wasn't watching Sunday Night Football for most of the last few hours.....I was watching the ALCS.

Yankees FTW!

Although, both games within minutes of each other is interesting.
