Seymour's contract runs out this year and Oakland may franchise him if a contract can't be reached.

I did watch the Sunday Night Game when I heard a "Let's Go Yankees" chant at the Meadowlands.

No one up here cares about football this time of year when the baseball teams are in it. I am sure Giant fans are upset, but as long as the Yankees are in it they are good.

To go back to recent history, I am still shocked that SD didn't franchise Brees the year they just let him walk in FA. What a bonehead move by Smith. I don't know what their cap situation was at the time, but how you not even pick up a couple of picks for that is mind boggling. I mean they did work out decent deals for the Vick/Eli trades but they should have gotten at least a 1st round pick for Brees.

If I remember correctly Brees hurt his shoulder in the last game of the year and had major shoulder surgery to repair it. Not to mention they had Rivers waiting so.... I'm guessing some teams would have some reservations about trading for the guy.

Wow, just when Raiders finally beat a great team (Eagles), and Seymour running his mouth and making guarantee about making a playoff, they lost to the Jets at home, by a lopsided score of 38-0. At least JaTubby Russell (with an extremely awful performance even by his standard) finally got benched, although their backup didn't play that much better either.

Btw, what's with the Giants? Losing to Saints was bad enough, but they lost again to Cards at the Meadowland. Looks like they aren't running way with their division title just yet.

ok show of hands here, who wants to punch Russell in the mouth

JaMarcus Russell refused to accept responsibility for his part in the Raiders' embarrassing 38-0 thrashing at the hand of the Jets.

"I don't think it's me personally, I really don't," Russell said. "Do you?" Uh, yes, JaMarcus. We do. The rest of the Raiders players issued mea culpas, but Russell continues to deflect blame despite his wretched play.

punch him in the mouth, you might lose your hand....Jeff Garcia said that Russell refused to even acknowledge he had a weight problem, so what makes anyone think he would accept responsibility for this?

did you see his fro hawk?

one of the worst players to ever play the game...

Hard to believe that Raiders want to trust the future of their franchise with this guy. :whatever:

Eagles are not a great team. This is what they are. They look like the best team one week, then they go out and blow it against one of the crapiest teams known to mankind. That's why they are 9-7 to 11-5 every year.

And people just overestimated the Giants talent this year. Their receivers are inconsistent. The vaunted D-line is not living up to potential. And Jacobs stinks. He has his patches here and there, but teams have shut him down for the most part.

10 Things for Cowboys Fans to Love about Sunday

Tim Cowlishaw/Columnist

Pick your own order of preference. Here we go.

1. Tony Romo -- Forget the 300 yards and all the connections with Miles Austin. The short TD pass to Patrick Crayton was the play that looked the most like the reason Cowboys fans fell in love with Romo in 2006.

If a QB can make the first pass rusher miss, there's a lot he can accomplish. Romo avoided three Falcons before running towards the line and flipping the TD pass to Crayton. Perfect.

2. Miles Austin -- It's not like 250 yards against the Chiefs was a fluke. That's too many yards to attribute to luck. But it was hard to know how long before Dallas fans would see a similar performance. Answer was one game.

More than 400 yards receiving in 2 weeks? Hard to remember a guy who flashed potential for as long as Austin without breaking through, then just smashed through the wall like this.

3. Run defense -- I know that the Falcons haven't looked much like the team that was No. 1 in rushing offense in 2008. Still, the Cowboys had this thing shut down almost from the start. That's the way a Wade Phillips is supposed to look. On this day, it certainly did.

4. Wild card -- You never know which regular season win is going to turn out to be most crucial when it comes to tie-breaker time. A win over the Falcons (currently 4-2) could turn out to be huge.

5. Wobbly Giants -- Capper on a perfect day for Cowboys fans was a terrible performance from the Giants offense most of the night against Arizona. After a lucky touchdown on a tipped ball made it 14-7 Giants, that game was all Cards. Do the Giants have enough weapons to be what they looked like against Dallas in Week Two? Maybe not.

6. Terence Newman -- Was that really No. 41 laying out a wide receiver in second half? I think it was.

7. Crayton's return -- After his demotion reached new heights of silliness only because the head coach didn't seem to know whether or not Crayton had been told that Austin was starting, it was a huge day for Crayton. After losing Allen Rossum on opening kick, Cowboys needed difference maker in return game -- and there he was.

8. Giants defense -- I mentioned their offense. Did I forget to say how little pressure the Giants got on Kurt Warner and how banged up that team is right now in the secondary? From a Super Bowlicious 5-0 to a very vulnerable 5-2 in two weeks.

9. Seattle coming -- We know strange things happen in the NFL. There's at least one big upset per week. But it's hard to see a wounded Seahawks team getting the best of Dallas next Sunday. And that being the case, a 5-2 record going into Philly is just what the Cowboys need to start looking like a team that's relevant again.

10. Romo -- OK, so he was No. 1. He takes enough of a beating when the team loses that he's worthy of two mentions for a high-percentage, high-performance day against a defense that has challenged others this season.

Saints look mighty impressive right now; they were down by 3 TDs early, and they were playing at Miami, and had everything stacked against them. They still won convincingly in the end. This could be the year that Saints finally win it all if they continue to play at this high level later in the season.

Saints and Colts are best in the NFL right now, well see how that goes by the end of the season

Article on Jets-Raiders game

It was so bad for Oakland that Russell, its former No. 1 overall pick, was benched in the first half after committing three early turnovers. This was the most lopsided home loss in the 50-year history of the Raiders (2-5). They were shut out at home for the fifth time ever, with four coming in the past four seasons. The crowd of 39,354 was the smallest since the team returned to Oakland in 1995.

Looks like even the hardcore Raiders fans couldn't bear to watch.

I was very impressed with Brees and the Defense yesterday.

"Still richer than u," Johnson wrote. "Keep goin. Come play our game oopps forgot you can't . . . . Make me regret it. Lmao. U don't stop my checks. Lmao. So 'tweet' away."
Too bad money can't buy him intelligence.
