Speaking of Tyree, did anyone else know that he's a diehard homophobe? Apparently said he'd would have rather dropped that famous pass and lost the Super Bowl than allow gay people to get married. What a dick.

:wow:

Well now I'm really glad Plaxico caught the touchdown pass.

It's from Sportspickle, lol. They write joke sports stories.

Most professional athletes are homophobes. I believe years ago Howard Stern was interviewing Lawrence Taylor and he told Howard how homophobic most players are, which is why you don't hear too many pro athletes coming forward saying that they're gay.

Yeah, that is unfortunately true. What I think makes Tyree such a *****e though is that that he actually felt a need to proclaim his bigotry on such a massive scale. He's basically saying that he'd rather negate the only significant thing he did in his entire NFL career -- and what some people view to be the greatest play in Super Bowl history -- if it meant he could keep two people who love each other from getting married. It just makes no sense to me. Gay marriage doesn't affect you if you're not gay, so I don't see why it bothers certain people so much that they feel the need to make idiotic statements like that.

Somebody should have reminded him that 60 years ago in certain places in this country he would have had to drink out of a different water fountain than white people. :oldrazz:

And if a white guy would have said the same thing he said, at least in this day and age, he would be crucified.

That aside...most homophobic people humor me because chances are, deep down, they are probably gay.

Heh, yeah, that is at the root of a lot of homophobia out there.

Unless you believe that Ted Haggard is "cured." :hehe:

I enjoy that they gave the panther in the new Panther's logo a fat lip. Seems fitting :hehe:

All those gays should go back to where they came from.

Tomlin interviewed Todd Haley. I personally am not crazy about the fit. I like Haley but I can't see him getting along with Rapistberger (but then again, maybe that is exactly what he needs....someone who will be his friend, not his boss). But Haley is notorious for throwing the ball. He may very well throw more than Arians. Strange decision. Maybe Tomlin's subtle way of saying, "Fine Mr. Rooney, you want to go over my head? I'll just bring in a guy who throws even more!"

Speaking of Rapistberger, he recently said this:

When I get back, I'm going to go up to Mr. Rooney's office and ask him what he wants from me, what he wants from this offense, because I think that's a viable question for him.

Apparently Ben does not know what viable means and thinks it is a synonym for valid. :o

Inside sources reporting: Peyton Manning sound asleep, dreaming of beating Eli in various schoolyard activities, no update on his possible retirement.

I like the prospect of Haley as OC in Pittsburgh. He likes to throw the ball, sure, but Steeler fans need to accept that it's a passing league. Running the ball MORE is not the same as running it effectively. I'd rather see Mendenhall get tackled in the backfield 15 times a game than 30.

But regarding the running game, Haley also had (I think) the #1 rushing team in the NFL in 2010. Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones are leaps and bounds better than Mendenhall and Redman, but perhaps Haley could use them better and finally solve our O-Line issues.

If I have a soul, that logo has caused it great harm...and before you all go "ooooooooh"...I hate certain changes.

Changing the Panthers logo happens to be one of them.

And I typed this message in Ron Swanson's voice from Parks and Rec.

Every time they show a close up of Eli Manning on Sunday, whisper "I see dead people!" and you'll be the life of the party. Trust me.

think the tweaks to the logo were an improvement. there was never a need for eyebrows on a panther. What your soul should really be upset by is the generic-looking wordmark they're going to use.

So your basis for this comment, is an interview with a convicted cocaine addict who has sex with underage girls in hotel rooms?

I personally do not think Haley's personality fits the current culture either, but maybe that kind of shake up is exactly what the team needs to snap out of their complacence. I would like to see someone like Russ Grimm or Tom Cable. Someone with a background in blue collar football who understands that the battle starts and ends on the offensive line and makes it a priority. Haley is more of that newer brand of O.C. who simply accepts, "Well, it's a passing league now." While that may be true, it is the kind of mentality that creates guys like Arians who are glorified QB coaches rather than coordinators for the whole offense. There is nothing wrong with passing the ball, but as this season has proven, if your quarterback isn't protected and there isn't a run game to force the defense to hold back the blitz, your quarterback won't be able to get the ball away.

If the Steelers hire Haley I imagine you'll hear a lot of "Nah Brah's" in his conversations with Roethlisberger

No it's just an example of hearing it come up many times from other athletes. Homophobia is a huge problem in all professional sports. How many professional athletes have you heard of who have come forward saying they are homosexual?

Just watched Larry Fitzgerald's interview with radio host Mike Francessa.

Could somebody please, somehow, some way, get that guy to New York?

For who the Jets?

Get Peyton to Arizona.

He signed a 8 year $120 million dollar contract last year. If there was a way, sure I'd love to have him on the Giants. No way could he Giants take on that contract and remain under the cap. And, the Giants have a solid WR threat right now. They should be looking for a RB for next year.
