2011 NFL Thread: Round 2!

Jackson basically ran personnel decisions following Davis' death and he really dropped the ball. He has apparently been very antagonistic towards McKenzie as once Oakland hired a GM he did not want to give up his power. Following his post-San Diego game meltdown, his termination was inevitable. He was never cut out to be a head coach. He was always only an Al Davis puppet. McKenzie wants to build a real team for Oakland rather than allow the cluster **** that has been the past 15 years to continue. He needs a real coach to do that. This firing gives Oakland fans a lot to be excited for, IMO.

I agree. Al David and Hue Jackson were both all too willing to give up first-round picks for expensive players that in the end aren't worth the picks that traded for them, and if Oakland wants to stop their perpetual cycle of mediocrity they have to adapt the models of successful franchises like Green Bay, to build their team from the ground up. No more of these shortcuts to try to get to the top from now on.

I'm not one who thrust Tebow into a higher level of QB but I think it's funny that with the Sanchez comparison, that Sanchez's hype is strictly based on his success in the Post Season. And now that the Jets s' the bed, there are louder grumblings that maybe he wasn't that "great".

Yeah, all the Tebow supporters keep saying "All Tebow does is win", but what happens when he stops winning? What else does Tebow has to show for?

It's funny... This is the first really good game (not 5 minutes of a quarter, not a quarter, but game) that Tebow has actually played.

Real quarterbacks... they have these kinds of games now and then...

I find the Sanchez comparison an interesting one, like Sanchez there can be long stretches between good games, but the funny thing is that Sanchez is a better passer but gets s*** on from above on the regular.

It is looking like Winston Moss will be the new head coach of Oakland. Very exciting time to be a Raiders fan, IMO.

The problem I have with Tebow is that, he is actually playing on a very underrated team with great defense, but he gets all the credit even though if you look at his numbers, he is quite average. However, since he "led" his team through some 4th Quarter comebacks, people want to anoint him as the Second Coming of John Elway. On the other hand, Mark Sanchez never got any of the accolades that Tebow got, even though he also has some average numbers but his team is also in the ultra-competitive AFC East, and not a mediocre one like AFC West. What's more is that Sanchez actually helped his team won 4 playoff games, all on the road, and gotten them to the AFC Conference Final for two straight years. The difference, people would argue, is that Sanchez had an elite defense (which I would also argue that Tebow has), and Sanchez has thrown more INT than Tebow (but that's because Tebow hardly throws at all).

So can people tell me why Tebow is called a "great player" but Sanchez isn't? To me these two aren't that different from each other, and both have alot of deficiencies that his respective team helped cover up.

Denver's defense is great, it truly is, but he seems to pass when it's in the right moment. Sometimes he misses his targets, sure, but when you only pass at a very low number, and the Broncos scored 29 points, he passed it, mostly, at the right and at the most perfect times. Plus, he's a freaking fullback when he runs with the ball and can hardly be stopped, imo.

And...Sanchez can never be shown as a "great" player because he's in an awful team that only got lucky with the Colts and Patriots last season and the Jets showed their worth this season. The Jets are a running team, but I want to see them work around Sanchez and get some better receivers.

Where has Tebow been called a "great player?"

Oh, just from writers, ESPN analysts, NFL analysts, etc....the people who don't know **** obviously

Last week before the playoffs began, some young kid at church was making an attempt at smack talk, he said of the Broncos "All Tebow does is win!"

Me: The Broncos are 8-8, and they have lost three in a row.

He didn't say anything else. lol

What is a pedal stool?

Yah, I don't get that....they make a song about Tebow and "all he does is win". He's lost four games; that's not true. Am I a huge supporter? Of course I am, but that song and phrase is dumb.

Crushing the dreams of kids at Church. I like it

we're gonna make the grass a tad bit wetter than normal. I drove past candlestick today and the grass is in need of water.:hehe:

SF needs to control the ball as much as possible, rest their defense, and keep Breeze off the field. Bore the Saints to defeat.

The world will root for Tebow to beat Brady.

Unlikely though, but you never know

They can very well beat the Patriots. The Patriots should beat them by a TD or two, but we've seen this movie before. The Patriots are evil and Tebow is good in this version.

Your avatar/pic/whatever it's actually called doesn't help when saying the Patriots are evil, lol.

You call Sanchez lucky, yet you don't acknowledge the fact that Tebow & the Broncos lost their last three games, and only won the division because of Raiders' gaffe against the Chargers.

I can acknowledge that...but no one has asked, hahahaha.

I KNOW Broncos got extremely lucky in getting in, and surprisingly they were the better team last weekend.

So you said that Sanchez can't be called "great" because his team got lucky making to the playoff, yet Tebow did the same thing but you have no problem proclaiming him as a great player?

Sanchez didn't exactly light up the postseason in 2009 & 2010. I think only 2 games above 20 points? Only 2 games above 200 yards and like 9 TD in six games.

He's a great QB. Sanchez has always been mediocre. Even when I followed both in college, Tebow was better in my eyes, and with the Jets, Sanchez has never been able to really go for the gusto, imo. Like I said, Broncos has been playing around Tebow which makes him great; Jets have never done that.

Lol, it's true...that looks freaky to me. I am a fan of Belichick though. I hate the Steelers, so this is a tough game for me to actually prefer one team over the other. All of the same this weekend are like that except for Texans and Ravens.

Either way that theme should be played

True.

I love me some Tebow. Imagine what the viewership is going to be for the Patriots vs Broncos. Through the roof.

Well you remember the whole controversy with NBC wanting that game during the season but CBS kept it? The ratings would've been very high for Sunday night.

So Tebow gets the credit since he "only wins", but when it comes to Sanchez it's not enough that his team wins, but he is judged solely on his stat? Oh, and Sanchez actually won on the road in the playoff, but Tebow's only win thus far is at home.

I don't think these two's college career should be used to judge which one is great, otherwise we can start calling Ryan Leaf great, as well. And Tebow is only great because his team plays around him? That sounds more like his team is great, not him.

Btw, I'm not saying that I think Sanchez is great, but I'm baffled that Tebow gets so much leeway but Sanchez doesn't.
