Yeah, but they kept both around and had a QB competition.

The next season, yeah...which was pretty much over before the first game when they went with Hostetler.

Who proceeded to get injured late in the season.

It never crossed over into the postseason.

Well, the question was asked what would the Texans do if they won the Super Bowl.

If the Patriots lose this weekend will people start to question Tom Brady at this point in his career? It would be 2 straight one and dones after securing the one seed, and 3 straight home playoff losses, should he lose on Sunday.

I called Denver over Pittsburgh and I am calling my second crazy upset of the season:

Houston over Baltimore. Houston's run game makes up for Yates' shortcomings as a rookie. In the end, this will be a tough defensive battle and I see Houston winning it in the last few minutes with a crucial field goal.
Denver over Pittsburgh played out like the trap-game it was.

I agree. I don't see the Patriots upset. I know they are my team so I should be more cautious, but with McDaniels, a much improved defense, a rested squad, home field advantage, and, let's face it, probably the [hypothetically] weakest of their three possible opponents I have a hard time picking against them. Call me crazy. Like SNL says: "who you have next week...the Patriots?...wow".

I also agree with Houston over Baltimore, but I'm gonna add something in support: the Texans are exactly the kind of team that beats Baltimore. If the Patriots win, I could see Baltimore mentally lapsing, as they do, against the Texans.

Well, I mean if Yates looks good then I would at least have a competition.

Not unless he has a particularly ineffective game...like with some big interceptions or the like, or if there's a health issue. And I think a lot of factors would have to be considered, like the Pats' D this year, or a O line that couldn't protect him. I think he's still too good to raise questions otherwise. If the D is giving up a lot of points, then he's probably going to be more pressed to compensate which can make any QB look bad if their chancing too much.

I'm a little late to the party but I'm glad to see the Steelers lose.

Put it this way...if he plays throughout and they win the SB....he's probably the one that would have to be beat out to lose the job, and/or Houston may have some valuable trade bait depending on the contract.

The Patriots want a win in the playoffs, even if it's just the first game. I think that'll make them take any opponent seriously enough to win.

Yeah, that snow, the freezing cold, and that ungodly wind chill are so bad in Miami. :o I think Brees can win on the road in the playoffs, but I don't think they'll survive Lambeau should they make it there. Too much of a homefield advantage to overcome.

Cold weather wasnt specified in the previous statement. They merely said "outdoors on the road."

And Brees went to Purdue. Cold weather isnt exactly a new concept to him. Not to meniton half the Packers roster is made up of guys from CA and FL. The media gives too much credence to the weather. Cold impacts both teams equally and usually doesnt amount to much unless you have insanely cold weather like that Chargers/Bengals AFC Championship game in '81.

All 3 Saints losses have been on the road, 2 of the losses being outdoors. The fact is the Saints have played in mildly cold weather once this year, against the Titans, they barely survived and only scored 22 points. Put Brees in the frozen tundra and I see less success.

The facts don't exactly support your conclusion. The Saints two losses outside this year were against Green Bay in early September when it was 80 degrees out, and at Tampa. You can't say cold was much of a factor there.

They also had 3 wins outside this year. Of all those games only one was played in sub 50 degree weather, the one you mentioned against the Titans (who finsihed 9-7 BTW), which they won.

That's an "inconclusive" at best. Keep in mind the Saints also got smacked around by the Rams in a dome.

If you look at the difference in points scored between home and away games this year...it's pretty drastic. Dome or SB in a warm area, not he biggest issue...but if they have to play SF and GB on the road against those teams, it makes them considerably more handle-able. Giants at N.O., that'd be a pretty darn big hill for NY...probably tougher than vs. Packers at GB.

But being away in more inclement weather/conditions doesn't make N.O. a joke...just not the juggernaut they are at home.

As a ravens fan I was joyed and kinda upset last night. I wanted the steelers to loose but first knock off the patriots and have to come here. But this is the next best thing, the steelers were one and done. That was a great disney movie.... Angels in the endzone.

Pretty much, I would have preferred the Steelers deal with the Patriots before their timely exit, but the fact of the matter is they aren't the same team that beat them earlier this season. The injuries just stacked up too damn high & if they played the same game they did against Denver, it would have been a disappointment. Better to send the Prophet up to Gillette Stadium to work a miracle.

Much like Terrell Suggs, I'm not predicting a Super Bowl win at this point, we still aren't where we need to be as an offense & we still have a tendency to contract situational blindness on crucial passes in the secondary.

We should beat the Texans if we keep Jimmy Smith OFF Andre Johnson.

I have no desire to see Tebow, Manning, or Brees take the Super Bowl this year. All three of them just bug me.

If Brady and the Patriots go, I would love nothing more than to see the Giants there.

While only scoring 22 points, while the previous 2 weeks at home he put up 31 and 49, and the last two home games they put 45 both times. It's obvious that playing in that mild cold had an effect on him, no reason to assume Lambeau won't effect him either.

Also, in Brees' one cold weather playoff game, he got thrashed by the Grossman-led Bears 39-14.

Falcons' DC VanGorder jumps ship to become DC at Auburn.
