2011 NFL Thread: The Lazarus Season - Part 2

I think people forget how well Detroit played last season despite their 5-11 record.

That is all fine and good but you can play as well as you want and it doesn't mean a damn thing if you only win six games.

Which is why Detroit will only take their spot as an elite team after they win 11 or 12 games this year.

Yeah, the Lions barely beat the Bucs. They're not an elite team yet. Maybe someday, but not right now.

But they won the game. If they barely beat someone in 12 games, they still won 12 games.

Yep, and they barely lost 10 games last year. Still lost 10 games.

I'm just saying, a win is a win. I want to quote The Fast and the Furious but I will refrain from doing so.

:lmao:

Lions will only win 8 games this season. Like someone said, they are far from being one of the top teams but they sure as hell are on their way to it.

It's not like your Ravens have been around that long. I mean The Steelers won most of those championships way before The Ravens were even thought of.

Of course everyone's aware of the storied legacy but that doesn't matter to me or most Ravens fans for that matter, especially since a few of those Rings came during our existence as a franchise. lulz, & it certainly doesn't matter to other Steeler fans when the arguments start, those Rings are always a primary talking point.

"It's the only argument I need, Sean!"

I'm thinking your right. They have a fairly soft first half of the schedule, but from week 7 on is really tough. I could see them losing all momentum and dropping their final eight of their final nine games.

In the end, I think that despite Norm's delusions, Schwartz isn't the guy to take them to the next level. I think someone like his old mentor Jeff Fisher would be a far better choice to take them from a team with a potential to a championship calibre team. I think if Schwartz doesn't finish 9-7 this year at least (and I doubt that he will), he needs to be fired.

Why the hell would they fire him? Guy has to rebuild a team from scratch after years of their horrible GM basically destroying that team. Guy deserves two more years at least.

Yeah Matt, can't say I agree with you on this one. Schwartz is no one's idea of a genius, but he seems to have the heart & respect of that locker room, so guys go out and play hard for him. Never any complaints & if the product on the field is any indication, he's doing his job pretty damn well.

Because ever since he's been hired all that we have been hearing is how much potential this time has and they have yet to live up to it. At some point potential needs to be on field success and if Schwartz can't get there, there is no reason to keep him around. I think this young team needs a veteran coach like Brian Billick or Jeff Fisher.

At any rate, I see the Lions actually finishing just as bad or worse than last season. I think that they will lose to the Cowboys, Bears (twice), Falcons, Packers (twice), Saints, Chargers, and Vikings (once). Then I see games like KC, Oakland, Denver, and their other Vikings game as being capable of going either way. My guess is 5-11 or 6-10. That would make Schwartz's career record over three seasons 13-35. That warrants termination, I'd say.

No.Just No. This team had no potential to do anything until this year and the last two years the Franchise QB has gotten hurt. It takes time to improve on a team that went 0-16.

Also I think they go 9-7. I think they beat The bears(once), vikings(both), and those other games like KC.

It's sad that the NFL has emulated the rest of America, now it's a Microwave League. Gone are the days when you actually gave a coach some time, especially when you're trying to breath life into a Detroit Lions corpse, to gain some success, since ya know, not every franchise could be turned around in 2 or 3 seasons.

All these old 'great' coaches waiting in the wings to be plugged into spots when you USED to build your young coaches into THOSE guys through years of tough games, injuries, heartbreaking losses, & emerging consistent success. Now it's just, "Get (Place young promising Coach currently struggling with a team here) outta here & let's bring in that old bastard calling the game. He used to be good, right?"

Well, I'm not other Steelers fans and I will give The Ravens their due. They're a damn good franchise and I like the way they do business.

lol, remember that the next time Ben's nose comes up looking like the letter Z again.:awesome:

When is a touchdown, not a touchdown? Next time on Doctor's Round Table.

That poster makes no sense. that's from the game where Staff led an insane comeback and beat the Browns with basically one functioning shoulder on the last play of the game. Unless of course we're talking about people somehow denying that he can be an elite QB in the league?.

Yeah, the Lions barely beat the Bucs. They're not an elite team yet. Maybe someday, but not right now.

The Lions dominated that game in basically every measurable category, regardless of the Bucs garbage time TD to make the score look closer than it was. Not to mention, didnt the Bucs also win 10 games last year...when the Lions also beat them...with Drew Stanton at QB?

You clearly didn't watch the game. The Lions dominated the Bucs without even opening up its offense.

This is going to make this year all the more sweeter.

I mean you thought Peyton Manning would retire after missing a game because the only reason he was playing football is to break Favre's streak. You are clueless man, lol.
