Well apparently if you feel you've already seen it due to the superbowl trailer that means you're biased.
Have you been on the Avengers forum or something? Because it sounds like you were accused of that.:hehe:

I was accused of DC biased on the Misc Superhero board simply because I felt I'd already seen the trailer before due the the superbowl ad. But whatever, typical fanboys responses to those who have differing opinions.

^We will see what happens. I think that Battleship looks just as big and nobody is predicting a billion for that.

They did finally release a decent trailer, I will give them that. I do think it's bit disappointing that it just looks like every other action film. Doesn't look like a whole lot of new stuff is in but people love rehashes so that shouldn't hurt it.

Indeed. Battleship looks like Transformers 3 as well (or any of them, as they're all the same movie) and by the logic of "The Avengers" looks like that or 2012 or what has you it will get millions of new viewers is a bit silly. Also, it assumes people who saw Iron Man didn't see Transformers or 2012. I bet the majority of MCU viewers saw Transformers 3 in theaters.

...though, I didn't. ;) :oldrazz:

Battleship doesn't have Iron Man dog fighting in a 10 second long tracking shot. It has a nobody in Taylor Kitsch as the lead. But i guess it has... Rihanna? lol.

I'm not predicting a billion for Avengers. I'm predicting around 800 million, give or take.

So, Iron Man's the draw? We agree: Of course Iron Man is the draw and no Iron Man movie has crossed $600 million WW.

I actually think this one will cross $600 million and maybe even $700 million (though that's a long shot), because international audiences have grown larger and more accepting of superhero films over the last five years and 3D will give it a bump. But not one worth $300-$500 million like most fans seem to think.

Not really. It's not just that, it's a build up of things and your overall attitude towards anything Marvel related.

I can't quite understand how you can deny it. I mean, if you prefer DC over Marvel it's not exactly a problem.

If that trailer was a JLA trailer you'd be singing a different tune I believe.

But the trailer isn't anything new and people are only raving about a solid but not great trailer because the other ones were so pointless. I feel the exact same way about The Amazing Spider-Man trailer to be honest.

The only trailer that really excited me was the Batman trailer. I had problems with it (Where the hell is Catwoman? And the football thing was goofy) but overall it was a far more interesting trailer than the other ones.

There is just something about the Avengers just doesn't bring excitement into me. Maybe part of it is comicbook movie fatigue and maybe part of it is the fact that it just looks like a silly cartoon, maybe part of it is the fact that the trailer is too Transformery and maybe it has something to do with me hating Iron Man 2 and thinking that Thor was mediocre. It's probably all of the above. I'm going to see it but the team up thing never tickled me like it did other people I would have preferred great films about each of the characters. I only really liked Captain America and Iron Man so I guess it would be hard for me to get super excited.

No, the main draw is that it's a disaster movie, which 9 times out of 10 make big money. It's a disaster movie with superheroes, including Iron Man, fighting alien invaders.

It's nothing like your average superhero movie, going by the trailer anyway.

My view is, if a piece of **** like Dark of the Moon can make a billion, Avengers, which seems to deliver that level of "shock and awe" plus actual, you know, characters and a story, can make 800 million.

I see the counter argument that the Dark of the Moon was the third in a successful trilogy that had robots blowing crap up. Yea well, Avengers is the fifth in a successful franchise that features superheroes blowing crap up.

It's a teenagers wet dream.

There you go again, telling me what it is I would be feeling. You must of missed my praise of the Spider Man trailer or my review of X-Men first class which I praised as the best superhero film of last year, or the numerous times I've said I love IM1, or the fact that I actually own more Marvel related characters on DVD than I do DC characters. I don't deny I'm a DC guy when it comes to comics, but film is different, I'm quite capable of putting aside any 'loyalty' because it's a completely different medium, I don't hate Marvel characters, the only thing I dislike is how Marvel Studios operates. Oh and I'm on the record as saying I don't want a JL film.

The bolded is almost as dumb and misguided as your comments about Spielberg. Who are you to say people are only raving about it because the other ones were pointless?

Maybe they are raving about it because it has spectacular, iconic superhero imagery? Great character moments? Some of the best CGI ever seen?

Yes and the last movie in this "successful Franchise" didn't even do 400mil worldwide. (I loved Cap but it wasn't some mega hit).

You've hated the Avengers concept from the start and don't try to deny it. Which is fine, it's your opinion, but don't lie and come up with crap like "i've seen it before" to try and have a reason for not liking it. Just say, i don't like it.

Okay, now you bring up something that is not germane to the conversation???

I make no apologizes about my opinion of Spielberg and his films just like I do not expect you to make any apologizes about your opinion of his films.

I never licked Spielberg's ass like other fanboys do, he was never my favorite director. Outside of Indiana Jones I hold no special place in my heart for him as a director.

This isn't something new that I came up with to sound cool, I was underwhelmed when I saw Jurassic Park in 1993 and I still am. It has horrible characters and is only good for the special effects and the action scenes. I couldn't care less if you don't like my indifference towards Spielberg, go sit down and watch a Transformer movie. That is the last movie that the master produced isn't it? He's a long way from the brilliant Back To the Future and Men in Black, ain't he?

WTF?????? I'm not ****ing lying, that's what I felt when I watched the trailer, who the **** are you to tell me the reasons for how I felt about it are false?

after the summer is over i think a lot SHH members will get banned. way to many comicbook movies. the fanboys never had to survive a summer with so many big movies.they are not trained and prepared. Batman,Avengers,Spiderman. this is a war that we can not win. :woot::oldrazz:

I'm thinking of actually quitting the site after this year. Seriously.

Don't say stupid, misguided things then. You thought the trailer wasn't all that? Fine. Don't presume to say people are only raving about it because the other trailers are crap or "pointless", whatever the **** that means, though.

But the stuff in the trailer wasn't seen before. 90% of it is new imagery. So you're either lying, or you're confused. Or you're looking for reasons to say you don't like it instead of just saying "I don't like the Avengers as a concept, regardless of execution".

There's a reason why the Mayans predicted the world to end this year. :oldrazz:

You clearly can't grasp the idea of someone having a different opinion to you. Whatever, I don't have to answer to you.

I understand why you would want to but I don't want you too. I actually respect you, you are one of the good ones.

You clearly can't grasp the idea of someone having a different opinion to you.

No i clearly can. I've already said, if you don't like the trailer, fine, that's your opinion. If you don't like the concept of the Avengers, fine, that's your opinion. Who am i to tell you you're wrong?

But saying "I've seen it all before" when you in fact, haven't, because 90% of the trailer is brand new imagery, reeks of coming up with an excuse just to say you don't like the trailer.

he is not saying that he saw the Avengers footage before.

I will give Whedon credit that The Avengers actually looks like a classic Marvel comic book in its visual inventiveness.

But it still looks like Iron Man meets Transformers. That's not going to expand its audience that much.

I have seen it all before and that's not an excuse or a lie. You can cream your pants over this trailer to your hearts content but don't ask me to.

Where have you seen it all before? I want to know where you've seen a live action Iron Man dog fighting in a 10 second long tracking shot through NYCs streets. I want to know where you've seen a live action Hulk catching a falling Iron Man and sliding down a building. I want to know where you've seen a live action Thor and Iron Man beating the **** out of each other. I want to know where you've seen a live action Captain America sky diving with his shield out in front.

I'm not trying to change anyones mind here, I'm genuinely curious as to how people can say we've seen this **** before, when we clearly haven't. Apart from on the pages of the comics or on the cartoons.

you know what they mean. they mean fighting on the streets of NY. they mean collapsing buildigns. they mean big explosions. slow motion walking into the camera .
