I'd love to see the Bears pair Mario Williams up with Julius Peppers. That's a lot of DE money, though.

"We have had Brees for six years. How many super bowls? One. When did it come? When we had our best defense. If we give Brees whatever he wants, how can we afford to fix the holes on defense? The contract he wants will leave us in cap hell for the next 3-5 years. We will be the 2007-2008 Saints. Everyone is on the "pay him whatever" bandwagon but no one is looking at the cap implications it will bring. Is it worth having Brees if we can't have the team around him to get us back to the big game? You are fooling yourself if you think Brees alone will get us back.

And another thing, we are going to be losing quite a few major draft picks due to this bounty fiasco. We are going to have to rely on Free Agency to fill our holes. How can we do that with the contract he wants?"

I love Drew...but nowhere near as much as I love the team. I'd rather see him walk than have him just to see us with a sub .500 record while he is with us. It's not worth it if we can't afford to continue building and fixing the team. And we all know this team needs defensive help.

So....you want Brees to take less money or take your chances on Daniel? Cause I really doubt Peyton will take that much less money then what Brees wants. So that leaves Flynn?

Nah, not free just far enough beneath his worth to be slightly insulting. :o

I'd be unhappy if i was him too. He may have had injuries before, but he is a great athlete now. And he's the guy who has completely turned the franchise around, getting them the big one, playoffs pretty much every year, breaking records. Who says Peyton will be happy if the organisation can't get Brees to sign?

If Peyton Manning is not released on Thursday. He can still get his $28 Million & still become a Free Agent. That would suck for the Colts

While also being hilarious.

Well I think some fans believe that you can just get a franchise QB anywhere.

New Orleans should just trade for Matt Moore. He's the answer I tells ya.

Brees is looking for a lot of coin and lot of years for a 33 year old.

If Saints don't want to pay him, they can always let him walk and become a FA, you know. Unfortunately, they'd rather tag him than do just that.

I think it's funny how people are arguing that Brees doesn't worth the money he's asking. Um, isn't the market the one that is supposed to set the value for the player? If Brees doesn't worth what he's asking, then why not let him go and see if the other 31 teams would pay his asking price? I have a strong feeling that more than one team will be willing to do just that.

Not in the NFL, no.

Not in the NFL, no.

So if the player doesn't get a team to pay his asking price, he'll either lower his damand or find another team that does, right? And if no team would pay, then he'll be out of the NFL, right? Saints won't pay Brees, but that doesn't mean no other team would.

True franchise QBs are so hard to find, I'm surprised NO is doing this with Brees. It's even crazier when you consider what he's already accomplished with/for the team.

Yeah, it is pretty shocking, especially considering that he's a media darling and the team is embroiled in controversy on the other side of the ball right now.
