It's so laughable that the NFL and Goodell still think that the sport has global appeal.

I have some fond memories of Alex Smith as a Niner, but when I'm old, I'll remember him blowing up message boards more than anything else. I saw two Chiefs MB's where the arguments about Alex have seemingly gone on by the minute since he went to KC. Then someone links one of these to the 49ers board and it blooms into a 9-page, increasingly hostile conversation in less than 24 hrs. :funny:

The NFL needs to realize this is an american sport where from rednecks to yankees sit down on sundays, eat wings and drink large amounts of beer. This isnt a sport that can translate to other parts of the world like soccer or even baseball or basketball. the game is too soft now and with the new rules every year amd watering down the product what kind of game are you actually selling? Are you selling the hard hitting where you draw flags everytime or are you selling pass happy offenses with no defenses to speak of? Soccer is popular from my perspective because there are zero to none commercials amd non stop action where as the NFL has commercial breaks every down and that ticks alot of people off and drives them away because the games take too long to play on tv.

NFL draws crowds in England and Canada. It has room to grow in Europe.

If the pro Bowl is in Brazil then I will definitely try go and watch it.

No one watches it in America. I sure ain't going to Brazil.

It would probably be the only time that I might get to see an ''NFL game'',and I doubt I will go to the States to watch one.

The Pro Bowl's changes were made just for the sake of change.

I remember a time where I used to be stoked about the skills competition, and the enthusiasm for that usually led me to watch the actual game as well.

The skill competition was fantastic to watch. I'd rather they have that than the Pro Bowl.

Honestly, yeah, they're better off getting rid of the AFC/NFC aspect of it if the players aren't trying, preserving their health (I don't really blame them), etc. None of the players actually have pride in that game. It's not like anyone is boasting afterwards.

However, the skills competition had some bragging rights involved. I still remember Chad Johnson (he's still 'Johnson' to me) going at it with Steve Smith, and that gave people a genuine reason to watch - it was entertainment.

I don't even know what it is now. All of the "Team Irvin" and "Team Carter" hashtag nonsense just gets on my nerves.

Yeah, I need a skills competition. That is genuinely fun to watch. It's just like when ESPN randomly does one every once in a while with retired players for a charity.

Or hell, give me something fun like players bowling. Chris Paul's bowling tournament every Super Bowl weekend is awesome.

Why Robert Griffin III and John Jay Gruden will Totally Lead the Redskins to Super Bowl 50

By Daniel Snyder

1. It's the offseason, and the Redskins are already winning. Gone are the days when we would fork over $100 million to pay a 500-pound lazyass like Albert Haynesworth. Nope, this year, we have a new GM: Scot McCloughan, the genius who single-handedly turned the 49ers and the Seahawks into perennial playoff contenders. And the team is already off to a great start, because we haven't spent a ton of money on any huge names. You know your fans have complete confidence in your organization when they're applauding you for doing very little.

2. Superstar cornerback Chris Culliver. Yeah, I know what you're thinking. Chris Culliver has said and done some things in the past that many people find repugnant. And I'm truly sorry if you found his conduct offensive. But the good news is that WE don't find it offensive and that's what really matters. Because nothing he's said directly impacts me, and therefore, I don't have any right to be offended by it, you know? So if you were offended, maybe you should just take a good look at yourself and figure out what is so wrong in your life that you let these things bother you.

3. RG3 will rise again. Like Joe Theismann and Rex Grossman, Robert will once again dominate the NFL. I know he's had his struggles over the past couple seasons, but we believe in him, and so should you. And so should Jay Gruden. He'd better. Or else. Speaking of which...

4. Our coach has Championship experience. Jay served as an offensive assistant during Super Bowl XXXVII, which is basically like being the head coach and the offensive coordinator and the defensive coordinator and the special teams coach only not. More importantly, he's a SIX-TIME ArenaBowl champion. How many other NFL coaches can say that? Yeah, that's right. NONE. I have complete confidence that Jay will make our beloved Redskins six-time Super Bowl champions as long as he never benches Robert again.

5. WE WILL NEVER CHANGE THE NAME AND I AM TYPING THIS IN ALL CAPS NOT OUT OF HUBRIS BUT BECAUSE THE SHIFT KEY IS STUCK. Ah, there we go! Fixed. Anyway, as I was saying, the Redskins name will never change as long as I own the team. I'm not entirely sure what this has to do with winning the Super Bowl, only that I just felt a need to mention it because I recently spoke to a group of Native Americans named ummm Manny, Moe and Jack and they all told me that they love the name. They said I should never change it and if I do, they would use their magical Indian powers to curse the team forever so that we'd never make the postseason again and there will be pestilence and locusts and death to the first born and stuff. So there you go, folks. The Indians love the name and that's all there is to it. And if you want us to change it, then that means you love death and plagues. And I don't know about you, but I think people who are pro-death and pro-plague are anti-America.

HTTR!!!

:lmao:

You are in a league of your own, Rows! It is hilarious all around, but this bit that I quoted is my favorite part.

That is straight from the conscience of Dan Snyder. Well done!

Dan Snyder is that you? Lol

Thanks, guys! Glad you liked that one. You know, you really have to give Dan Snyder credit. Somehow, in a league full of a**hole owners (and let's not kid ourselves, they're ALL a**holes, even the my self-righteous Rooneys) Snyder manages to distinguish himself as the biggest d**k of them all. That's quite a feat. I'll bet the other owners LOVE him for it too, since it allows them to fly under the radar a bit for being perverts (Jerry Jones), raging teabagger nutjobs (Woody Johnson), crooks (Jimmy Haslam), swindlers (Arthur Blank, Mike Brown), sleazebags (Steve Bisciotti) and homophobes (all of them; otherwise, Michael Sam would at least be on the practice squad of ONE team).

If Rows started a satire blog about sports stuff, it would be a major hit.

Thanks, guys. I'm going to do it. I'll send you the link once it's up!

Cam's gonna rush for 1,000+ yards and 10+ touchdowns next season. From Bell and Chandler to Oher and J.Martin, good lord. I don't know if that's an upgrade or not anymore.

For the Panthers it probably is an upgrade from what they originally had, but its still a very horrible upgrade.

I always feel like Oher should be better because they made a movie about him. It made loads of money and Sandra Bullock won the Academy Award for her role.

:o

And keep us posted, Rows. I'm looking forward to it.

Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff is bracing for the team’s penalties from the noise gate investigation

Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff is bracing for the team’s penalties from the noise gate investigation, which could include the loss of a high draft pick possibly in the 2015 draft.

“We are just so full of scenarios and that’s kind of how we approach the offseason as it is,” Dimitroff said on 680 The Fan Friday morning. “We’ve been very detailed on how we are going to approach things if in fact we have availability at certain points in the draft.”

Dimitroff said the team doesn’t officially know of its plight, although there was an report that the team was informed of ‘severe’ penalties at the owners’ meeting.

“I do not know at this point, officially,” Dimitroff said. “I have not (received) word from the league.”

The league would not confirm that they have informed the Falcons of their penalty. The league will officially inform the Falcons via a written letter from commissioner Roger Goodell.

“I believe that we’ll be expecting something,” Dimitroff said. “Usually, when you get indication from the league it is via print.”

Dimitroff would not speculate on the penalty.

“I’m reading the same things that you are,” Dimitroff said. “Obviously, it’s been a process for us.”

If the Falcons lose a pick, they’ll consider trading the eighth to pick to help recover the loss pick.

“We have to think about the long-term of course,” Dimitroff said. “It depends where that pick is going to affect us, if it does affect is. We will consider that, yes.”

The Falcons were investigated for piping in fake crowd noise through the Georgia Dome’s sound system for the past two seasons. The violations turned up in the regular league audit of sound levels.

The Falcons could be fined and possibly lose a draft choice. However, the league released the draft order on Tuesday and all of the Falcons’ eight picks for the 2015 draft were listed.

Falcons owner Arthur Blank admitted the team negligently crossed the line.

“It’s not really a fine line,” Blank told The Associated Press on Feb. 2. “I think what we’ve done in 2013 and 2014 was wrong. Anything that affects the competitive balance and fairness on the field, we’re opposed to, as a league, as a club and as an owner. It’s obviously embarrassing but beyond embarrassing it doesn’t represent our culture and what we’re about.”

The Falcons were expecting to hear from the league by late February, early March.

Blank said he was “embarrassed and angered” when he found out in November that the franchise was being investigated by the league office.

“We cooperated fully,” Blank said “We certainly support the integrity of the league, the integrity of fair competition and the integrity of the shield. We are not happy about it.”
