What a waste of cash. :o

No, it really isn't. It's a lot easier to have an offensive identity with a known entity at QB. Sure, Newton is erratic, but game-planning around a QB's weak areas is preferable than throwing the franchise into flux with a QB carousel. Plus, Newton is young and decent enough as is.

Lantern Venom, this, :o is the sarcasm smilie. :funny:

The car cash was so bad, he needed a whole new body!?

Someone would have paid him that. I think Andy Dalton got paid more by the Bengals.

Honesty, Cam deserved to get paid. 100M+? Debatable, but he definitely deserved a hefty payday. For what he has to work with and what he has done despite all of that, it's worthy enough. And technically, Carolina are the division champs. The crap record doesn't take that away.

It's just a shame that Pittsburgh had to deliver a delicious, satisfying ass beating to Carolina on national television.

Cam's endured a lot in Carolina as well. I'm not too far from Charlotte, so I hear/see a lot of Panthers coverage. The media and some of the whiny, win-now-or-else segments of the Panthers' fanbase (not you, Doomsdayapex, calm down) haven't been very patient with Cam.

He's the 100 million dollar man.

We can rebuild him. We have the technology. We just seem to be interested in genetic splicing... too much.

Pretty much. Had Cam hit the market, he probably would've gotten like 115 million from Dallas, 108 million from Arizona, 110 million from Oakland, 105 million from Cleveland, 107 million from Houston, 111 million from Kansas City, 106 million from Denver, etc.

(Random numbers but you get the idea. Cam likely would have been pursued by 35% of the league and paid more than 103.8 in the end).

No, I agree you. Although I don't live in North Carolina, I hear from local fans all the time. A good portion stand by Cam BUT there's a quite a few who don't as well. Unfortunately, since the Carolinas are filled with southern 'hicks', near half of the fanbase would rather have Cam play running back or wide receiver or tight end, and have our front office draft a 'traditional' QB. If you know what I mean.

I personally don't like to pull out the race card but three semi-racist cartoons make me question the logic behind some of the comments about Newton.

:hehe:

That thing needs to hit theaters already. I doubt it'll knock Mad Max and Ex Machina from my number one spot of 2015 but the hype machine has finally gotten to me!
I am hyped for a lot of films this year, but nothing quite matches that little movie coming out in December. :yay:

But Zod, is Mad Max good. :hmr:

I grew up close to DC and remember the days of Doug Williams behind center for the 'Skins with painful clarity. Modern fans might not be brazen enough to say things like "a black man isn't smart enough to be a QB" like they did in the 80s, but the residue of those intolerant attitudes is still hiding underneath comments about current black QBs.

As a long time MMA fan, the code words are "explosive" and "athletic".

Don't forget "surprisingly eloquent", either. That's usually reserved for the instances when the young college basketball player just used a few words that weren't a part of the fan's limited lexicon.

I never noticed that, but you are so right. :funny:

I know it has the "sarcasm" label... but if you REALLY look at it, it screams "embarrassment smilie"... or at the very least, the ******io smilie... :wow:

:yay:

There never has been an official statement on what that red face is actually supposed to mean.

Yep, which doesn't surprise me. Newton, by all accounts, is still a thug who doesn't possess enough football smarts for the position. The "$cam Newton" shtick is alive and well in the South, and it ain't because of spiteful Alabama fans who still hold a grudge for that Iron Bowl comeback or Cam's father making illegal monetary maneuvers or Cam buying a stolen laptop and tossing it out a window in college (keep in mind, it's been over six years). Ironically, those same fans who chastised Newton, backed up Johnny Manziel when he entered the league.

Racism remains in the NFL. As you explained, it's not on the same level it was in the 80s with Doug Williams and Warren Moon but it's ready to rear its ugly mug at any moment an 'athletic' QB is in the spotlight.

Ahhh, you're excited about the Point Break reboot, huh?

:o

My body is ready for Episode 7.

Anthony Davis of the 49ers retires.

I have never seen a legit Super Bowl contender crash and burn this hard in one off-season. It doesn't matter how the 49ers front office wanted to spin it. It's no coincidence that after Harbaugh left, the team is going to s***.

Add Andy Lee (their Pro Bowl punter) to that list. The 49ers traded him to Cleveland.

On the bright side, the team bus just became a Dodge Grand Caravan. Parking will be so much easier.
