Well it helps the receiver because Brady would have an easier time putting it where only the receiver can get it. Again, it is not complicated.

I KNOW THIS. Why do you think you're educating me? I'm saying why would they do it if it could potentially help a defender too? How can you not get that? Just kinda silly for them to take that chance. Either way I think it's a waste of the NFL's time, personally.

As a massive Brady fan I am a tad disheartened but it's pretty ****ing stupid to think Brady wouldn't contact the guy after all this **** even if he hadn't talked to him in 6 months. End of the day I honestly don't think this had any effect on the game and furthermore I think this is a common practice but since it's the Patriots it's under the microscope.

As Bill Simmons said "The Wells Report should have ended with a recap of Brady going 37 for 50 for 4 TDs with properly inflated balls in the Super Bowl."

Deflated footballs or not, the man does this thing. I could care less. Fine him, suspend him for a game, what's done is done.

Because the benefits outweigh the any problem. The biggest benefactor is the QB, by a lot. The QB doesn't play defense. You say you know this, and continue this ridiculous argument.

I think we are mis-understanding each other, that ok ain't a big deal really anyway. Let's not waste thread space.

Thread space? Its May and the draft is over. It is a long time to September. :funny:

Super Bowl was played in Arizona, not in cold weather like the AFC Championship. Big difference. Also, Bill Simmons is a moron and a Bostonian, his opinion on the matter carries no weight.

I love Bill Simmons, but of course he said that. He doesn't hide his bias. :funny:

I don't see what weather has to do with them purposely deflating the footballs or not. Numbers don't lie though. He went up against arguably the best D in the league and put up great numbers on them. This whole story needs to go away cause odds are the Pat's were going to beat the Colts anyway. Fine him, suspend him, whatever. They still won the championship.

Damn good point, shadys comments?
That kind of stuff pisses me off. It is the same crap Stephen A. Smith did. Lets call the guy a racist, without calling him a racist. That way we can say we didn't call him a racist even though we are clearly calling him a racist. It is juvenile BS, and it pisses me off that people are actually suggesting that Kelly has anything to respond to.

First, it was my Colts son.

Second, if it doesn't matter why did he do it? Why did be flippin' bribe the equipment guys if it doesn't matter?

All he was doing was bringing to light some of the questions players in the locker room had about the moves. I don't know why so many people took it the wrong way. The exact day when he said what he said, he was then asked by Skip Bayless if he thought Chip Kelly was a racist, he said no. I don't see why people took it that way, rather than, why the hell did you trade McCoy and not resign Maclin when you have Riley Cooper on your team when he's a trash receiver.

I know, I fixed it.

I really can't speak for Brady. I don't care that he did it. According to NFL insiders, there are a number of QBs who have done it before. No one's been accused until now. Like I said, just fine him or suspend him. Betcha no one will try it again.

You can't be serious. They are clearly calling him a racist, but covering their asses by not outright saying it. Stephen A. Smith is a worm, who does this kind of crap all the time. He is the guy that said women need to be careful, because they can provoke men to hit them. He isn't a bastion of wisdom. They keep implying it over and over, and that ass Smith keeps on double talking all over the subject.

As to why keep Cooper, he is cheap and is a big body who can block. Why he got rid of the other two, I don't know, but it clearly isn't because they are black. Maybe he wanted cap space, maybe they didn't listen. Maybe he wanted guys who fit his system better. Maybe he prefers team guys over "me" guys. Considering how crap McCoy was last season, I don't see why it is a shock they got rid of him.

I know, I fixed it.

Considering the reaction by former players on ESPN today, they aren't cool with it.

Darth is just salty as hell because Brady's been spanking that Colts ass since Luck became QB.

:o

And I am all for Brady being suspended for the first regular season game. That way, my team can get that win.

I'm guessing 8 games, cut down to 4.

Pete Rose got banned for LIFE for betting on baseball, he wasn't directly affecting the game. Brady is going to get at most a one game suspension for altering footballs and directly affecting the game? What a crock.

What do

Tim Couch
Ty Detmer
Doug Pederson
Kelly Holcomb
Jeff Garcia
Luke Mccown
Trent Dilfer
.

I still hold Mike Nolan responsible for infecting the 49ers with Trenterception. He was always a subpar QB, but by the time he got to SF, he had no deep ball and could barely run. 2007 was hard to watch.

If Trent Dilfer had been a 3rd or 4th round pick and played as long as he did he would have been a solid, decent QB.

Had he not had the benefit of 2 historically great defenses in succession, his career would have been similar to Tim Couch's NFL tenure. He might have lasted 5 years if he was lucky.

The wording in the report is hilarious. Brady maybe probably knew possibly. Maybe.

Whether Brady was involved or not, I don't see how you punish anybody for something ruled 'probable'. Doesn't there have to be conclusive evidence of something in order to punish somebody? That's the American way, innocent until proven guilty.

It's maybe probable that it's the American way.

Maybe. Perhaps.

Yeah, kinda sorta maybe perhaps probably possibly conceivably I guess?

Innocent until proven guilty yes but there are many situations where circumstantial evidence has provided a guilty sentence.

Now, I read some of this Well's report last night. Very boring stuff. But what I got out of it was this. The NFL doesn't really care that the footballs were deflated. They actually knew going into the first quarter that they were. They didn't do anything about it. After halftime the 4 balls that they tested of the Colts were also under weight. Brady, while not directly implicated, did know about it. Which is why the word "probable" was used. The text messages between the two guys all but proves that.

This whole thing is ridiculous though. It's the equivalent of driving through a stop sign on a street that's never busy. It's against the law, but it's not a big deal. It's as dumb as people who think pine tar has an effect on hitting a baseball. What's messed up about the situation is Brady lying about it. I love Tom Brady as a QB. I think he's the best to ever play the position. Why he thinks he needed to do this to gain an advantage is something I can't answer. But, he needs to be suspended for trying to cover this up. I understand why, after he was caught, he didn't just admit it. He was probably scared he would have been suspended for the Superbowl. I don't blame him for lying then, but he's still sticking to the story. It's not a good look at all and if I was Goodell, I'd suspend him half the season, a fine and dock the Pat's a few draft picks. I get they weren't blamed for this but maybe they'll keep a closer eye on this kind of stuff in the future.
