Is anyone really going to argue he isn't guilty after he destroyed the phone at such a convenient time?

Seriously what is the point. Just should've taken the suspension and eventually it all blows over. Actually this whole thing was pretty much something people didn't care much about anymore, until the appeal and now even worse with this phone thing.

Destroying a cell phone like a mobster? So shady.

Like I've been saying all along: The cover up is worse than the crime.

Destroying your cell phone? Really Brady? :whatever:

I look forward to the season opener. My dudes need every win they can get with their schedule. I am so glad Brady is suspended for at least the first game.

Brady will no doubt take this to court. Things will get ugly.

I dont know why he would take this to court honestly over a 4 gamer unless his ego is so huge he doesnt want his legacy tarnished.

I don't know why Brady didn't just hand the phone over to the NFL so Kraft's good buddy Goodell could have it destroyed (like what happened to the Spygate tapes).

I mean, leave the destruction of evidence to the professionals, don't do it yourself!

How do you think the Steelers defense will do this year? We all know the offense is going to rock, but do you think the defense will be able to keep up?

I have faith in the defense. Honestly, the fact that Pittsburgh went from the oldest team in the league to one of the younger teams, I can't complain. Studs like DuPree, Thomas, and Shazier along with a change to the LeBeau style defense, it is looking promising. It will take time, but I am excited.

And a high power offense can take pressure off a new defense. It gives them more time to gel together and gives the new DC time to get his stuff together.

The NFLPA would have never allowed Brady to hand his phone over anyway. That is a breach of the rights of the union members. So honestly, the cell phone is irrelevant. The interesting thing is that this isn't even about deflating footballs anymore. The phone is the smoking gun.

The issue about whether or not handing the cell phone over to the NFL is "a breach of the rights of the union members" will be up to a court to decide, and that will be based on the wording of the CBA that the Union signed with the League.

The real question is how far does the power of the Commissioner go to suspend players for their non cooperation in an NFL investigation? Obviously the NFL feels that it goes pretty far...

actually if it's not clearly listed out in the CBA, then he has no obligation to give it to them. It's not really much for a court to determine as its a matter of law (the contract) not a matter of fact.

Goodell's "Kangaroo Court of Superior Moral Authority" is going to look awful bad when a real court starts picking this thing apart.

I believe Brady was given the option to not turn over his entire cell phone, but rather just every e-mail and text that involved deflate-gate. If he had texts that proved his innocence I don't see why he wouldn't of shared it. Often when people are accused of things they have to sacrifice some privacy for the sake of proving innocence, anything else will just result in people saying they are acting guilty.

The NFLPA GAVE Goodell this power. They gave him this power because they wanted money. The NFLPA & the players should man up & reap what they sow

This is true. Not a very good move by the NFLPA...

It just makes me scared for how the next collective bargaining negotiations between the NFL and the NFLPA are going to go. I'm sure the concept of Goodell being judge, jury, and executioner is going to go by the wayside. If it doesn't, can you say the word "strike"? I knew you could...

It appears to be less about the balls deflating as it about not complying and actually destroying evidence.

...
What's silly is that it's completely irrelevant what he did with his phone. He was never obliged to give more info than he gave (which was the most digital information ever requested and given in NFL history), and he was never told of any potential punitive action regarding his phone. Either way, they were never going to get the info from the phone, whether it were destroyed or not. Not to mention all of this is based on something that occurred well after the investigation when he complied fully within the rules during the investigation.

They're just hunting for excuses, and it's obvious and embarassing for the NFL. At first they release a report with no hard or conclusive evidence and deem that enough to give him the same amount of suspended games as a man who has been proven to have beaten his girlfriend multiple times. Just based on those two things alone, the original punitive measures were a joke and that they didn't at least lessen the suspension is laughable. That's not to say they're not totally within their rights to do this, but it's absolutely a joke that this is what they're doing.

Even the guy in charge of the MLB report regarding Pete Rose thinks the NFL is doing a terrible job and that the "entire NFL disciplinary process lacks integrity and fairness."

Attorney John M. Dowd, the investigator and author of the report that led Major League Baseball to ban Pete Rose, weighed in Wednesday and said Brady was "ambushed" by Goodell and that the "entire NFL disciplinary process lacks integrity and fairness."

"The record of the Wells investigation shows that this cellphone was not an issue or charge below. Tom and his counsel made it clear the cellphone would not be produced. He was not cited by Wells for failure to cooperate -- a separate charge never made -- because he did cooperate," Dowd said. "Thereafter, [Goodell] punished him for the tampering and made no reference to the absence of the phone or lack of cooperation.

"Meanwhile, the flawed Wells report was demolished publicly which put Goodell between a rock and a hard place given his dismal record with disciplinary decisions. As a result, Wells and the commissioner ambushed Brady on appeal with the phone and a new charge, to wit: failure to cooperate. But they knew and had no quarrel with the non-production of the phone before they learned it had been destroyed. By adding it to the reason for the suspension, the NFL commissioner has denied Tom Brady the fundamental right to notice of a charge and the right to defend against it."

Case is going to be heard in New York. Looking good for the NFL.

The NFLPA might want to strike, but it is hard to get enough players to agree. And if they do they will break long before the NFL does. A small number of billionaires against a couple thousands players, most of which who don't make enough money to last them 6 months?

The NFL seems to dig their heels in regards to this issue. And you're right the 2 thousand players wanting to get paid > then a couple of dozen players who get fined or suspended.

Brady is ****ed. He should just accept the suspension and move on. Throwing a temper tantrum isn't gonna help his image. Think about it, had he taken responsibility months ago, this would have already been forgotten, and Brady would have gotten a lighter sentence. Nope, his arrogant ass now has placed him in front of a lot of crosshairs -- people that have been waiting for him to slip up again.

You know... just to play Devil's advocate, there are PLENTY of reasons, personal reasons, why someone would not want their private affairs on their phone to be looked at...

Brady not giving up his phone does NOT equate an admission of guilt.

Just sayin'

Someone made the analogy if your gf accuses of you of cheating and asks to see your phone and you tell her, oh my phone broke. It's not automatically that he's guilty, but it sure sounds suspicious.
