21 Jump Street 2

Another thing I forgot to mention was the use of split panels. Not usually a fan of split panels in movies (they just never seem to work) but Lord/Miller really knew how to put them to good use for both visual and comedic effect, and spliced them back really creatively too.

Cloudy is a great movie. The second one is just ok but they only produced that one.

I've heard great things about the 1st one but somehow just missed seeing it when it originally came out. Now I want to see everything Lord/Miller have done. :)

This was awesome, despite the over-use of the "we're in a sequel" jokes.

Just too many great bits and one-liners to remember, but I wish I could. The walk-of-shames were hilarious. "I can't wait to watch Friends all day."

I lost it at the guy watching the fight completely stoned out his mind.

I didn't catch that until my second viewing of the movie LOL.

I loved this movie and its humor despite the plot being a beat for beat retread of the first movie.

My highlights of the movie are

The parents day scene and Ice Cube's reaction

Tatum's reaction to finding out the hill's characters is banging Ice Cube's daughter.

The Walk of Shame scenes

The end credits scenes

2 times the split panels were used in the same way "The Rules of Attraction" used them, with two different screens following the 2 actors combining into one shot when they meet. Interesting college movie homage.

Apparently at one point there were even more of those, but they had some alternate jokes and scenes they inserted after crowdtesting.

i appreciated the red herring tattoo joke the most because only film nerds like me would get it. :woot:

I went back for a 2nd viewing today, was still just as hilarious.

Some lines I missed the first time:
- Tatum's "There's a f***ing dragon in here!" when it was just an iguana
- "He's like a f***ing terminator!" when Tatum was on top of the truck at the beginning
- Hill's "It's like a cube of ice" inside HQ
- Hill's "I'm not f***ing Spider-Man!" immediately followed by Tatum's Spider-Man-like pose
- all of the references at how old Hill looked (which actually made me wonder why there were so many for a movie released in 2014, I mean it's not like all college students are necessarily 18-26 anymore since more adults are going back to college now, and both Hill & Tatum could easily pass as grad students too)

Have never seen that movie, worth a watch?

Yeah I instantly thought of Lord/Miller for Deadpool after The Lego Movie strangely enough. That film was very full of self-referential jokes. 22 took that to the next level. Though being in a UK city at 1pm I don't think I was with a crowd who got the injokes. The whole scene with Nick Offerman which is essentially one big in joke was dead silent in my screening. I was laughing however.

Anyway yeah they'd fit Deadpool's humour perfectly. And Lord/Miller have said they've been offered CBMs.
I always saw Deadpool falling under Tarantino's specialty.

Just saw this today, dang it was so entertaining and pulled off so well that I really don't think any other comedy this year could possibly top it. So many hilarious moments that just had me rolling, too many that I couldn't even begin to list them all. Tatum and Hill are officially the new greatest comedic duo and need to be in more movies together!

The acid trip scene was definitely one of the standouts, especially once Tatum's multiples started dancing. And his whole scene with "Schmidt f***ed the [blackout]Captain's daughter[/blackout]" was just gold too. Now that I think about it, the comedy was so well-balanced throughout the movie from the beginning all the way to the end. There were some especially great parts at the end, like Hill and the girl talking about f***ing while they were fighting that just had me in stitches.

I'm glad Lord/Miller actually saved some of the best parts for the movie and didn't throw the best scenes into the trailers (and even the bits from the trailers were funnier in context), and I can't wait for 23 Jump Street, if it ever happens. Or 33, or 45, or 67, or however many - that credits scene was just insanely awesome! I want as many Jump Street movies as possible now! :p

Now I have to see Lord/Miller's Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 1 and 2 because I haven't seen those yet....

You guys literally wrote everything I have to say about this movie! Thanks!:yay:

They know it's a retread like most comedy sequels and they're making fun of that which is awesome.

I'm going to be very sad if these movies won't continue forward. At least have Tatum in more movies like this. He belongs in comedy.

Yeah, but older students and grad students don't usually live in dorms. Those are usually for 18, 19 year old college freshmen.

Finally got to see it. This movie was awesome. I could barely drive home on the way back due to still laughing from the plot twist with Ice Cube :lmao:.

Usually these sorts of sequels are a significant drop in quality from the original (i.e. the Hangover sequels), but they actually had a second story to tell here and even put a twist on the idea they're redoing the same movie. I really liked that. Though I think the scenes at the end won't work in retrospect if they make a third film.

Ice Cube's performance at the buffet was amusing. :funny:

It could work. I feel like they will go the meta route again but I dont know I think they should find something new to riff on. I was more open to 22 because of how they set it up and going undercover in college makes sense. Where do you go after college? Grad school, culinary school? They made fun of a lot of those ideas in the credits of 22

I had 2 ideas of where a sequel could go if they ever made a third. I thought the idea of them going abroad would be something, but they made fun of that idea in the credits. Also I thought them being teachers and going to school where the teachers were just as weird and crazy as the students they met in the past could work.

I'd be surprised if Lord and Miller return, but I hope this turns out good. I think 22 one of, if not the best, sequel to a comedy ever.

Just skip ahead to Jump Street: X - In Space

YOU BASTARDS! YOU RUINED THE JOKE! AH, DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL! :cmad:

With that said, I'd prefer them do business school. So many ways to go and things to do you can do with business school.

The third one could make fun of how third films are often not that as good as people expect.

This movie was funny, but I enjoyed the first one a lot more. It flowed better and it was a lot funnier in my opinion. Don't get me wrong though, this movie was good. I just didn't find it super hilarious at all times.

7/10
