Just got back from GOTG!

10/10

Best CBM ever for me, everything a CBM should be, fun, exciting, whilst still telling a compelling story, with characters that learn and change.

BEST thing to ever come out of Marvel Studios, I'm suitably blown away, absolutely astounding stuff.

Flawless for me, nothing I'd change, it was fun, and moving. Just amazing stuff.

If anyone is on the fence about seeing it, jump the fence, and see the movie, just awesome awesome stuff. Laughed the whole time!!

Glad to see you liked the movie!

Agree with all of this.

GotG stole the show this year for CBMs. It's easily my favorite CBM in 2014, no question.

I actually think, if anything, it's kind of stolen the "Fun" thunder from TASM2 for me, whilst still being able to be emotionally moving.

It's a really difficult balance to achieve without seeming forced, but it all seems to flow naturally, the powerful, emotionally resonant moments of the film feel natural, the tone remains consistent, being able to take itself seriously in this fun tone is really unique.

If I compared it to TASM2 more, TASM2 jumped from tone to tone, and the smooth way in which GoTG managed to incorporate multiple themes in the film without changing the tone too suddenly is really a testement to the film itself. It really is such a cohesive story.

To put it simply, I'm probably one of the biggest supporters of Sony out there, and GoTG helped me sympathise with the people who wanted the spider-man rights to head back over the fence to Marvel.

I shouldn't talk about Spider-Man too much, but really, GoTG managed to take the best aspects out of all the CBMS this year and combine them together without feeling forced. Just great stuff.

I see everyone with their 9/10 and 10/10 scores for GOTG and then there's me. :DV:

Thought GOTG was really fun and funny. But that's it. Nothing amazing and the reviews and all the buzz over hyped it.

I disagree with the overhyping part. If anything, even after the all the positive reviews I went in with mild expectations and was blown away. Was it a technical...wait for it...Marvel? No. But it was everything a comic movie should be. Fun, funny, action-packed, emotionally resonant, heartfelt, well-scripted and edited--the movie had great flow and in all the right places. It was a highly entertaining and enjoyably solid film.

Have you guys seen this?

My balls are stuck!

Just seen Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and I thought it was absolutely fantastic. I was really worried as I saw some 'overrated' comments on this thread. I thought the movie was actually better than the first movie and I loved the first movie. I have to say that 2014 has been an absolute treat for me, I have pretty much seen every blockbuster this year and I have enjoyed the heck out of the majority of movies I have seen (5 out of 7). That said, I am limiting myself to only buying the CBM (4 in total) on blu ray.

Dawn of the Apes rocked. What's wrong with y'all?

Go enjoy TASM2 instead, I guess. :o

I'll have you know I gave TASM2 and Dawn of the Apes the same rating! :argh:

I'm not sure if I want to watch GoTG until I have TASM2 on Blu-Ray and seen it a few times on there beforehand; it sounds as if GoTG would make watching TASM2 for the second time less of an enjoyable experience. I'm glad GoTG is doing well though, I'm excited to watch it nevertheless. I can't believe I have to wait until Sept before I get the Blu-Ray for TASM2 though...

I absolutely love GoTG and it didn't take away my enjoyment of ASM2 at all. You either like a movie or you don't and one movie shouldn't stop you from watching another movie.

Was a little ****ed up yesterday so I couldn't report in.

Anyway... GotG... Yeah, probably the best CBM since The Avengers. A tad better than DoFP and miles ahead of TWS and probably better than ASM2. Kind of by deafult, but whatever.

And holy hell, the after credit scene. That was pretty ****ing neat. Was just a question of time, I guess.

Not sure if I have a rating yet, but it's ~8.5 - 9.2. The film has true heart, and as of right now, I care much more about the Guardians, than anyone in the Avengers.

Go see it, people who haven't seen it!
