3 Musketeers cast

Oliver Platt, Keifer Sutherland, and the rest of the cast save Tim Curry and the guy who played Rochefort didn't have an accent

surprised how quick this was cast and is ready to go

It's a race. I believe the other 3 musketeers movie is also supposed to start filming in the fall. They're both trying to get to the screen first.

I heard about that, isn't it the one where it's focusing on Athos, Porthos, and Aramis and how they met before D'Artagnan?

This is going to suck.

I don't get it. I don't understand how Hollywood has been able to get a great story like The Three Musketeers wrong so many times. Maybe it's just one of those stories that should be left in the past. But we've already had one bad version with Kiefer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen and Chris O'Donnell, followed by a butchered Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon version starring that *****e from Grey's Anatomy.

And now we have this new version which, despite some interesting casting choices, will undoubtedly be a failure because Paul Walking Suckfest Anderson is at the helm. Why is this guy still allowed to make movies? He's what Uwe Boll would have been had he been able to kick off his career of raping video game movies a few years before Internet blogs became popular. But since Anderson was able to take a dump on things like Mortal Kombat before the Internet really caught on, he's been somehow able to escape the massive Internet backlash that he so wholeheartedly deserves. Don't get me wrong, people still b**ch up a storm about him, but they've been so blinded by the Uwe Boll's massive cloud of suck that often, Anderson gets lost in the mix.

And to make matters worse... The Three Musketurds is going to be in 3D. Well, amen to that brother! I can't tell you how often I've thought about how much I need to see muskets firing up close! And since I've never been to France, it will just kick radical ass to be able to feel like I'm actually THERE with the use of 3-D technology. Even though this movie will probably be filmed on a farm in Wisconsin. An MUSTACHES! I REALLY NEED TO SEE MUSTACHES IN 3D!!! Just imagine how much better Magnum P.I. would have been if Tom Selleck's trademark 'stache had been shoved right into your f**king face. You could almost taste the cookie crumbs.

you forgot about the one with David Hasselhoff....that was probably the worst...or The Musketeer...that was a cluster**** as well

Never knew about the Hasselhoff one, lol. But The Musketeer... wow, was that sh**. Not even Tim Roth and Stephen Rea could save that awful movie.

Id probably put 'The Musketeer' as the worst interpretation of the story EVER

Yup. But... it had Mia Suvari naked! Kinda. And wire-fu on ladders!

yes because the French were the pioneers of Wire Fu

Yeah, but none of the Musketeer movies are in any way historically accurate in the way they portray 17th century sword fighting. Or Musketeers, for that matter. The Musketeer is ridiculous in some ways, but in other ways it's quite authentic - it has all natural lighting for instance, so it looks great. As a silly B-list Indiana Jones it's a lot of fun.

I'll happily watch any version, I even enjoy the Disney one. The best one is not actually the 70's Oliver Reed/Michael York mix of grimness and silliness, but the amazing technicolor 1948 version with Gene Kelly which is hands down one of the most entertaining movies ever made. Plus the action scenes are far better than any other musketeer movie.

ive seen the 1948 version, saw it when I was a teenager...

id like to see a novel accurate mini series, but I wont hold my breath

My favorite is the Tom and Jerry Version

Is there any actual valid artistic reason why the Three Musketeers of all things needs to be in 3-D?

The only thing about this I like are Christoph Waltz as Richelieu and Mads Mikkelsen.

Mikkelsen already earned some kind of award maintaining that much dignity in Clash of the Titans ridiculousness.

Bloom has officially signed on to play the Duke of Buckingham

Paul WS Anderson's next good movie will be his first, so I don't have a lot of faith in this project no matter who they cast.

The best adaptation was the 1973/1974 version.

The second best was the 1948 version.

The Douglas Fairbanks version had its charm.

The 1993 Disney version was riding on the coattails of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (they even got the same composer Michael Kamen and Bryan Adams to sing the theme song)

wasn't the sequel to the 73/74 version really bad??

No, they were actually quite popular. And if you're a fan of the book, it is by far the most accurate adaptation of the book in movie format.

They also made the sword-fighting much more realistic and gritty, something I appreciated. They also used real swords while fighting. Yup, no dulled weapons for those guys. Makes me respect Chris Lee even more. The dude was fighting with real swords with one eye.

I haven't watched that 73 version in years, Ill have to check it out again....the Disney version is still my favorite though

The Disney one is great fun, but since I'm a big fan of the book I've never been a gigantic fan of it. Still, it started my childhood love with the Musketeers, so it holds a special place in my heart.

The 73/74 versions are just incredibly fun. The first movie has a lot of physical humor, and the second movie (since it focuses on the second half of the book) gets very dark. But the final showdown between Rochefort and D'artagnan in the last movie is still one of my favorite sword fight's in a movie to this day.

The 70's version is responsible for a lot of the standards we see in the Musketeer movies made since then. Rochefort wearing an eye patch for example, began in the 70's movies. (He originally had a scar on his left temple in the books, they gave him an eye patch because they thought it looked more sinister). As well as Rochefort's expanded role into one of D'artagnan's main adversaries, and usually have a one on one fight to the death with him at the end of the movies (something that also was not present in the books but added in the 70's movies).

The Musketeer from 2002 was probably one of the worst movies I've seen.

Michael York's Three Musketeer movies were awesome. Reminds me of The Princess Bride with the dry humor.

Hm. Interesting. Not big on the 3D, because odds are they aren't actually filming it in 3D, but just converting it for the extra buck.

Still, I'll give it a shot. But to be honest, I really don't want to see another "Rochefort Killed my father" Musketeer story. It's been added to the movies quite often recently, and I for one like it when it's a bit closer to the novel. However, the novel is 700 pages, and it's hard as hell to condense into one movie. But still, I'm interested to see what they come up with.
