I understand that prejudice is ugly and it can offend a lot of people when practiced towards, blacks, christains, gays, whites, jews, muslims, ect.

but since I admitted it was wrong, I really don't think so many people should have jumped on me so quickly causing me to bite back. I admitted it was wrong, but people acted very hostile to me right off the bat.

I realize you guys don't like prejudice but if the person says they can't help it, than really you shouldn't be so hostile about it. I got hositle back, a little bit, but it never would have escalated like that.

I think we mostly got hostile because you belittled the death of four police officers. You may think that most, if not all, cops are corrupt, power crazy a-holes, but you would be wrong. I've encountered enough cops to know this for myself. I find most cops have got better things to do than harass the general public. I've dealt with quite a few cops who are doing the job because they feel they can make a difference. Many of them have families. Imagine how you would feel if your father was killed and someone said that he was probably a corrupt person anyway and "probably did something inappropriate to set someone off."

You disrespecting their memory by assuming that they were corrupt is sickening, and deplorable. While I don't doubt you've have some run-ins with the law where you got the shaft, I think it is grossly unfair to assume that the four cops in the story were corrupt.

Did you see my response saying that it was 10000% presumptuous?? If you look on page 2 at post #44, Kingfish says that everything you said was presumptuous. That was after I said what I said. Note that my post is gone as well. I wouldnt make this up and I wouldnt have reported your post if you said "most" or "90%" or something similar. I also would not have used that life story example.

The fact that you admit it's wrong doesn't excuse it. Even though you know it's wrong to stab random people, I guess it's still OK as long as you know it's wrong. You should try and fix it. Maybe that's why someone suggested therapy. Contrary to what you see on TV, therapists often deal with issues like this.....and they are not as petty as you think it is.

A few questions to put your statements in perspective. How may officers do you think you have dealt with in total? Ballpark? And what percentage of those were "corrupt" in your mind? And how many police officers are there in the United States? So you've dealt with, what....about 0.01% of the police officers in the US. And yet your comfortable making the blanket statements like the ones in this thread?

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you are a young guy...somewhere in your mid to late teens? I was a bit of a trouble maker when I was younger and had quite a mouth on me. But I always felt, like you, I was respectful to cops but still harassed by them. As I've grown up I was able to look back on those encounters and realized I was often less than respectful. When you form a stereotype about a group of people you have a tendency to display that in body language, tone of voice, etc. and not even realize it. I'd be willing to bet you're not always as "respectful and nice" as you think you were...or at least have portrayed yourself as.

One last thing I would suggest. Before you start condemning the hundreds of thousands of people who are police officers to "like pedophiles" you should try walking in their shoes. Try doing a ride along. I promise it will open your eyes.
