6.12 Labyrinth - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I didn't mind her at all this episode. But she was barely in it technically.

Okay, I missed about 5-6 minutes of the episode, did they ever show what was happened in the barn while Clark was in crazyland? At this point I'm almost wishing the witch storyline will come back rather than these lame Phantom Zoners. Is Clark going to actually stop anymore of them or is it all up to Martian Manhunter? Why can't Lana stay in Paris? Also that constant humming throughout the episode sucked.

Clark DID defeat the Zoner. By killing the doctor he expelled him from his mind, MM was just there to "catch" it and convince Clark he wasnt going bat **** crazy

So why was the MM in the Phantom Zone to begin with?

where did you get that he was in the PZ?

As for this episode, I liked it. I knew the obivious that this was based on BTAS "Perchance to a Dream"

No. Perchance to a Dream was about Batman/Bruce Wayne living in his perfect world through the Mad Hatter's machine.

The episode that's similar to tonight's Labyrinth is "Dreams in Darkness."

As for the next episode, it looks interesting. From the fact that Clark is with Lois (more or less due to Red Kryptonite), this will hype up Clois fans.

lol. Yeah, I'll watch the episode just for that! ;)

I guess technically Clark beat the Zoner, but Martian Manhunter was the only reason he was able to.

who said anything about MM being in the zone?

Maybe I just assumed. Remember the episode where Clark took on Batista and the MM defeated him. I assumed he was an escaped Zoner and now find out that he's the MM. That's where it came from.

Pretty cool episode. I had heard the first 4 eps back from the holiday break would be great and they havent disappointed. Loved the concept, right out of the older comics.

Phil Morris was really good as MM. That guy is a really talented actor, and I expected as much from him. It was cool we got to see his eyes light up at the end too, although I could probably due without the red vapor trail coming off him when he flies, though I guess you wouldnt be able to see him in the sky at night if they didnt do that. Anyone else notice the long dark blue coat? Nice touch there.

No doubt!

This episode was OFF THE CHAIN!! C'mon people! That scene between Clark and Lex (with Lex in the wheelchair) --> OMFG x a million!!! Chloe's death. The dialog ("then what happened?" ... "I woke up.") The entire cast's acting topped off by Welling's best performance (IMHO) to date....

Are people actually moaning about MM helping Clark defeat the phantom? Jeezes!! Stop watching the show NOW before you hurt yourselves. LOL!!

I reeeeeeeee-heeeeeeeeeely LOVED Justice. Love it to pieces. I've totally lost count of how many times I've re-watched it. But Labyrinth beats it. Whoda freakin' thunk? Wow... I'm blown away. :wow:

i see where your comig from with assuming that, but, its much more likely that MM just came to earth to help catch the zoners knowing that they esaped

and I guess people cant complain that Clark never punches anyone LOL He threw down at least 4 times in this episode. The janitor, 2 of Lex's security guards, and the hospital orderlies. (who for some reason looked like old school ice cream men with those bow ties :) )

Okay, maybe it's because I saw Splinter about a week ago that I didn't like this episode as much as everyone else since that episode was at least 10 times better than Labyrinth and dealt with similar themes. Better acting by Clark, no annoying humming, cooler guest DC character an no continuity problems. Now you're saying what continuity problems, Clark has his big break where season 1 starts, everything up until then has been ignored by Ma and Pa, so how were Clark and Lana such good friends when they didn't even speak to each other before Freshman year of high school? Clark's been in a mental institution for their entire friendship/relationship. Also Martha just runs into Lionel's arms after Johnathan dies? Not to mention Lionel forms a relationship with the mother of the person who caused his son to lose his legs? This story has been done many times before and a lot better. The real kicker though is we're back at square one with the Clark, Lana, Lex love triangle and that definitely deserves a:csad:

Did they show where Clark got the name Krypton from? I missed it if it was shown on any of the stuff laying around.

It's going to be fun to watch the people that think Clark is a bad person for seeing Chloe as borderline crazy in the world the phantom zone had created, when all he was doing was seeing her as his fear created. Chloe really has become a great friend for him, and I'm glad that they showed Clark tell her just how much in a round about way.

It's also interesting to see how much some people don't realize just how different Clark and Lex are from the beginnning of the series. When Clark told Lex it was great to see him, Clark really meant it but Lex has built his mind so different of late, his descent to what he is mainly known for is closer with each passing episode.

I love the naysayers, they just make me realize how good this show is and I enjoy it that much more.

I hope MM gets more time, he is such a great and underused character.
Was he afraid of the Zippo or the flame...I keed. I always thought it was funny that a guy that pretty much has laser vision is afraid of fire, but if I had been through what he has, I might be too.

4.5/5

umm it was an episode in an alternate reality for Clark that was supposed to be the worst thing imaginable for him, it wasnt supposed to jive with continuity. It was supposed to confuse Clark and make him question what he thought he knew of the world. Although remember he told Lana that she was with Whitney not him, so in a way they did address your point about her...

Great episode, michael Rosenbaum only had one scene basically and he was amazing. Tom welling was great to, but the end with the Lana thing seems like nothing new lol.

I think there was an old JLA comic where the Flash told MM that he bet his hell would be a Tesla concert (with all the lighters in the air)

man that really shows my age :(

some would argue Clark already has. He already said he'll finish his training with Jor-El once he rounds up all the Zoners....

Yeah and since then, we've had;

Rage - PSA against steroid use.
Static - Lana and Lex fighting a meteor freak, with a side story about an escaped Zoner that Clark didn't even defeat.
Subterranean - The less said about that the better
Hydro - Meteor Freak
Justice - Great episode, Clark does say he'll stay behind in Metropolis/Smallville to round up the Zoners.
Labyrinth - Another Zoner episode that actually took center stage, but he wouldn't be able to stop it without Martian Manhunter

So that's 3 of 6 episodes dealing with Clark's destiny and one of those episodes dealt with it as a back/side story.

Lana and Clark clearly had a deeper relationship earlier on in the dreamreality. They spoke as kids, he gave her a ring. None of that ever happened in the shows real continuity. The Martha/Lionel thing was a little weak, but it's just a manifestation of one of his fears so it didn't require much in the way of rational. The only conuinity error I noticed was in the doctor saying Clark referred to the meteor rocks as kryptonite, when he's never done this in the series.

I'm with you on Static and Subterranean. Other than that, they've got to do a whole season and theres only so many Zoners left, so we had to knwo it was going to get strung out a bit.

They will probably save Clark going into training for the finale. The rest of the season I am sure especially after next weeks episode regular Clark will want to patch things up with everyone before he goes into training.

Guess the Whitney comment was during the part of the episode I missed (DVR stopped recording half way through the episode causing me to miss 5-6 minutes). However, don't buy the whole alternate reality for his entire life, the doctor made it sound like the reality shifted at freshman year. Conveinent that Clark was still on the bridge for Lex's accident in this alternate reality.
