8.12 - Bulletproof - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

In terms of lana

Bride and Bulletproof(save last scene) were good. Legion was sort of pointless(unless you consider Irma telling Lana twice how wonderful she was entertaining) with the exception of the Last scene(which i though was good). Now if you put the bulletproof lana plot with legion ending scene, that to me would be a good episode involving Lana.

As for the 3 episodes, I enjoyed all 3 and actually though Bulletproof(save the last scene which made me want to pull my hair out) was one of the better episodes of the season. Clark being proactive and a hero = great. Clark regressing to a relationship like a 14 year = terrible

I totally support this post.
I'm not a fan of where they're taking Lana in terms of "Power". But I thought the way they were building her was alright.

Christ, it almost feels like they were set with a story to wrap Lana up and were like ".... Crap. We've got another episode in Kristin's contract. We have to use it. write some crap about Drama, and Powers."

Bulletproof is now on iTunes if anyone needed it...I wonder what the hold up was

Great job as always Trip. You always bring out a lot of the points I never even consider from the technical film-making aspects of the show. I always love the little bits about the costume/set design, lighting, etc. Very few if any reviews ever mention that nuance of the show. Most never comment outside of the script so it makes yours quite unique and gives you a credibility over a lot of the others.

I will say this though, being a former reviewer myself, I was a bit surprised that literally no one mentioned that for the first time ever in the show in this episode we finally had public recognition of superheros. When Turpin and the cops were talking about the "capes." Granted, it's not at the point like in the DCU where they're out in public, working with the cops, etc. But they are there and at least their existence is known, and they've moved past the stage of being urban legend, well except for the "red blue blur" that is. You get the sense that they're at the dawn of a new age in that world where once Clark decides to "come out" in Superman form, that the DCU we know and love will start to come to fruition in the next few years.

I thought that was sorta out in the open in the show anyway.

There'd been stories on the Red-Blue blur and the Green Arrow mentioned in the show...

Although, yeah, I liked that he referred to them as capes... That whole conversation was really interesting and I liked the way both men played it.

Danny was dismissive and Clark was trying to guage just how someone else feels about that who isn't all fanboyish or fangirlish (like Lois or Jimmy or even Danny's son).

Not sure, I always got the impression that the red-blue blur was still an urban legend to the public at this point.

As for GA, has his existence ever been confirmed by anyone other than Lois/Lex? I dint think he had been widely known by anyone outside of them and a few thugs until this episode.

I started reviewing with season 4's Onyx, which was like the 17th episode that year...

If you want to check a specific review, put it in like this:

www.kryptonsite.com/onyxreview.htm

Just put the episode name in front of the 'review' in that address...

All Except Labyrinth use that naming convention, that's here:

www.kryptonsite.com/labreview.htm

Before Onyx I reviewed the rest of season 4 for TVTome.com, they're now tv.com, but my reviews aren't up there anymore....

They pulled the reviews they had down when they changed names.

If you're curious what I gave a particular 4th season episode before Onyx, I can tell you, but they're sorta stinky so I told Craig (when he offered) that I didn't want him to bother posting them.

Although, I really liked my Sacred review... it was snarky.

:D

That was the one that Craig read that he liked enough to offer me the K-site job....

I actually had a job reviewing for a local weekly paper, but the pay was lousy and I missed a deadline and he canned me.

No biggie, though.

I'm not sure I can write a review of a movie in 500 words or less.

;)

Congrats: it's a great review. Again you focused on the major parts of the episode and your arguments were well constructed.

Again congrats. Keep up the great work.

Thanks!

:D

I'm going to try and finish Power before Requiem airs, it was fooling with my head that I hadn't finished Bulletproof yet before Power aired.

I couldn't stop thinking about super-girl!Lana when I was trying to write bulletproof's review.

*shudders*

This time, I think I will need a palette cleanser.

Maybe I'll go back and watch Identity or Committed before viewing Requiem....

Yeaa lol I figured that little trick out earlier lol I was interested what you thought of one of my; if not my favorite episode of the series "Hidden" from season 5 and obviously we share a common like for that one, that was a great review btw made me wanna pull my S5 dvd out and watch the episode:yay: anyways keep up wth the great work! I'll be sure to keep on reading your reviews

I found the episode very good. Showing clark's cleverness to disguise himself, penetrate the police force and keep up with them without anyone noticing, THAT was good ! the detective work at the hospital was good too : seeing Clark investigating was a nice touch that can be added to the personnality of CK.
I also felt that the different chats between Danny Turpin and Clark were well written. and the end with Lana was sweet, especially since Clark first told Chloe something like "no, not gonna happen ... ... maybe."
Overall I found it was a good episode, it is always good to see GA.
The more it goes and the more I find Smallville qualities are in the details. The only thing I disliked was the end : John Jones with Oliver and Clark, I felt the small talk of Jones was fake and badly acted, and badly written. Which is odd since I think Phil Morris is very good as an actor and as J'onn J'onz!
