6th grade teacher writes "loser" on girl's assignment

You know kids these days don't hear anything grown ups tell them. That's why he put it in writing.

Carlin is right again. No child will ever again hear the character building words:

"Ya lost, Bobby. You're a loser."

Yeah they do. When their boss fires them they say, "Clean your desk out, you're a ****ing loser. Get the **** outta here."

Teachers unions are only problems in the North. Here in the south there are none. And tenure I've never seen used outside of colleges here.

Tenure is there, you may not hear about it, but its there. Teachers that have taught 10+ years in a district are hard as hell to get rid of if there is a problem. Most districts require an enormous amount of documentation over a 2 year period before firing a teacher that has a number of years in that district and is no longer on a probationary contract.

The South DOES have Teacher's Unions we just don't call them Unions, we call them Teacher's Organizations, and you get a lawyer with sign up just like you do with the Unions in the North, and ACTUALLY, these organizations have some of the largest lobby power that rivals that of the Northern Teacher's Unions...

Between this and the say no to drugs thread, I feel my faith in the public education system has been irreparably damaged :P

I have to admit, I did laugh at the note "-20% for being a loser"

As far as tenure goes, I am currently taking a "education as a profession" class to eventually become a teacher, and tenure has been one of the topics we've talked about. According to the class, you get tenure after 3 years of teaching.

Really. I honestly don't see any of that here.

I remember when I was in 6th grade an in my math class the teacher asked the class a question an when someone answered wrong she told him "you'd be better off picking up trash in the side of the road". No one liked her either an no one got along with her so its not like she was playing with a student let alone one she liked. I remember I complained about her to the office an the next school year she "resigned"
