The Dark Knight A stroll into the archives re: Ledger casting

God i cant wait to see a heath ledger version of "ulaeulaeulaeulaeu" from ytmnd.

Yeah, let's try not to bump these old threads.

Reading those old posts makes it feel like 2006 all over again. When we had pretty much NOTHING to occupy ourselves with.

This is from the first Heath thread, I love it when people attempt to be intellectual and come off as total ******s and this is pure gold:

They may end up loosing a lot of Black fans because most of the african american culture does not embrace homosexuality, and the fact he attatched himself to that project will have people get some distaste towards Batman.

Why did you find Brokeback Mountain offensive if I might ask?

Ahhhhhh.....a loaded question.

I love these, so...so...entertaining, if I may be permitted as small bon mot.

If you want to do a movie about gay men and whatnot, fine & dandy.

HOWEVER:

1. I really do not want to see Ledger's - or whomever it was - schlong hanging out in the first ten minutes or so of the movie.

2. Graphic gay sex scenes of that nature verge on porn...true, Hollywood is loaded with sex sex and more sex nowadays and I don't care for sex scenes, period.

(...and this got an Oscar nod? There were FAR more deserving films that year.)

That is for your bedroom, OK? Call me a prude to your heart's content.

I am not anti-gay, but, I really do not like being preached at - in this case nearly force-fed - agendas or propaganda.

All this crap about the film being a "sensitive, beautiful story"? Forget it.

Not my cup of tea, thank you very much.

If that offends you, well...sorry about your luck.

Now, my turn:

...why did you ask me such an curious question
?

Why did a straight man make a film about two gay guys...?

eh brokeback wasn't really preachy. If anything I now pronounce you chuck and larry is. But broke back was just a love story about two guys really nothing more. It was really overrated though, especially since it is the first hardcore gay movie.

His shlong hanging out in the first ten minutes of the movie????

Dude what version did you see, 'cause I missed THAT one! Was that the director's cut? LOL

No but really, there was a scene where they jumped into a lake, and you got to see 0.00000000002 seconds of Heath's bits (oh and there was also that scene where he took off his clothes to wash while Jack was peeling potatoes, then that scene where Jack was nude while he was washing their clothes, and....) oh never mind.....

I really had no issue with Brokeback Mountain, until the pretentious producer/co-screenwriter B!TCH said when accepting her Oscar something about "this beautiful story about the true darkness that lays in all men's hearts."

Never saw that Chuck & Larry nor was I aware of it, but I am going to squash replying here, 'cos next thing you know, I am going to be lynched! LOL

As I said, it's my opinion - you no likey? Tough crunchies! :ikyn

...but you are correct, Brokeback was WOEFULLY overrated.

Was she the same one who said that Crash winning best picture was tantamount to homophobia? If so, I too share your disdain.

i didn't see chuck and larry though ahha i just read so many reviews that it was hardcore preachy

Forget about me shutting up.

She said what????

:wow:

Glad I didn't see that!

Brick + TV Screen = well, you figure it out....LOL

Pretentious idiot. Jeez.

I didn't find it preachy at all, actually. Some nudity and one (just one..) same-sex scene, but I found the movie to be more observant in these guy's lives rather than trying to send any kind of message. We didn't have to be told how devastating the story was. Nobody had a speech about how gay men should be able to do this and that.

But, it's your interpretation of the work. I personally found it quietly powerful. I think he asked the question cause he was surprised it brought out a fairly strong reaction from you.

...Now I kinda wonder if my aunt/uncle/cousins saw it. They're pretty conservative and "ewwww teh gay!" but they dragged me to see The Hulk to "support Ang Lee." LOLs. I can be pretty assured they didn't see Lust, Caution....:oldrazz:

Never happened. Not one "schlong" appears in the entire film.

There was one sex scene, and it was hardly what you could call "graphic."

(...and this got an Oscar nod? There were FAR more deserving films that year.)

No, not really. There weren't.

I am not anti-gay, but, I really do not like being preached at - in this case nearly force-fed - agendas or propaganda.

It was a story about two men. Just their story, their tragedy. No preaching. No "message." Certainly no "agenda" or "propaganda."

All this crap about the film being a "sensitive, beautiful story"? Forget it.

No, it was just a good movie.

It was a pretty boring movie overall. hell add a bunch of sex scene keep me entertained..nope
