Casting News: Top choice for Harvey Dent

So here we are once again bringing you some exclusive casting and behind the scenes news for The Dark Knight.

Last week, we broke that Katie Holmes was indeed kicked to the curb and would not be back to reprise her role as Rachel Dawes. She tried to save a bit of face by going to The Wall Street Journal and plead her case for leaving. But c'mon now! Why The Wall Street Journal?!?! Probably because Variety and HR wouldn't let her in the door with her "entourage."

Before I get on to my Harvey Dent news, let me clear up who's up to replace Mrs. Cruise.

Batman On Film has been on the ball more than us with their casting news regarding Rachel McAdams and Cinema Blend chimed in with Emily Blunt (both are indeed in the running). Now added to the mix is Maggie Gyllenhaal. I don't particularly see Maggie as Rachel, but interesting hopeful.

So here is the big news. The leading contender for Harvey Dent is Thank You For Smoking's Aaron Eckhart.

Great choice as far as I'm concerned. Physically, he fills up a suit well and he has the chops.

Heh, I always did have him in the back of my mind as a possible candidate. Pretty good choice I'd say.

Great movie. And, he really shows off some charisma in it. I have no doubts he could do the charming Dent and the homicidal Two-Face.

In Black Dahlia he plays an officer who has some "troubling" moments. Could be an indication of how he'd play the conflicted D.A.

I've always disliked his hair. It's just so "off".

I don't mind it. And if they decide to keep him blond, it would really fit the whole Harvey "Apollo" Dent element the character had in his early appearances.
