Because, you know.... that whole thing with Regina controlling Graham for sex for 28 years totally never happened.

The funny thing about this hook "hate" is that its complete bull.
Some people say he ruins the show etc, yet:

-His funko figure is the best selling one in ouat, so successful that they made a second one.
-The most liked Facebook posts on the official ouat account, involve him.
-The Critics constantly praise this character and his actor.
-The Episodes that focus on him more, are some of the highest rated ones.

And the whole Hook is a rapist thing, is the dumbest thing i ever heard.

It's simple the majority like him so therefore the "true" fans must hate him. It would the same with any character

So he's basically the Felicity of ONCE? I just wish they would give us a better poster. The apple is dead, no longer serves any purpose.

I actually rather like that poster. The flames give the apple a good look.

But yeah, I wouldn't mind them moving away from the apple in promo artwork. For the life of me, the choice to make the show's third season poster an image of Regina with the apple will never make sense to me. They were on the way to Neverland to face Peter Pan. They couldn't have factored that in instead? At least with the apple posters since then, they've actually made narrative sense (Elsa with the frozen apple, Dark Swan with the black apple, Hook with the apple surrounded by Hellfire).

The Season 5B theme, "Unfinished Business," becomes evident in the premiere (aka Episode 100) as Emma, Rumple et al encounter foes and family — Cora and Peter Pan included — in the Underworld, which in small part "looks like a screwed-up version of Storybrooke," says co-creator Adam Horowitz. And though our heroes embarked to save Hook, "That impetus is the tip of the iceberg," Horowitz makes clear. "That's just our entry way to another world and a wealth of stories that impact all our characters." As the saga unspools, Emma "comes to terms with the fact that her role as Savior is just beginning," the Charmings realize there are "consequences to their headstrong jump to the Underworld, leaving a child behind," and Regina and her mom have an "interesting" reunion, given Cora's dying words — all while Hades (Greg Germann) lords over his domain, harboring an "important," non-familial tie to someone. Though left behind in Storybrooke, Belle "becomes very involved" in the main arc (as does Oz-tracized Zelena), while Ruby and Mulan resurface (with a third party?) in Episode 18.

I saw someone say on Tumblr that Neal wouldn't have any unfinished business and that could be their out for not having him back when they go to the Underworld, but I call BS. The guy who didn't get to say goodbye to the son he knew for all of, like, a month wouldn't have any unfinished business? lolokay.

Even if it's just for, like, five minutes, they've gotta have Michael Raymond James in there somewhere.

I've never seen evidence of him being a rapist, but he, like Regina, like a lot of the characters on the show are just not very well written and all their fans ignore or justify their favorites behavior when they do something wrong. But it's not really an exaggeration to say that the show has become more about Hook recently. This arc is really evidence of that. But it's more a ship thing really. It's happened for Regina, Belle, Rumple and Snow and Charming. It's strange that in a show that once was more about a mother and son, now has the mother willing to highly endanger her son to get her boyfriend of less than a year back. And everyone, including dangerously son possessive Regina, is going along with it. And Snow, Charming and I guess Robin are basically all willing to risk orphaning their children to do this as well. The show is just not working with how this romance is being written.

I think they feel sorry for him. Emma and Hook seem more mutual whereas with Neal, he isn't as interesting. The writers didn't give him a lot to do in all fairness. Colin is the James Marsters of the show, the writers made him Emma's main based on the fans' response.

When Hook and Emma met, they already had filmed 6-7 episodes ahead.
So the whole thing with Hook and Emma was not based on the reaction of fans, it was simply already written that way.

Funny in terms of the fact that the whole direction with Hook and Emma was filmed way before the season aired.

When Hook and Emma met, they already had filmed 6-7 episodes ahead.
So the whole thing with Hook and Emma was not based on the reaction of fans, it was simply already written that way.

They didn't have even a real hint of a romance until maybe the season finale though.
