She looked great in X2, but the soccer mom look both she and Halle were sporting was sooooooooooo trendy for that 2002/2003 time period. It looks dated already. It's too bad they didn't stick to more classic looks for that film.

But I agree Famke's X2 look was her most stunning turn as the Phoenix. Her hair in X3 just...pissed me off to no end. It was clearly just sitting on her head, and begging to be tugged off easily. It was about as bad as Jessica Alba's in the second FF film. :csad:

FOX's make-up dept. do not excel with wig selections. Ever.
Welp, fingers cross. At the end of the day the director/producers hire them.

Famke's best look was In X2.She looked like a real redhead there. The Wig In Last Stand
was way too fake.

I liked Halle Best as storm In X2.Her relationship with Nightcrawler and her uses of powers against military jet and saving Xavier and world.Plus liked her little moment with Rogue.I never liked her dismissing her X2 screentime as just flying the jet.

Ugh, no way. Storm's look and attitude were WAY better in X3.
As for Famke, X1 was her best look. The long hair with the glasses. Yum.

Her hair was brown and her outfits made her look frumpy and unattractive. Meh.

Which is why I'm really upset that Singer brought back Louise Mingenbach for costume design (he announced it on Twitter about a month ago).

Aside from the make-up and hair being completely dreadful, the costuming was absolutely atrocious. And I'm not just talking about the superhero/villain costumes. I'm talking about the god-awful clothing that everyone had to wear. It made them all look so homely and not charismatic at all.

I disagree with you (respectfully of course) and others who didn't care for the black roots. I think the black roots were necessary because it made the wig look natural...like it was actually growing from her head. The wigs in the past looked like terrible wigs because they were so stark from roots to ends. It just looked unbelievably fake.

Let's face it: in REAL life, many of those who have truly white hair have gray, dark brown or black roots. Storm may be a mutant, but she's still a human. I think that whole 'do gave her serious bad-ass edge which was sorely needed for the character--since Halle is often very soft-spoken.

Totally agree with you. Storm's hair in the first two movies looked blonde on film (Singer actually talked about this in the commentary... how a white wig will just look blonde on film). The darkening of the roots made Storm's hair finally look like a freakish white color that's part of a mutation and not... a blonde wig.

I would have liked a better haircut and maybe this time they'll have the balls to actually give the hair some texture like a real African woman's hair might have. Sort of like in the pic I posted but white (with black/grey roots/high/lowlights).

Couldn't they keep First Class costumer? :csad:
I know... they all looked so sharp. Of course, it helped that it was a period piece.

To Louise's credit, on the DVD extras she discussed how she was going for a timeless look, since the movie was set at an unspecified date. She didn't want anyone to be able to look at the movie and go "oh, it's the 90s" or whatever. I just think she went with designs that ended up being really dull and unflattering.

I hope with the times being vast and different she'll use more creativity. Hell, she has three settings to use; the 60's/70s, current/modern day, and possible future.

I'd imagine simply 2.

All I'm asking for really is SOME imagination.

I love these poses and pictures. They look more like their characters in these pictures than in the movies. lol. I would not mind seeing any of these actresses/characters come back for Dofp

Halle looks darker and much more suited for Storm in that image than she does in all three X-Movies. Also those earrings she's wearing reminds me of the lightning earrings she wears in the comics and in the animated series. her hair looks better too.

Thanks! I saw the photo of Halle from a recent shoot with Interview Magazine (German version) and got inspired to research the other beautiful ladies.

Here's another pic from the shoot where she is still ten times more Storm than in the movies!

All the great looks & make-up done by the costume department for FC were offset by the atrocious job they did for Beast make-up. But from the Blu-ray extras it looks like most of the final decisions for Beast's look (use of actual fur, the blue that they used) was up to Matthew so...

Not at all. Especially since Beast didn't look bad, especially not as bad as few here try to say.

LOL you've got me there!

I thought the most inventive character design from X1/X2 was Mystique, but that came from Gordon Smith and the SFX team. At least Louise kept Hugh's costumes in X2 pretty minimal. :woot:

Thank you for telling me my opinion is wrong. Where would I be without you :)

Mystique was great! And they did an awesome job with Logan with the now signature brown leather, white tank tops, jeans, and belt buckle. I even liked his weird-print shirt at the end of X2 in Xavier's office (that was shot in England). I hope they explain why he's wearing all black in The Wolverine...

I also liked Cyke's blue 3/4 sleeved button-up shirt at the beginning of X2 when he greets a returning Logan.

In the land of boredom. :csad:

Yeah, the make up team gets props for Mystique, not costuming. Working in entertainment, I do know that make up teams and costuming teams hate getting asked to fix things that the other teams should be handling.

Never been a fan of Ellen either, she kinda irritates me, tbh :o But I guess that's what Kitty does :oldrazz:.

I think its something to do with her monotone voice. She's one of my least favorite actresses ever!

I'm glad they aren't bringing back the costume designer of FC. The blue and yellow costumes didn't really look polished and they looked kinda cheap compare to the costumes of the original trilogy. Plus Magneto's costume at the end was just bad.

Really? I prefferred most the FC outfits to the original trilogy quite a bit, especially Emmas hehe..
Magnetos end costume could have looked way better though.

The black outfits were pretty uninspired.

Yes, the Magneto costume was ridiculous, but I thought the X-Men uniforms were good in that for the story they weren't supposed to be super high tech yet. What I was impressed with was all the 60s era chic costuming. And a gold star has to be given for making Emma's costumes exactly like the comics, while also looking perfectly appropriate for the era/locales/settings.

The only costume I liked from the lady who did X1/X2 was Magneto's. Rogue, Jean, and Storm had particularly awful clothing. I guess Charles had nice clothing.

And I loved Ellen in Juno!

This is a worry of mine as well. Halle/Storm in particular looked dreadful.

Oh god I haaaated Emma's costume, well the Casino one at least (her jail one was cute). JJ has an amazing figure and fantastic cleavage, it is beyond me how they couldn't find a bra that actually fit her properly. It was too big and too small in all the wrong places and didn't flatter her as it should have.

Loved the yellow and blue suits, I hope this costume designer sticks with bold color decisions.

But yes, pleeeeease, revise the Magneto costume. He looks like a kid in a last-minute Halloween costume..

Im pretty sure the fashion of the 60s played into that with Emma. At least thats how I took it. IM just glad they didnt hold back on Frosts look.

She looked dead on, and fine as hell to me.

The X2 clothing is very nice, inspiration in 70s.I still think Famke had no wig.

In the same year of X2
