Which actors out there amazed you with their breakout performance in a movie, but you want to see what they can do in the future to determine whether or not they can be good actors? Basically a "wait and see" approach?

My top two are:

- Christoph Waltz
- Sharlto Copely

Now I know that Waltz has acted for a long time, but he's fairly new to American audiences. I think both will be fine actors in Hollywood, but right now, I think it's a bit too early to tell, hence "wait and see." I do know that both of them have recently been cast in bugger budget films (Waltz in Green Hornet and Copely in A-Team) and I think both films will be a true test to see if both have that ability to be great talent and have staying power in Hollywood (which I think they will be).

christoph waltz i'm sure will hold up 100% just really depends on how well his characters are written

Copely we'll have to see

Hunter Parrish
Nicholas Hoult
Catherine Tate
Emma Stone
Imogen Poots

I'd say... most, if not all actors. Every role is different, and every actor is different in every role. So, I'd "wait and see" if an actor is good for a role, regardless of who the actor is, or what his past achievements are.

My first actors I really "waited" for was Sam Worthington in Salvation.

I was highly disappointed.

James McAvoy who was excellent in Wanted seems born to play the average non-threatning badass.

He was way way better in "Avatar".

To add to my list:

- Cary Mulligan
- Freida Pinto
- Dev Patel
- Gaby Sidibe

Perhaps you you have not seen alot his movies but I thing McAvoy has been in enough stuff by now to know his a good actor.

Garrett Hedlund and Henry Cavill are my picks

Sam Worthington.

He´s good but he could be a LOT better.

No, not really.
Sure, he was outacted by Sigourney Weaver and Zoe Saldana in "Avatar", but his performance in that was a huge step up from Marcus in "Salvation". For starters, his Australian accent wasn't even really noticeable at all in "Avatar", whereas it came out in practically all of the time in "Salvation". Which is strange, because I think he filmed "Salvation" after "Avatar".

Sam Worthington was so boring in Avatar... I dont know what people see in him. If anything I think Zoe Saldana might be promising because she did a really good job as Neytiri...but Sam...eh, I couldn't care less.

I want to see what else Shalto Copley and Gabey Sidibe have to offer. They were 2 really good breakout stars for 2009

To me, it was as if Marcus Wright teleported to the space station but broke his spine in the process. Hell, the company leader was a more believable than him to me. Worthington just wasn't believable for me but I will not lie, COTT looks pretty good.

Thats because Sam Worthinton has been a lame duck so far. I wished he'd get more than 2 facial expressions...and some charisma.

I'd be more excited for Titains if he weren't the lead.

Worthington seems to have charisma in COTT. I mean, I know Worthington really didn't get much a shot to expand and be good in Salvation because well, look at the **** **** it is. There is literally no much needed room for a much needed character like Marcus Wright to be developed. John Connor was developed over 3 (if you want to include the first Terminator) movies and Marcus Wright literally had 2 minutes in the beginning for development. That is probably the most unfair thing I can think of movie-wise.

He seems to have charisma in a trailer for a movie?

I'm going to wait till I view the actual movie to decide.:cwink:

I make split second decisions. :cwink:

I guess that wasn't the word I was wanting to use. He looks...promising?

Then again, he looked promising in the Salvation trailer.

Regarding Gaby Sadibe from "Precious"...I haven't seen the movie, but if she wants to have a long career she has to lose some weight. I'm not saying that to be a dick. That is dangerously obese.

She did a great job in Precious and deserves an Oscar nom...thats all I wanted to say.

No...I think she needs to lose weight too. There are a bunch of crazy people who are like "Good for her!!..not every actress has to be a size zero!"....but erm she is probably like 350 pounds  ... its not good to be anorexic but its also not good to be morbidly obese.

Also how is she going to find roles besides the 'fat girl who hates herself' roles? She will always be typecast if she doesn't lose some weight...and Im saying this with love because she did a great job in precious..and I saw two interviews with her in it and she seems like a very sweet and down to earth girl.
