This popped up in my RSS feeds just now, found it amusing:

"The Dark Knight" is hitting theaters in July, but the original Batman, Adam West, isn't very excited about it. He certainly has no ill will toward the movie franchise, but admits it's a very different story nowadays. "I've only seen bits and pieces of them," he tells us. "There's an enormous amount of effort and time and money that goes into the making of them, but it's a different generation. They're a different kind of thing than ours was. They're dark, gothic, sinister, full of explosions. We didn't approach it that way at all."

West was used to a much more lighthearted portrayal of the characters during their 1960s TV series. "It was silly and funny. With the villains, especially, it was almost Shakespearian because of the bizarre costuming and makeup," he recalls. "In those days we didn't rely on special effects as much so everyone was challenged to use their imaginations.

I don't remember any case in which somebody didn't really enjoy the creation of it. If it wasn't that kind of open environment, then I felt like I was a failure because I tried to go on the stage every day and create that kind of atmosphere."

Adam made a big assumption there about special effects. Nolan is anti-CGI, and if he's seen pictures of Ledger's Joker, surely he realizes that the makeup is just as crazy as the old TV show's could ever be.

That and Batman wasn't meant to be portrayed as if he and everyone around them just snorted an eight ball of coke and are on their way to a swinger martini party.

Meh, his opinion on Batman matters little.

I'm not surprised... Both he and Michael Keaton are very "meh... who cares?" when it comes to the new Batman franchise.

Keaton hasn't seen the Nolan movies, but he supports them. It was in an interview during Sundance, I think.

We probably read the same interview but I remember him saying something along the lines of he really has no interest in seeing it. Hell, he even said he hasn't fully seen Batman Returns (and probably Batman 89).

West was from a different generation, and his Batman was the Batman of those times.

Adam West is more Mayor than Batman anymore, IMO.

Exactly.

Wow, Adam =idiot.

Talk about making a major assumption. He should at least see the film before giving an interview on something he literally knows nothing about.

Oh come on...

Adam was a Batman of a different time... thats the Batman he is most fond of and why shouldn't he be.

He has made a major contribution to the characters legacy... and people should appreciate that.

He's what - in his 70's, let the man like what version of Batman he wants. And it's not as if he disrespected the Nolan version.

I wish they'd stop asking him this because he always gives the same damn answer we didn't do it like this and that, blah, blah, blah. His way of Batman has been done on screen and it was horrid.

Keaton though, they can ask, interested in what he has to say.

Hist little Bat-Dance just proves how bad the "gold old days" actually were.

How do you get that Nolan is anti-CGI when the bats from the 1st film and Two face from the 2nd uses CGI?

Nice fail dude.

oh come on of course he's going to consider himself the best batman over all and I dont really mind that i mean tdk is nothing like the old show so wth if he wants to complain about that i say good I dont want no more dancing batman ever!

He NEVER said anything bad about the franchise at all.

He is simply not interested in it.. and he did acknowledge that it was for a different 'Generation'. The guy makes total sense and you all blast him for it. He did not say one false or negative thing in that article.

So he not interested in the new Batman franchise - i'm not interested in playing with action figures anymore... people move on!!! accept it.
