All West stated was that the modern incarnation of the character, in live-action, is darker and more reliant on special effects. That's rather obvious. Then, he briefly reflected on the enjoyment he had working on the old series, the tone of which was directly lifted from the tone of the comics at the time. There's not a crossed word about Nolan, Bale, Batman or anything related in his statement whatsoever, but apparently he's to be condemned to be an delusional and irrelevant old man by some for not doing cartwheels over the current franchise. There wasn't anything remotely disrespectful or indicative of jealously in that piece. Good Lord, people. He certainly has no ill will toward the movie franchise, but admits it's a very different story nowadays.
Only in the world of fandom can someone be thoroughly vilified for being noncommittal on a source of anticipation for others.
Was the following tidbit simply overlooked in the rush to grab the torches and pitchforks?:

"....NOBODY messes with Adam WEEEE!"
How do you get that Nolan is anti-CGI when the bats from the 1st film and Two face from the 2nd uses CGI?
Nice fail dude.

I wish they'd stop asking him this because he always gives the same damn answer we didn't do it like this and that, blah, blah, blah. His way of Batman has been done on screen and it was horrid.
Keaton though, they can ask, interested in what he has to say.
HEs just being jealous about it!!
I'm a little irked that about Adam We's comments on the franchise. But slightly more so that the article calls him the "Original Batman." There is no original Batman, only actors which channel the character from the page to the screen.
And you know something else guys Adam West was not the first TV Batman. Remember the 1949 serials?
Batman and Robin was a 15-chapter serial released in 1949 by Columbia Pictures.
Robert Lowery played Batman, while Johnny Duncan played Robin. Supporting players included Jane Adams as Vicki Vale and veteran character actor Lyle Talbot as Commissioner Gordon.
