I have always liked Ironman, but after all the Civil War crap, he's just a big A-hole, and it bothers me what they've turned him into. I wish they would fix his character already.

I'm so tired of all these big story lines, I'm tired of Heroes fighting Heroes. Can we just go back to them battling the Supervillians!

this is a new era of marvel

they always said they reflect the times

well keep that in mind while you read them, what part of new direction do people not understand

he did alot wrong. but in the end he does it for his friends.

and im anti-reg but can still see tht

How many threads have been created about this? 5? 10?

Much like the plot device will be after another few issues. Unfortunately, the big Skrull event isn't supposed to happen until around this time next year. :(

I thought he was a bit of a Jerk but he redeemed himself with one line.

When he has asked why he took the job heading up SHIELD he said something along the lines of

"I'm not going to trust anyon else with the secret identities of all my friends"

Meh.

just,...................................meh.

Yeah, well, he could've pardoned Nick Fury and trusted him with the secret IDs, given that Fury knew them all already anyway. The man wanted the power that his position at SHIELD affords him, plain and simple. We already know he has political aspirations and wants to work from inside the system as well as outside--Director of SHIELD is the perfect way to do both simultaneously.

He has. It's been part of the character from the beginning.

Here's the thing, he didn't. He got in some messes to say the least, but he'd never go to the extreams he has during and now post-CW.

Well, yeah, it's an escalation of his *****ebagaliciousness, but the man's always been a bit of a *****e. Read Operation: Galactic Storm and the Armor Wars and tell me otherwise.

Tony Stark= a prick.

New fans who get turned on to iron man by next year's big budget blockbuster will be inevitably dissapointed by what a prick Tony has become.

Unless he's a prick in the movie. A morally ambiguous hero for a more cynical time.

That's interesting you brought up the movie. I've read some things Downey Jr. has said about the character of Tony Stark, and he seems to be drawn to the idea that on the surface, he's the most unlikable person on the planet, when in reality, he's got a good heart (er...bad heart...whatever) and he's a true hero.

maybe tony's trying too hard to redeem himself for the fiaco that cost him the secratary of defense position:ninja:

So, basically, Robert Downey Jr. is playing Tony Stark as of Civil War.

Well...no. He mentioned that he liked Stan Lee's take on Tony the best. The part about Tony seeming like the biggest dick on Earth, I think comes from the fact that he manufactures weapons for the government, is a playboy, inherited his money, is an alcoholic, etc...things that either aren't really reedeemable qualities or things most people would be jealous of. But really, he's a likeable guy, good natured guy.

At least, that's what I got out of it. And really, Robert Downey Jr. can play Stark however he wants. He's yet to unimpress me.

I wouldn't call Iron Man particularly likeable, myself. He's usually been an outright dick.
