Spider-Fan930,
A teacher eh? As a teacher myself, remind me to give you the one bit of advice I always give people going into the business
What advice?
My family is calling me crazy for my carreer choice, lol.
In all due respect.....your family is wrong....
The respect and importance of the teaching profession, comes from how the teacher sees their profession, not other's perception of it....
I hear of teachers talking about being disrespected in and out of the classroom........and then you hear the same teachers griping about being a teacher.....and how education sucks.......and how they aren't getting the backing from "whoever" at the time.....
Then on the otherside of the coin, you have those teachers who respect themselves and the kids respond to that with respect....the teacher's classroom is one of respect, and the kids will follow that lead......this teacher does not look to others for backing, they get the job done themselves.....
The question was, in my mind, not the question of becoming a teacher, BUT what kind of teacher I wanted to become......![]()
OK, thats all of the teacher's bloviation I have........![]()
Be honest though. If you are Tim Story and Fox comes to you and is like, "you wants to direct the Fantastic Four?" you ain't gonna say no. None of us would, regardless if we feel we have the talent or not. Everybody thinks they have the talent. I may read all the venom spewed my way after the fact, but that comes with the job. If you think a director would say, "I'd love to, but I feel that someone with more experience should take this franchise on", you are nucking futs. That's basically admitting you don't have the cajones for the job.
Martin Scorsese was originally set to direct Schindler's List but dropped out because he was not familiar with it's territory so he suggested Steven Spielberg direct it instead.
MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
On another, back in the 80s Spielberg turned down the chance to direct Superman films. Directors turning down positions because they don't believe they can do the characters justice happens all of the time![]()
FF did not get the shaft? FF2 is a solid movie and one of Marvels better films.
Where do you think Singer is in the learning process? Because he "shafted" Superman even though he's considered a masterful director by fanboys. Go figure.
Considering Sue's motherhood could be the character growth needed for the character. I say do one more film with MULTIPLE VILLIANS!( Skrulls) and have Sue pregnant at the end.
Recast the four for the fourth film and have Sue dealing with trying to deal with being pregnant and a member of the team. It's Knocked Up for Superheroes. Gold baby, Gold!
What advice?
My family is calling me crazy for my carreer choice, lol.
Ok, here's my advice after 15 yrs in the class room. First of all I don't think you're crazy. I'm a big believer in doing what your heart calls on you to do. If you're not happy going into law then don't do it. The school business needs more good people in it. More smart, thinking outside of the box, type of people. My advice doesn't have anything to do with in the classroom. All the little tricks of the trade that you'll eventually accumulate in your Professional bag of tricks- you'll learn that stuff as you go. My one piece of advice is make one moment of the day all about you - just for you. Sometimes that moment is me going into my office and taking a deep breath.
There's a faculty restroom in one of the halls of my school that is boy/girl. When I approach it I never know if it's occupied being that my school has so few. When I go up to it I take a deep anticipatory breath before I push on the door to see if it's locked. The exhiliration of uncertainty I feel just before I know if someone is in there is sometimes the best feeling I have all day. But it's all about me at that moment. As pathetic or melodramatic as that may sound sometimes that's the little thing that gets me through the day. The fact that I've taken one moment to focus on someone (myself) who can easily get lost in the rigours of the day helps me keep my sanity and helps me be a better teacher. Wasn't it Billy Joel who said "do what's good for you, or you're not good for anybody"?
So there you go...my advice for what it's worth.
