In all due respect.....your family is wrong....

The respect and importance of the teaching profession, comes from how the teacher sees their profession, not other's perception of it....

I hear of teachers talking about being disrespected in and out of the classroom........and then you hear the same teachers griping about being a teacher.....and how education sucks.......and how they aren't getting the backing from "whoever" at the time.....

Then on the otherside of the coin, you have those teachers who respect themselves and the kids respond to that with respect....the teacher's classroom is one of respect, and the kids will follow that lead......this teacher does not look to others for backing, they get the job done themselves.....

The question was, in my mind, not the question of becoming a teacher, BUT what kind of teacher I wanted to become......:yay:

OK, thats all of the teacher's bloviation I have........:cwink:

I agee my family is wrong. Wouldn't be doing it if I thought they were right. My family just wouldn't like to handle all the kids. While I wouldn't want to handle elementary school kids, teens I can handle.

Reason I chose it is because I have been doing it on a smaller scale for a while. I used to help people understand things outside of class all the time. You should see my yearbook, every comment in it discusses how I am one of the smartest people they knew. I always liked helping people.

I also would like to motivate people, because I knew plenty of students who didn't care about school or even trying. My goal is to convince people to try. I am not asking for everyone to score an A. I am fine if someone gets a D, but was at least trying.

Be honest though. If you are Tim Story and Fox comes to you and is like, "you wants to direct the Fantastic Four?" you ain't gonna say no. None of us would, regardless if we feel we have the talent or not. Everybody thinks they have the talent. I may read all the venom spewed my way after the fact, but that comes with the job. If you think a director would say, "I'd love to, but I feel that someone with more experience should take this franchise on", you are nucking futs. That's basically admitting you don't have the cajones for the job.

Martin Scorsese was originally set to direct Schindler's List but dropped out because he was not familiar with it's territory so he suggested Steven Spielberg direct it instead.

MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

On another, back in the 80s Spielberg turned down the chance to direct Superman films. Directors turning down positions because they don't believe they can do the characters justice happens all of the time ;)

I say give Story FF4 and introduce Namor with it. Let someone talented take over the Silver Surfer solo movie. Story should finish his trilogy with Namor and I honestly think the FF4 should be a live action TV show. It could totally work.

Steven Speilberg turned down Superman.....I wonder how those movies would have turned out.

FF did not get the shaft? FF2 is a solid movie and one of Marvels better films.

Where do you think Singer is in the learning process? Because he "shafted" Superman even though he's considered a masterful director by fanboys. Go figure.

Singer a masterful director....? Not I. I give him points for X2, but his vision for the X-franchise was severely lacking and underwhelming. I know, Batman and Robin debacle, comicbook movies in jeopard, yyada, yada, yada. Still no excuse. I haven't even bothered to see Singers's ode to the Donner films, and really have no desire to.

Considering Sue's motherhood could be the character growth needed for the character. I say do one more film with MULTIPLE VILLIANS!( Skrulls) and have Sue pregnant at the end.

Recast the four for the fourth film and have Sue dealing with trying to deal with being pregnant and a member of the team. It's Knocked Up for Superheroes. Gold baby, Gold!

 wow

:woot:

You know you love it.

Wait til I sell my Supergirl and the Legion of Superheroes script in five years.

Well, maybe she was pregnant and Franklin has some power cosmic in him now!

I think it is possible.

You know Reed uses his powers when he and Alba are doing it.

Tim has done the past 2 films so why the heck not? Let him direct FF3 because I think he has a lot of fun directing this franchise.

Ok, here's my advice after 15 yrs in the class room. First of all I don't think you're crazy. I'm a big believer in doing what your heart calls on you to do. If you're not happy going into law then don't do it. The school business needs more good people in it. More smart, thinking outside of the box, type of people. My advice doesn't have anything to do with in the classroom. All the little tricks of the trade that you'll eventually accumulate in your Professional bag of tricks- you'll learn that stuff as you go. My one piece of advice is make one moment of the day all about you - just for you. Sometimes that moment is me going into my office and taking a deep breath.

There's a faculty restroom in one of the halls of my school that is boy/girl. When I approach it I never know if it's occupied being that my school has so few. When I go up to it I take a deep anticipatory breath before I push on the door to see if it's locked. The exhiliration of uncertainty I feel just before I know if someone is in there is sometimes the best feeling I have all day. But it's all about me at that moment. As pathetic or melodramatic as that may sound sometimes that's the little thing that gets me through the day. The fact that I've taken one moment to focus on someone (myself) who can easily get lost in the rigours of the day helps me keep my sanity and helps me be a better teacher. Wasn't it Billy Joel who said "do what's good for you, or you're not good for anybody"?

So there you go...my advice for what it's worth.

To the naysayers: How about F. Gary Gray?

He's done some good pictures and I'm sure he could pull off a good FF movie. What about somebody like, uh, John Singleton? Yeah, John Singleton would be PERFECT for an FF movie. He could manage all the ethos and the heart and the family conflicts...

Why not these directors?

What about Carl Franklin? He directed the "A-Team" series...

I appreciate the advice. I will remember this.

Black directors I could see taking on future superhero flicks are....F. Gary Gray, Antoine Fuqua, and...wait for it.....Forest Whitaker.

I think Antoine Fuqua is a better director than Zack Snyder...

I'd like to see his version of "Watchmen".

Completely agree with Antoine Fuqua. I think he could do a good job.

What about Alphonso Cuaron who did the 3rd Potter movie? He showed he can do fantasy, special effects, drama, good story telling sense. I thought he just knocked that one out of the park.

I don't think Cuaron is the type of director we're looking for.

Someone more along the lines of Antoine Fuqua or F. Gary Gray or even John Singleton.

I don't know if Cuaron if capable of doing an FF movie, although his previous movies have been pretty good.

The way Gary Gray did Set It Off and Italian Job, you could really see him doing a dysfunctional superhero group combining drama and comedic elements. Though I'm sure if they had announced him he would've gotten the same amount of grief.
