After watching X1 and X2 again recently.....

I think it will be close but I think X3 will top SR. X3 is more recently established and SR may piss off a lot of fans as well...with all the retooling that they are doing. X3 also had a huge overhaul with promotions, images, and clips than SR has.

However I think Superman has a larger fan base amongst the general public then X-men.

Maybe in 1989

There might not be a huge hype around the character but there is a dormnt enthusiam about him that I think could be reawakened when the movie comes out.

Not knowin much about Superman, unlike X-men, I'd say still today that Superman is a more recognised, iconic superhero. If you asked a non-fan to name a superhero, Superman would be near to the top of their list. An x-man probably wouldn't.

Don't get me wrong, I HOPE x-men does better

I've talked to a few people at my theater and it's also apparently tricky to get new/old Superman audiences to take in this "new" and unknown Superman actor...Most doubters will probably see it anyway because it's Superman, but might not be in any rush to see it. After 5 movies and a long running tv show, some people might be bored with the whole concept...

They should have rebooted the Superman franchise like Batman Begins....I think continuing with the orginal Superman will make some Christopher Reaves fans mad

Yeah, but the Superman franchise is too precious to too many people.Besides,it wasnt bad from what I remember.

I'm just going to watch it for the hell of it. It will be like my x-men withdrawal patch

I`m going to see SR also...But i`ll see X3 like 3 or 4 times

Ive booked 2 tickets to see it twice on the same day. Its such a good movie

I think SR will be a good movie as i think Singer is a great director. But it may be drowned out (pun intented) by Pirates, i think SR will be a better movie than X3 also.

Pirates of the Carribean will hand SR's @ss to it on a silver platter. Pirate's will be the #1 movie of the summer and SR will be just like DVC. It will do great the first weekend but then get trumped by a bigger, better movie the following weekend. X3 will make more money. You can have one major movie each month, yet they will all be critiqued and compared. And yes, Fox cares about what critics have to say about their movies...otherwise they wouldn't have press screenings.
FOX cares about what critics say NOW, not what (and they won't) do when the money is all in and they are approaching their 5th weekend. As I said you're setting up this abstract notion of better and then saying, FOX doesn't like the fact that Superman is also Marsden's movie because everyone will be rating which superhero flick was better at the end of the Summer. FOX DOESN'T CARE. They are in it for the money, not for some abstract notion of "better" on comics2film.com summer review chart. The only people who bother to compare these movies are precious little fanboys who seem to think such comparisons are important. They aren't. X3 is no more worried about how you feel about Superman than they are how you feel about the Batman Begins franchise. You will probably see the movie openning day, and then again in about week. Thats about all they are counting you in for. By the time Superman is out they will have made all their money off of the masses for the most part.
