To me, it sounds like a guy is a loser who can't get a girl from among his peers, so he goes trolling the playground for impressionable young things who think dating an 'older guy' automatically makes them more 'sophisticated' and 'mature'.

Way to take things too literally. It was a flippant comment in the same vein as saying 'having a ferrari' sounds great, when in reality they're ridiculous cars reserved for middle aged men having a mid life crisis.

I don't think it's great dating a teen. I have dated a teen and it's rubbish. I spent the entire relationship being slightly aloof as I didn't want to shoulder the responsibilty of being the one who destroys a young girl's faith in men when the inevitable clash of personalities occurs.

I wouldn't do it again, and have no desire to.

With that said, I think writing off any relationship between an older guy and younger girl as nothing more than a wacko patrolling the streets for potential targests, is mind numbingly ******ed.

It's been happening forever. Highest teenage pregnancy rates were in the 1940s and 1950s...and don't get started on previous centuries, we just rationalized such behavior with very early marriage and the subjugation of women.

It's funny how the guy is instantly called out for being a perv, when quite often it's these young little flussies lying about their age and attending grown-up parties, who are looked at as victims.

Don't get me wrong I'm sure there are plenty of pervs who prey on younger women, but it seems to me that our society needs to start teaching/impressing and/or stressing to women that it is just as 'IMMATURE' to act older than your age as it is to date younger than your age!!!

Hmmm....with a couple unnotable exceptions, I've always gravitated towards women who were either my age or a few years my senior. I invariably found younger women to be too immature, insecure, and unsure of who they are overall for my liking as a generalization. My wife is a couple years older than me, as a matter of fact.

I didn't take it personally, though, and I was agreeing with you, dating a teen isn't great. I was just pointing out that you may want to reserve the knee jerk reaction you had as every relationship is born under different circumstances, and I don't think the genuine good guys would appreciate being lumped into your loser catagory.

I don't know if it's young girls becoming ****tier, or boys feeling more pressured to 'get some' so they go for easy marks... or a combination.

Girls that age are going to me incredibly flattered to have a guy that age pay attention to them. It's an age where kids (girls and boys) are trying to prove how 'mature' they are, and that they're not 'kids' anymore, and having an older guy pay attention to you 'validates' that. It says: "Look, here's this 'mature' person (from the point of view of a 13-year-old) who thinks I'm his equal." Many young girls would be willing to do a lot to hold on to that... including having sex even if they're not really sure they want it, because they're fear is if they don't... they won't be seen as 'mature'.

It's an attitude most girls grow out of pretty quickly around the time they graduate from HS.

Most men, not all. I think there are situations were the gender roles are reversed. A lonely guy looking for comfort, and a girl who is after an easy catch. Given the present climate of 'girl power' and all that jazz, I'd say that the latter is on the increase.

I really agree with this... It's also funny how 'ALL MEN WERE DOGS' and this mentality was completely disgusting when men were the ones doing it. Now that women have 'more' social/sexual freedoms it seems that they are still just innocent victims caught up in social snares and desires to be accepted....

Where was all this understanding when it was just us guys.

I did an "I'm 34, she's 24", but I prefer to be with people who will get ancient references...and people that I don't have to tutor on "how-to-live".

I think I was around 25 when a 16 year old was agressively (CUckoo! CUckoo!) pursuing me and I wasn't even tempted. Her skin reminded me of babies, and she was smart as a ping pong ball.

If a 20 something's hunting minors I say close/delete/maim.

age isn't the issue for me, it's moral stance on life....

secondary school kids shouldn't date primary school kids

university folk shouldn't date school kids

workers shouldn't date students.

the only difference is whether or not the relationship started when both parties are in a fold but then change because one evolves into another.

it's just about what frame of mind a person is in.

at this moment in time, i wouldn't date any uni first years or second years (unless they are second years with year out experience), they really can be so annoying and quite dirty peeps.

No where did I say anything about the 'entire male population'. I was talking very specifically about older guys who thought dating a teen sounded great. You know... the topic of the thread.
