Still not sure what they're doing with Cap but I wouldn't be surprised to see him in both parts - he did an interview at the end of last year where he said he still had four more films to go including AoU. It may simply be that they're getting around that tricky 6 film contract stuff because they're shooting IW as one film but splitting it in half. Otherwise they'd be missing IM, Cap and Thor from one of the two films!

It's also not confirmed if Evans is leaving because he's mentioned before the idea of maybe keeping the Marvel stuff as his onscreen work and then directing the rest of the time. I think it's all up in the air still (hence why Stan has a nine movie contract because they really have no idea how many they'll need him for) but they'll try to hold on to their big stars for as long as they possibly can. That and I really don't see how they can do Bucky's arc justice in CW with so many other characters and plot lines in it now - it feels like that's going to need a whole other film in its own right!

Back to AoU:

Basically the only thing I find disappointing about the film at the mo is what they've done with Banner. They seem to be mostly retreading his story from last time (doesn't want to be the Hulk, can't control it) and then making him look pretty selfish by deciding he wants to abandon his friends just before a major battle (taking one of their best fighters with him) and then leaving them half way through. That's a pretty crappy thing to do tbh.

Hulk don't particape at the final battle ?

Exactly like they looked on the trailers, the light-blue stream of after-image glow. Enjoy it while you can, you won't see any speedsters again in the MCU...:csad:

We will have a Speedster again because if I never see Tommy Shepherd and rest of the Young Avengers, I'll Be angrier than Hulk!

I just don't understand why he'd just wake up when it's time to battle Thanos.

I think they should set up the scene for Crossbones to take him out and have Spider-man swoop in to stop him and save the day. Sounds funny, but it'd give Spider-man a good entrance into the MCU. :cwink:

If Spider-Man had been established in the MCU already and had multiple movies out like then that could have led to a really Death of Spider-Man movie. Would have fit with Civil War tie ins.

Instead of Stark starting "Avengers Academy", it'd have been great if he started S.W.O.R.D. That could have led way to Carol Danvers, Spiderwoman, and more insight to what's going on in space. Maybe having Civil War end with Mar-Vell crashing to Earth to warn of Thanos (leading way to IW) and Carol Danvers getting injured. A wasted opportunity.

I wonder if they'll ever do "Spider-man: Secret Wars", or will they consider that an Avengers movie instead.

He doesn't want to. Bruce asks Nat to leave with him before it begins because he doesn't want to do all this any more. She tries to persuade him to stay and help. But then they hear the battle starting and she can't abandon their friends so kicks him down a hole to force him to change into the Hulk.

Part way through the battle he leaves on a quinjet and purposely crashes into the ocean.

The mid credit scene has Thanos pull out the Gauntlet without any gems on it and he say: “I guess i’ll have to do it myself” as he puts it on.

Marvel released a new clip featuring Maria Hill explaining Quicksilver's powers, but nothing in there says that he has "regenerative cells".

All she says is he has increased metabolism and improved homeo stasis, whatever that means.

I don't see how they bring him back.

Not quite as dramatic as Buffy actually killing the dude but the theme is the same lol sigh. I was hoping ElMayimbe's "it's very Buffy/Angel" when he described the romance was an exaggeration because it's not a trope that suits either character. :/

Plus there was:

and this which are quite similar in theme:

Prior to the Avengers Whedons most famous work was the Buffy/Angel romance. The story in these images ran over two seasons and was developed gradually and had real impact. I strongly doubt that the same can be achieved in an already packed 2 hour movie, using two characters who don't come close to matching the Buffy/Angel chemistry (which was there from their first scene together).

Bruce doesn't want to be the Hulk still. The whole out of control moment seems to convince him that he's better off out of it. He asks Nat to come with him but she won't abandon the others in the fight, forces him to change and he then purposely crashes himself in the ocean and leaves. Nat joins Steve to start a new Avengers.

This just seems out of character as well. He keeps his distance during the movie, then suddenly changes his mind and asks her to run away with him? Also hoping Widow doesn't get reduced to the sad girlfriend who gets left behind. Not good for either character.

Also, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, he said a lot of that stuff about leaving before his directoral stuff kinda flopped. The same with RDJ, he's tried to do some outside stuff with less than stellar success. It wouldn't surprise me if those things have made both actors a tiny bit more eager to stay with the MCU, at least so they can keep the paychecks coming at the same time they have the freedom and exposure to go off and do "smaller" type movies.

It kinda feels like they're merging Hulk/Banner's story with Pym's from the comics... As Pym wanted to leave and did leave after Ultron....

Sounds to me like we've got a case of Iron Man 3 all over again. The hardcore fans are nit-picky about decisions that don't reflect the source material, but the reaction overall is generally positive. The only thing I don't like from what I've heard so far is killing off QS already. Kinda wish they killed off someone else who was already established. I guess they figured since we're gonna have 2 Flashes plus Fox's QS that it'd be too many fast guys.

On a side note, Timothy Olyphant was on Conan last night and talked about how he screen tested for Iron Man the same day RDJ did. I actually think he could have been great as well! Here's a video for it:

The first part is correct but one correction...

He doesn't leave part way through the battle. He leaves when it's pretty much done. DarkPhoenix says so several pages back.

I'm glad at least that Nat puts her foot down (literally) and refuses to abandon the others. She may be sad but she teams up with Steve to train the New Avengers because she believes in what they're doing. Scarlett says that Nat doesn't necessarily like it but she understands she has a higher calling which ties in very well with her gaining Steve's trust during TWS and obviously having issues with how people don't trust her.

Very true!

He basically said that doing Marvel stuff gives him the freedom to do Indie stuff on the side and I don't blame him if he stays.

I hope those are true because it discounts all the fake rumors, Roger Wardell, Latino Review, etc.

Also, I called it on Linda Cardellini being Hawkeye's wife.

I love the idea of Vision growing his own cape because he likes Thor's. Thor's reaction will be priceless, although I wish Vision had also liked his hair.

Again, the form of the "is that all you've got" scene in the trailers is the one from the last battle, before Wanda claws his heart out and he just slips back into a simple robot for the last confrontation with Vision.

Ultron has a heart?

lol some joker on IMDB pretended they saw the movie. He was answering questions legitimately, ones he probably read from here or something for about 5 pages. Then he says Hulk kills black Widow, and it turned into a battle over there.
It was actually pretty funny

They tore him apart, from the inside.
