I'm not making snap judgments, I'm going off of what we saw in The Avengers. I just think that Iron Man wouldn't have any standing against the God of Thunder, but it was shown to be an almost equal fight.

Thor was nerfed in Avengers and, by the sounds of it, he will be in AoU too.
did you miss the headbutt vs headbutt and the crushing his armor with his bare hands part? if Cap didn't intervene what do you think would have happened?

also him taking a repulsor to the face and barely flinchinng? oh yeah..and thor basically destroys and entire city in AoU

True

Thor has shown better feats in his solo films than the first Avengers film and from what I heard so far,AOU

Easily killed Destroyer
Act like nothing happened seconds after the hard punching from Kurse
Malekith didnt do anything to Thor even with Aether

Thor destroys an entire freaking city in AOU what are you talking about?

So I haven't read much of this thread (avoiding most spoilers) but what is the general consensus of the movie?

Most from what I've read love the film. They say the action's non-stop too. I only recall ONE guy not liking it but he went in already tired of Superhero Films

You do realize there is fighting.......and then there is FIGHTING.

In AVENGERS, Thor was fighting Iron Man like an adult being attacked by an annoying 11 year old kid. He never really opened up on him and still managed to nonchalantly break his suit and not get hurt himself.

Exactly I don't see what's so hard to understand about that.

David Ketchum? Someone in reddit found out he's just a troll account, he never worked for Variety and he even stole some other journalist's photo .

just my opinion, but even in play fighting, there should have been no contest

look, I come from a place of really liking Thor. I just feel his use in the team-up movies has been somewhat neglected.

I can't wait to see him kick ass and destroy an entire city in AoU. hopefully it changes my opinion!

If you got attacked by a 12 year old would you

a) hold him off, counter him and overpower him without breaking anything
b) beat him to death

;)

ok, ok I get it lol

but I think to the casual fan, Thor holding back wouldn't be immediately obvious, especially since Tony is using all of his resources to fight Thor.

Thor went harder on the un-armored Captain America (he didn't know the shield was vibranium) than he did on Tony.

I thought Thor going that hard at Cap was stupid, still do actually. It made for a great effect but if Thor had been more skilled/faster he'd have murdered or severely injured a good man who hadn't done a whole lot wrong.

I guess that could be more true for a casual fan like you say and Iron Man's flight did seem to override Thor's flight when they clashed mid-air.

But yeah my 12 year old joke still stands. ;)

I think that would happen in the comics too. Thor's flight is directly tied to the hammer just moving him, which is why he can't fly without it. Thor just kinda went up into the air with his main target being Tony who beat him to the punch. With all the extra energy Stark is probably using all he's got from those thrusters and grabbing Thor pushing him back. Maybe the hammer could have overpower if it tried, but I would assume Thor's instinct isn't trying to escape via flying it's through getting the upper hand then flying, negating the pull of he hammer so he can hold on to it.

Yeah Thor's flight in the MCU especially is very limited Iron Man is more of a true flyer.

It makes sense that his flight overrides a guy with roughly 5 seconds if flight time in three films lol.

around 36 seconds into the clip we get a scene from that Ultron scene that was released.

The complaints about Ultron's voice being just Spader's unfiltered voice just got destroyed. The "I wanted to take this time to explain my evil plan" sounds pretty mechanical to me

I wonder how the Vision will sound. since JARVIS had no hint of robotics in his voice I doubt it'll be more robotic than Ultron.

I don't usually make my way down to this forum, but are people REALLY that defensive over Thor's powers as portrayed in these ensemble showings? All the power in the world doesn't change that he was massively short changed in the first Avengers film in favour of Stark/Hulk. It's like the BvS forum and how huffy people get when you claim that Superman can't be an almighty god that could end the world with a flick of a wrist in a movie, you kinda have to depower guys like that.
