All I'm saying is that Stark and Banner wrote a program Ultron, which didn't work because of lack of consciousness, so they tried to add the "program" from scepter...didn't work...so they left it alone....and suddenly it gained consciousness...which might be(somehow through the scepter) Thanos' work....
Not saying I am the only one who's right...maybe none of us is right in this...The only one who knows it all for sure..is Joss Whedon...and I hope MCU will once share the answer with us...

This is from Marvel.com...movie page....

"Ultron is born out of corrupted pilot program.."

"...simple computer program hidden among the ruins of the Chitauri invasion.."

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Has Huge Thursday Night Debut; Passes $300M

woo hoo

Yea I think we can all agree that Thanos had a hand in the creation of Ultron. Or he at least had some influence over him. Like I mentioned, the movie really implies that Thanos had a role with Ultron. And of course, Thor making the reference that someone is playing the Avengers like pawns. Thanos will probably have some influence in Thor Rangnork and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 leading into Infinity War.

Anyone else think the way Ultron was defeated was kinda weak and anticlimactic?

Thanos may be indirectly responsible just because his actions caused the mind stone to end up on Earth, but I don't think he influenced anything in Ultron's creation. Tony and Bruce didn't leave the program alone, Tony instructed Jarvis to continue running simulations till something worked. And then it did work, Ultron gained sentience and started taking over.

If anything Wanda is more responsible for Ultron, as she let Stark take the scepter because she saw his fear and knew that he'd use the scepter to do something drastic, possibly leading to The Avengers' destruction.

Yeah he has to be involved in those 2 at last a bit. Look forward to see developing into a serious threat. The first in the MCU! :woot::csad:

One question I have....

Did Thanos send an Ultron like virus that would eventually take form and evolve into a sentient being on earth? Not specifically Ultron, we just lucked out and that's how it entered our world, via Stark/Banner. He did give Loki the scepter knowing it would end up on earth...

Apparently not . . .

but I agree it should be obvious

Well, the mid credit scene where he says, "Alright, I'll do it myself" surely points to him having some hand in earth's "problems".

I think as a villain he was anti-climatic in general. I think the entire 'Age' of Ultron lasted not much more than a couple of days.

Comics, but still, the movies and comics are similar in basic ways. (it'd be VERY cool if Marvel's Hercules made it to the big screen)
I agree Thor can call lightning without Mjolnir. They have just been crappy at demonstrating that imo.

Why make Ultron if they already have an A.I. Called Jarvis???

They were all shocked that Stark made A.I. for first time....ummm Jarvis is an A.I.

Thanks. I know I can be as cynical with the best of them, but I had so much fun here. :yay:

I'm sorry you didn't get to see the SW trailer though on the big screen. Hoping its played before my viewing tomorrow.

Jarvis was indeed an AI, and there were examples in IM3 of Jarvis making decisions for Tony (flight plan to Nashville, the underwater glove rescue). They tried to highlight the differences between Jarvis and Ultron when they compared the visual representations of the two AI, Jarvis comparatively simple orange program vs. Ultron's larger and more complex program. Bruce even noted that it looked like Ultron's was thinking and fully aware.

TL;DR - Both are AI, but Ultron was way more advanced than Jarvis.

I forgot to mention, I was so annoyed in not seeing what Hawkeye's weird arrow looked like. When I saw it in the trailer, I couldn't wait to find out what it did, and then they didn't show what it actually did in the film. Such a tease. :funny:

I just saw AoU today in IMAX and it rocked. I loved the Ultron villain. Why? Because, to me, he was so complicated. I don't think he was even aware of his own emotions (much like us). No strings??? I don't think so. I think he was very, very jealous of human beings and was controlled by the very emotions he couldn't recognize. He made his minions in the image of humans (how did he do that anyway??) and, while he wouldn't/couldn't admit it, his underlying motivation was the destruction of the humans he hated and not to make a more perfect world; except in the sense that he needed control and to be god.

You're presuming the "Age" is over. :sly:
