I just don't like it when female superheroes get relegated to love interests, that's why im against wonder woman hooking up with anyone in the JL, I'm no feminist per se, but why does every female character need to be a hook up for someone?

They are the Avengers, friendship, mutual respect and all that....why complicate matters? Is the only way to get a female demographic by introducing romance to the proceedings, how archaic.

when I read that Joss said that AoU was part "woman's film" I was like, seriously?!
every MCU movie is a "woman's film" because men and women both enjoy them

Is the age difference between Johannson and Ruffalo the primary reason why some here are uncomfortable with the Widow/Banner pairing?

A lot of people are mad because either they don't want her with anyone at all or they want her with someone else - Barton or Barnes - and they're mad they won't get it. Certain segments of the internet have been arguing for literally years over which pairing "deserved" to go canon in the MCU and neither groups are getting what they want so they're not happy. Also women have been into these films for years and Whedon isn't dumb enough to think he needs a romance to attract them, it's much more likely he decided he just wanted them together so he put them together. I'm apprehensive but we'll see.

Don't get me wrong, I love romance in superhero films when it makes sense, and theres a story to be told, but from the trailers ive been seeing and just the concept of the film alone, it just looks like something thats tacked on.

Yeah I don't know what a "womans film" is either, they better not pull that crap when WW comes out.

I'm so sick of people threatening to boycot something for every little thing because it's not 100% exactly how they want it to be like.

And boycotting superhero movies in the MCU because of romance pairings not going their way is beyond stupid!

But on the other side, why a tough female has to be alone to be feminist? That isn't what feminism is about. Why people say that Black Widow is now Hulk's girlfriend like if that erased anything she has done or could possibly do and that is all what she is now? I'm a female and I don't generally like romance plots 'cause they're boring but I think people are jumping too fast with this. Personally I will wait until the release to see if it was worth the screentime or not.

That character was never identified as Amadeus onscreen though. The only place that called him that was the novelization. And given that the Iron Man 2 novelization claimed that Tony invented and named vibranium, I'm going to assume they aren't considered canon.

Plus that dude was clearly white.

Haven't posted here in forever, but just chiming in to say, for those confused, that a "woman's film" is a specific film genre... it doesn't just mean "feminist" or "it's got a love story in it."

It's kind of outdated these days, but the films of Cukor, Ophuls, and Sirk are considered to be the big ones in the genre. Joss Whedon's film prof at Wesleyan, Jeanine Basinger, defined the genre like this: "A woman’s film is a movie that places at the center of its universe a female who is trying to deal with emotional, social, and psychological problems that are specifically connected to the fact that she is a woman."

Yeah I'm not buying that dude was Amadeus Cho. Just like Ty Burrell was never named as Leonard Samson onscreen.

So yeah, not counting that garbage. Obviously, if they really wanted to, they could still introduce a younger teenage Amadeus, but it seems unlikely to happen considering they cast a younger woman in her late 20s as his "mother" or rather mother from the comics.

A man and a woman who work together fall in love. They neither fit nor unfit, they are not logical and they dont make sense. If you ask them, they wont know why they fell for each other. There are things they might like of each other, but that doesnt tell the whole tale. In fact, they are not even the kind of persona they actually thought would be theyre love. There is nothing more realistic, human and normal than that. It happens. Its life. The rest, is just you people bringing a lot of baggage and prejudice that is of your own making, and therefore, your problem, not Josses. And certainly, not life´s.

We all want things to happen, but its time to judge the film for what it wants to be, and not for what you want it to be, and certainly, not to reassure your own believes. Even, who knows, to challenge them. You might even enjoy it.
