The Winter Soldier Agent 13

There will be more of Agent 13 in the next film, these same writers needed just one film to show us Peggy/Steve and they did a great job with Nat/Steve friendship, so in one film they can make Sharon/Steve happen. I can´t judge the character or the acting, because I compare her introduction to the same that BW had in IM2... and in the comics isn´t Sharon supposed to be helping Cap find Bucky, alongside with Sam? of course in them she is still an SHIELD agent, but for the MCU, she is CIA, that will probably tie her with the guys to find Bucky and face whatever anything else they will have to face, while Steve and her flirt like they did in the hallway of their building :P

I'm certain she'll have a bigger part in Cap 3, and that is one of the many things that excite me about Cap 3.

But this is Cap 2, and as far as introductions go, it didn't really set up much aside from that Sharon exists and she works for the CIA.

Cap 3 won't have a whole lot to build on as far as Sharon goes, and will have to start from basically scratch, is what the problem is. Not specifically the size of it.

Just saw this again yesterday. While more Sharon would have been nice, it's not like the movie exactly wasted any time on other scenes that could have gone to her. There really just was not a lot of filler or fluff during the movie. The only way to expand her would have been to just make the movie longer, which I don't think was necessary.

It's pretty much set up that she will have a relationship with Steve in Cap 3. Not only did they introduce her character, but they also went out of there way to have Natasha tell Steve to pursue her TWICE. I think that was meant to set up something in the future as opposed to just being cheap pandering (see the "Robin" name drop in The Dark Knight Rises).

Imo the character of Sharon/Agent 13 shouldve replaced Black Widow.

They didn't go out of their way. In the first time, its a bit of banter. In the second, its an afterthought in a scene about Natasha and Steve completely.

Natasha also urges Steve to date two or three other random girls.

Natasha telling Steve to date is about Natasha, not Sharon.

They didn't have to do it at all. Her scenes could have been kept to the part at the apartment and the confrontation with Crossbones, but they mention her several times when she is off screen, reminding the audience of this minor character, basically saying "hey, care about this because it might come up later."

The rule is 'show, don't tell', and that they need to say, 'hey, care about this' just reflects how poorly she was written.

I just finished reading Captain America #1-14 by Brubaker, some of the comic issues from what the movie is based on and Black Widow seemed to take the role of Agent 13 in comics. The movie borrows element from the story comic, but they still were different. I am okay with this though since I loved the movie and this is a movie that is loosely based on the comics and the movie has their own universe.

I think she should have a better role, if not longer.

While it is understandable that the romantic relationship would be saved for another movie, they should have developed a bit more between her and Steve. To say nothing of giving Sharon a semblance of a personality.

As a result, Cap 3 will have to waste considerable time on fleshing out her character and developing Steve's relationship with her.

I just tend to see Cap 2 as a part one of two.
That said I'm not upset that Agent 13 was only touched upon in the same way that I'm not worried that we didn't get Crossbones.

You can't compare the two.

Brock and Sharon occupy different role in the mythos. One is set to be a somewhat minor villain, and the other to be a major ally. And allies, as they are on the side of the protagonist, would be more involved.

Not to mention, even if you were to assume that they're set to roles of equal magnitude, they didn't get nearly the same setup.

Crossbones may not have had a mask, or have a fight against Cap in the finale, but he had a a decently sized role, was shown to be a formidable opponent, at least to Sam, and was involved in the thick of things.

And honestly, the whole 'she's set up for Cap3' thing is bs. She could have had a decent role in this and also have a role in Cap3.

CATWS was a Captain America movie and Sharon works for the organization around which the movie revolves. If you aren't bothered that she only got 3.5 minutes of screentime, which is shorter that about half the tracks on the soundtrack, then chances are you don't care.

If you don't care, that's 100% fine. But repeating the platitudes that she'll have 7 minutes in Cap3 doesn't help people who do care.

Is Sharon Carter likely to have much of a role now in Cap 3? I don't see they'll even have time to develop her and Steve's relationship, not that there is much of one in the movies at the moment. I don't know if she would even really have the same kind of prominent role she did in the comic Civil War. She almost feels like she could be dropped and no-one would really notice, which is a shame really.

if i had to guess is that they'll just drop her. Which does suck.
Civil War they have to develop the whole Cap vs Iron Man thing and introduce Black Panther. In addition to that Emily VanCamp is the star of a tv show that probably shoots most of the year.

Well hopefully this will be the last season of Revenge. It doesn't feel like it can go any further without just dragging it out unnecessarily, and I think even EVC wants it to end and would've been happy for it to do so last season. So she could be free by next year when Cap 3 starts shooting, especially if she doesn't have a large part.

Out of curiosity I looked into this thread to read what people thought about Sharon's chances for Cap 3 back in 2014. Oh, boy, this thread, it's so sad. All these people thinking she would be the female lead, when even Wanda's got much more, than her... It's startling, how right BullMcGiveny turned out to be. One against so many. He must have been looking in a crystal ball. Especially this, I think, it's quite an accurate evaluation of her screentime in CW:

It is sad that Sharon wasn't the female lead in TWS & CW since these movies were supposedly Cap's franchise and that she was the main female lead in Cap's comics! Justice for Sharon!
