Good start to what should be a fantastic show. And kudos for bringing back Shepherd Book!

Let the speculation begin on what Coulson is, or who he is.....

....and you all thought it would be as simple as Fury using Coulson's death as a ploy to bring the Avengers together.

Yep, I just loved everything about this pilot!

Could Coulson be AI/LMD? Could that lead to an Age of Ultron tie in with season three?

I really liked the nods to the old school fans (flying car and Project Pegasus!)

I liked this for a pilot. I imagine as the series progresses and the writers get more comfortable in determining a direction/fleshing out characters, I'll like it even more. I'll pass on the Skye/Ward tease though.

Great seeing Coulson again. Agent Hill was a nice surprise, as I largely stayed in the dark on the show (and Cobie was looking especially good).

Anyone notice Coulson duck that flying door?

Seems a bit "Data" to me. Android. LMD.

My money is on that. :woot:

I had problems with the Skye character like some of you - such a cliche character type. Too much of a ham for me. Same with Ward, he had no personality whatsoever.

I loved the two British techies although there were some parts where I couldn't understand a word they said.

SHIELD was flying cars WAY before Marty and Doc Brown.

So was Lola's flight a nod to very distant comic book material, or was it a nod to Howard Stark and the "Anti-Gravitic Technology" from CA:TFA?

Plus, given the Agent Carter short on the IM3 Blu-Ray, and Coulson's affinity for "collectibles" is it possible that Lola was once Agent Carter's car?

Howard Stark's anti-gravitic tech itself was a nod to flying SHIELD cars.

Didn't like the dialogue, didn't like the attempts at humor, didn't like the quirky chick who joined Shield at the end, and didn't care much for the episode overall

on to episode 2 pls

I disagree. Both of these characters have been very misunderstood by people and it makes me sad.

Ward is supposed to subvert the trope of the James Bond wannabe by often making him the butt of the joke. He has no people skills whatsoever and his interactions are subtle, yet hilarious. He's an easy target, like Squidward.

Also, I don't see what's so cliche about Skye. Sure she's a snarky smartass, but that's the not the core of her character, it's just an aspect og her personality. Skye is interesting in that she's somewhat mysterious. She's not been fully revealed yet. Also, I'm just really drawn to her optimism and vision.

It felt like a Pilot waaaaay too much. Good start though, I just hope it isn't a ton of references to Avengers all the time. I'm sure it won't be, I'd like a huge mythology to come with this show.

Yeah, I really question if people REALLY pay attention to these characters or just react immediately off of what they see on the surface and don't think much further into it. Much like a lot of the plot of this episode in general. Don't see many people talking about how it related back to the common man and black people in general, or that brilliant shot toward the end of the ep with Mike falling in front of the historical black figures artwork. Meh, it's not a big deal, just disappointing.

A solid start. Sorta cornball but fun to watch. Lots of potential once it really kicks off; I hope the characters get more engaging though.

I tend to agree with others' sentiments about Sky being a cliche quirky character, but at the sametime, I didn't find her to be annoying either.

Overall, good pilot. Really intrigued to see where Coulson's storyline goes.

Oh gosh - I did notice when he was falling in front of that mural of African-American figures and couldn't help but roll my eyes. Really?

You don't need to use us with symbolism in everything jeez - just treat us like normal people! We're not all down an out, poor, single dad shmucks.

One concern I had in watching this pilot.

I had kinda hoped that the Mike character would instead be Luke Cage. So, it's not, and it leads me to worry that we're gonna end up with a bunch of "Mike" knock-offs, average people that stumble into some superpowers, rather than investigating the emergence of the Marvel Universe.

Will all our "heroes" be nobodys we don't care about, or will we get to see some familiar names and faces, even if they aren't A-List Marvel Heroes?

Hoping for a tad bit more Luke Cage, and a tad less Mike the Factory Guy.

It would have been a waste to use Luke in this episode. It makes total sense now why they used a completely new character.

They will probably use random dudes for your "monster of the week" stories, and then possibly named characters to progress bigger storylines.

I would think if they plan on having Luke Cage appear, he would be played by a more known actor than J. August Richards so that they can put him in the movies if they wanted to.

Franklin Hall is going to be in episode three. He would become Graviton in the comics.

I hate to be the baron of bad news, but that's the typical Jossverse humor.

I agree, I can understand why a new character was used, and I thought the Extremis tie was a nice nod.

I guess Im just used to pilot episodes of "known" material, pulling all the stops to get people hooked in. Kinda expected a semi-big or big name super to be thrown our way.

Kinda like Captain Picard's appearance on the pilot of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine or Quark's appearance on the pilot of Voyager, along with the station DS9. It was a bit of added star power to boost the pilot along, and I guess it's more along the lines of what I was expecting.

Not disappointed, just surprised and maybe a tad letdown on that single point.

I DEFINITELY wish that these random weekly heroes and villains were comic book characters. There is a practically endless number of options to choose from, trow us a bone. I'm not saying that they all have to end up in movies...but maybe they can be brought in for a season finale big battle.

1. They hardly used symbolism in "everything", that was really the only instance of it

2. If you're not struggling good for you, but a lot of us are. And I applaud them for not being scared to address it and not beating the bush or ignoring the issue by just treating the black character like any old guy.

I liked the pilot and thought the characters outside of Coulson and Ming-Na's character(they were awesome) were okay. Didn't care for Agent Ward.

I got no problem with Chloe Bennet as Skye at all. She can just stand there and look gorgeous all episode long, and she's got me hooked.
