“Coulson and his team are still reeling from a shocking revelation that leaves the team fractured as they must decide what to do with one of their own. Meanwhile, Bobbi and Mack reveal their true allegiance to Hunter, while elsewhere, Ward and Agent 33 embark on a personal mission.”
Written by Brent Fletcher and directed by Jesse Bochco, “Love in the Time of Hydra” is set to air on March 24. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” airs Tuesdays at 9 P.M. EST. on ABC.

OK...i get it... Bobbie & Mac are working for another sector of SHIELD?? This is stupid......
Unless Stark is in charge of it......
I mean i understand....people think Fury is dead.....
Coulson is a ghost to some people......
But i dont see this being a good thing....if anything there will be a changing of the guard as far as the current roster of the current group

I love the idea and concept of a second SHIELD. It's logical not to trust Fury's hand picked successor since the old SHIELD was so F'ed up. More accountability seems like a reason to form a mirror, better organization. This is exactly what would happen in real life. What has always made Marvel great in the past was shades of gray and a turn like this is a wonderful example.

I don't understand why a spy agency having a power struggle after a major shake-up is stupid unless a particular rich guy is involved.

And how would it be any less stupid of Stark was in charge of it?

Stark would sooner open a go-go bar than lead S.H.I.E.L.D.

It actually makes sense for me. Fury wouldn't let his organization die so easily. He would plan for SHIELD to survive by multiple means.

Shield is having its own mini Civil War between two different factions.

I don't think Fury even knows about the other S.H.I.E.L.D. If he knew he would order them to join Coulson's S.H.I.E.L.D.

I am not certain that is true
that would really depend on who these guys are and what Fury thinks of them. For all we know those remnants represent an Anti-Coulson faction so I would guess they are not on the "Nick Fury - Fan Club"
And then giving orders becomes a little bit problematic.

What's so stupid about shield having splinter groups after its fall? Makes perfect sense.

So what are the differences between the two S.H.I.E.L.D.s?

Good question. I don't have a real answer just thinking out loud here:

My guess is the other faction is more extreme. I could see Jemma landing on their side.
They really dislike the fact that coulson is in posession of the intel provided by Fury. Maybe that is because they dilike the idea that he was or maybe still is under the influence of something "alien" (if they got wind of that) maybe they simply have some sort of authority distrust because of the former Hydra infection. The promo suggests some sort of committee ? Is Edward James Olmos in command of the faction?

At the moment we don't have much to go on...

Could Olmos's character be a outstanding World Security Council member? Surely there's more of them other than the ones we've seen so far.

And also since he was a dead half alien.

WHat if one becomes "SHIELD" and the folks we know as SHIELD (Coulson, etc.) become SWORD because of a focus on the Inhumans?

Possibly. He could be a World Security Council member?

Because the WSC did such a brilliant job of overseeing SHIELD the first time around.

-One of their members turned out to be the mastermind behind HYDRA's plot.
-The others were completely duped until Cap spelled it out for them, and then they died.

So Bobbi/Mack, you're probably better off taking your chances with Coulson than yet more "mysterious suited people who sit in poorly-lit rooms."

"He is a SHIELD agent that Coulson was familiar with from their shared past," Gregg said, according to Most News. "He was definitely in a different part of SHIELD when the HYDRA insurrection happened, and they come together and discover what they've both been doing since. More than that, I cannot say."

Just imagine Nick Fury starting up his own version of Shield, hoping the other two would disband, but it backfires. You now have three shields. All three groups start recruiting Inhumans, then there's a 3 way war. Coulson v James Olmos v Nick Fury. Then, Hydra comes back, and what then?

The three SHIELDs stop bickering and join forces to kick some Hydra ass.

I could actually see Fury's twisted mind deliberately setting up the second SHIELD and not telling Coulson. Each would have different purposes (compartmentalization), and wouldn't have a "need-to-know" about the existence of the other until they "accidentally" cross paths.

It would lend each group plausible deniability of the others actions, or something. Fury would know that Coulson would have the ability to put on a good face for the rest of the world, and present a better image of a cleaner SHIELD, with heart -- which needed to happen after HYDRA. But given Coulson's reaction to the Guest House program, Fury would also know that he might be incapable of doing some of the shadier secretive things that SHIELD allegedly needs to do. So he set up a secondary backup shadow organization.

Not that I absolutely think that's what happened, but it wouldn't surprise me.

"Even his secrets have secrets."

EDIT: While it could conceivably be Stark behind "realSHIELD", the reason I very much question this is because it's completely antithetical to Stark's character. He's disgusted by people keeping secrets. He's a terrible liar. It's a running joke in the MCU that his own security system isn't even that good ("security breach, that's on you!"). This is the man who gave out his address on public TV to terrorists, and plastered his name to the side of a tower. Meanwhile, "realSHIELD" is so secretive and shadowy, it makes Coulson look like the Freedom of Information Act.
