Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of SHIELD - S02E14 - "Love in the Time of Hydra"

Then why does the WSC get a say in what SHIELD does instead of strictly a group within the U.S. government? The US utilized and worked with SHIELD, using intelligence SHIELD provided/shared for US national security and interests, yes, but I think that and the general's words can still apply to an international organization. He's just talking about how the fall of SHIELD affects the US directly.

Just my take on it (and sorry if it didn't make sense).
You make perfect sense. That's the way I see it.

G'day,

Personally I think they started of as having SHIELD as an American organisation ( It only came out a few years after 9/11 thats why Homeland was in the name) then decided to retcon it to the WSC.

Wow Simmons, you did not just call Skye the Hulk. That's a low blow.

Really curious how they're going to split the team and then bring it back together. Clearly Mac/Hunter/Bobbi aren't all coming back. Mac's likely to get the chop I'd say

It's a good comparison. They both have trouble with controlling their powers. Negative emotions trigger their powers.

Interesting Fitz mentioned Captain America. In the comics, Cap wouldn't let Quake join the Avengers. :)

But he did let her join later during the "Heroic Age" arc

I have a feeling Fitz will develop the gauntlets to help Skye control her powers

I've actually been waiting for someone to bring up the Hulk and Bruce Banner as a comparison to Skye's current situation. Glad that they finally brought it up.

Though wow, I can't believe that Simmons is really turning into a power-phobic person. I'm glad that Fitz at least has the right perspective on this.

I think Skye's dad has more in common with Banner...since they're both science experiments who effectively "Hulk out" due to anger management issues.

of course Skye's would receive a comment like that.

G'day,

Can't trust those goody two shoes types. They want everyone to be like them . Flaming control freaks. Simmons showed her character when she abandoned Fitz. I expect her to join the "real SHIELD" were she can happily build gas chambers for the gifted.

Skye actually shoot to dead a mind controled gifted, Donnie Gil. (But I don't think he is dead though )
Coulson and the shield are using a Index to make a registration for all the gifted.
Simmons don't want to kill Skye, she is (too) carefull because her powers are dangerous.

The Donnie Gill thing reminds me that they've done a really good job laying groundwork this season. The idea of Skye monitoring her pulse and heart rate started way back then, but now is central to her character. It helps the audience accept it when she starts controlling her powers.

Just imagine Nick Fury starting up his own version of Shield, hoping the other two would disband, but it backfires. You now have three shields. All three groups start recruiting Inhumans, then there's a 3 way war. Coulson v James Olmos v Nick Fury. Then, Hydra comes back, and what then?

Maybe Maria Hill will come along and start up her own version of SHIELD too, so that there are now four SHIELDs. :p

I think this is absolutely the correct interpretation. The one WSC council member was clearly Indian. (Alexander Pierce: "Let me ask you a question. What if Pakistan marched into Mumbai tomorrow, and you knew they were going to drag your daughter into a soccer stadium for execution, and you could stop it with a flick of a switch... wouldn't you?" / Councilman Singh: "Not if it's your switch.") And one was Chinese IIRC. And wasn't the Jenny Agutter character Brit?

The US government obviously gets a big say... just like it does in the UN, but SHIELD itself was an international body, answerable to representatives from various different countries.

The way SHIELD has been portrayed, though, I think it would be reasonable to assume that the majority of the funding and supervision comes from the US, with the majority of the bases/workforce located in the US and majority of the operations executed on US soil. While SHIELD might not have been directly answerable to the US govt. I'm sure they absolutely had to "play nice" with US govt. Which would obviously involve some level of intelligence sharing with US organizations like the CIA, etc.

Then we learn that Hill's SHIELD is the one that's backed by Tony Stark. Not Coulson SHIELD, Olmos SHIELD, or Fury SHIELD.

Damn
I was enjoying the Ward break we've been given so far in s2.5
good things never last I suppose

oh and I called Fitz making the gauntlets a couple weeks back, as is becoming more obvious
there should be a pat-yourself-on-the-back emoticon :hehe:

Yea, it's a pretty obvious Pulp Fiction homage. If this thread devolves into a lengthy, pedantic "homage" vs. "rip-off" debate, I'd literally get so m... :cmad:

Um, count me in. :)
