Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of SHIELD TV series for ABC - General Discussion - LEVEL 10

Do you guys think that it's been intentional, somewhat, that the show never really seems to bring up the "Avengers" as being a potential response to all of the craziness that's going on within the series as of late or if it's just something that's never come across their minds?

I mean I just think that it's kind of weird on how none of the governments or agents ever bring up on how they can at least rely on the Avengers to take on these new threats should it become too big for them all to handle.

The Avengers haven't reassembled yet. I wouldn't count on a team that we've only seen once. (especially when they think Hulk could still be a threat.)

Plus they were getting heavily criticized for too many Avengers references.

Insight was targeting whoever the people in charge wanted to target. The people in charge were Hydra. That's the problem. Cap's point is that we can't put THAT much power into the hands of the powerful.

THIS right here, this is what Cap had a problem with. Fury was going along with a plan that was essentially from Peirce and he had no idea what it's true implications were. But Cap was right, SHIELD can't be a preemptive strike force

I am curious to find out as to what the world thinks about the Avengers, within the MCU, in the sense of whether people still see the heroes involved as a group, or whether people just saw it as being a one time thing.

And honestly, I don't think references like this would hurt... it would actually make sense.

When the show is dealing with threats that can have global implications, it would make sense that the Avengers would be referenced as a potential solution.

Heck, if Robert Downey Jr. was willing to appear on the show for a small cameo, then I'd wager that Tony Stark could also become Coulson's new benefactor and Stark' private unit in tackling the problems that Coulson and his group were normally assigned prior towards SHIELD's downfall.

Hey nobody knows what will happen next week. They are going to need a way to fuel the bus and such

Great episode tonight.

"Get ready for a large, file transfer."

"When?"

*crash*

LOLs. Brilliant.

That was great! it was surprising that Cybertek with all their advanced resources was keeping everything in print and paper

Great responses from everyone that replied to my post.

On another note, do you guys think that it's been intentional, somewhat, that the show never really seems to bring up the "Avengers" as being a potential response to all of the craziness that's going on within the series as of late or if it's just something that's never come across their minds?

The last official Cap reference made was about them not knowing if he survived or not... Stark is in post IM3 non iron man mode. Thor is un-contactable. Banner is likely off grid as usual. Fury is supposedly dead. Natasha is being grilled by congress, and who knows where Hawkeye is... its not like they have a button to push or something

The primary difference, SHIELD would target terrorists, extremists and folks we'd generally labor as "bad guys", HYDRA was targeting people who were threats to HYDRA

Terrorists to Hydra

Terrorist to SHIELD

So I guess the TAHITI storyline is over, since Coulson made no more reference to it after last week's revelation?

I think it might be brought up/talked about again what with Fury showing up in next week's episode.

Loved the Abigail Brand nod.

Strongly doubt the reference was to Abigail Brand.
There were files for "Brand Corporation" and "Metrobank," and yes, those are comicbook easter eggs. But those two units are subsidiaries of Roxxon Oil, just like Cybertek, and made appearances in Cap and Avenger comics. All this is probably lead-up to Roxxon becoming a big bad for next season.

I'm going to post this here in case if anyone missed it...

Not sure if I brought up this question, and if I had then my apologies, but after everything that we've seen so far from the fallout of "TWS", do you guys still think that Captain America taking down SHIELD was a good idea in the long run or that he should have listened to Fury and salvage what they could of it?

I think it's great the way the movies and the show are approaching the future of SHIELD. I believe Coulson should be the one to rebuild SHIELD from the ground up in Season 2 to make a "kinder, gentler" agency, led by someone we can actually trust (see my avatar); while Cap will take an entirely different approach to global security, by creating (with Tony) the supergroup we know and love.

The Age of Fury is over. It's time to Keep Calm and Trust Coulson. And let the Age of the Avengers begin. :word:

I keep forgetting that Cybertek is an offshoot of Roxxon in the books.

Tell that to the government now about drone strikes and targeted assassinations. See how well that goes for you. Because Insight is just a bigger version of that.

Since we know the alien go juice formula drove subjects crazy (unless they had their memory wiped or are Skye) shouldn't Garrett maybe have a complete meltdown in the finale?

And that's assuming what Raina give him was the same stuff. She seemed rather shifty about all that.

Oh you know that the whole meltdown thing will come into play next week. :woot:

Yeah...and that was the message behind the movie. It was commentary on our actual policies.

Man I still wish next week was a 2 hour finale. An hour flies by so fast and I want as much as I can get! I bet next week is going to blow our collective minds

44 more minutes and then no more for months. :(

But the hype for Guardians of the Galaxy as well as casting for Ant Man, Daredevil and the announcement of Phase 3 movies will fill the void.
