It sounds like to me as though Ms. Bennett is sticking up for her producers, writers and fellow cast members. And Chloe is twenty frickin' four years old. It's probably a wee bit early to call her a has been.

And I know somewhere between jack and squat about acting, but I thought she was pretty darn good last evening.

So the Finale was pretty decent...

anyone think the inclusion of LMD's now will possibly bring us Jocasta? I can't think of another female robot they could use...

She is not good...but she is the star of the show...and the show is part of the Marvel brand.
People sampled the show early on but Agents of Sheild never took off and Marvel knew that so they largely ignored it. It wasn't a buzzed about low rated program, it didn't tap into anything. Agents of Shield just became a marketing tool for Marvel's movies. I know the show has it's fans but that's just the truth. Things just didn't work out as well as Bennett wanted them to, that's life. She still scored a big gig on a television show so it's not like she is a failure.

The only reason the show is getting another season is because of that sweet, sweet syndication money.

No, I don't think she was sticking up for her co-workers. If I had to guess, and this is just my own suspicions. But ever since AoS started I thought that somebody at Marvel must really like Chloe Bennet. Really, really like her. She was the worst among the main cast and her acting skills never improved. Her character was despised, but they never downplayed her... quite the opposite, in fact.

Now with the Feige-Perlmutter split, and with Feige knocking down that "Inhumans" movie, a movie that Perlmutter was pushing before the big split... I believe that Perlmutter was the person at Marvel that really, really liked Chloe Bennet and probably promised to make her a movie star. She probably hoped AoS would run five to seven seasons, just in time to begin production on the "Inhumans" movie and BOOM... she's a movie star.

Ever since "Age of Ultron" came out, it's been the worst kept secret in Hollywood that Marvel Studios doesn't care for the TV division at Marvel Entertainment. Whedon slammed AoS. The Russos recently slammed it. Feige doesn't care for it. Hell the Avengers cast cringed on Jimmy Kimmel when they were asked if they'd guest star, and Chris Evans shouted the most insincere "SURE" ever heard.

The split between the divisions is very real. And it's pretty much a known fact that Perlmutter is a butt hole.

When Marvel decided to debut the Doctor Strange trailer on a Tuesday night...they chose to air it on Jimmy Kimmel rather than on Agents of SHIELD...so they aren't even really using it for brand promotion.

Whether the show "trends" organically or not...whether the show is good or not...Marvel has left the show to die on the vine. As a Marvel fan, that is kind of a shame.

You are correct, the show has gotten so low rated and irrelevant that Marvel isn't even using it to market their films anymore. They left it to die on the vine because it's a failure.

I doubt very much Ike Perlmutter has ever met Chloe Bennett let alone promised to make her a star. From all accounts he is a recluse who doesn't interact with more than a few people. He ain't hanging out on TV sets chatting up ingenues.

And I also doubt that Chloe and company were ever a consideration for the Inhumans film. This earth bound group is completely separate from the Royal Family that eventually (may) show up in the MCU films.

The split it real, but it only is a problem with a real-time series that travels in the same "Let's Save the World" circles as the folks in the movies. Having the Netflix Defenders shows independent of the film series was a great benefit for DD and JJ.

Yet no one seems to be doing much to turn that around.

Looking back at that one tiny bit of "Secret Warriors" hype that never seemed to go anywhere, it's almost laughable that they even considered trying to convince people that this past season was about the Secret Warriors. By the time there even was a team (half made up of non-comics characters), they were already under the umbrella of the United States government...so...not really secret. There isn't any real attempt to keep the ship afloat.

Actually, I think Chloe Bennet HAS improved. Greatly, even. Which isn't to say that she's award worthy or top quality, I just mean that since the first started Bennet has definitely made some marked improvements.

I could also argue that neither Whedon's comment or the Russos' ignorance are exactly slamming the shows. If Whedon has said that for all intents and purposes he's pretending that The Avengers were the world's only superheroes or if the Russos thought a fan was just joking when asked if a "purple man" would be brought up as a way to brainwash Bucky would you assume they were dissing the Netflix shows? More than likely I think if it was a widely loved property everyone would understand that the directors haven't seen every Marvel property ever, and that Whedon was simply talking about the way he approaches the film as though a number of viewers would have only seen the last Avengers.

Everyone knows that the actors and host do prep before these interviews, right? The show let's them know a head of time what topics will be brought up. It's not like Gregg's question truly caught these guys unaware and what we saw was their honest, of the top of their heads reaction. I'm not saying the moment wasn't awkward, but it's pretty obvious they were trying to play it as awkward.

There is a definite split between the two divisions and a whole bunch of reasons I think we're unlikely to see much interaction between the two. But at this point it's like people need to blame someone for it and come up with a whole bunch of reasons painting the film side as unreasonable or AoS as such a disaster that no one wants to get near it. Ignoring the fact that the film side has a whole lot on their plates and I seriously doubt that every film person has sat down and watched AoS and determined it sucked. More than likely most of them barely know about it's existence, but not because it's some terrible piece of garbage. They likely barely know about the Netflix shows, too, or Agent Carter or anything not directly related to whatever project they are working on.

Chloe has came on leaps and bounds as an actress IMO and Perlmutter has no interest in actresses.

Wow... A few grumpy guts in here today...

Hard not to be grumpy when something you want to care about is so poorly handled/executed.

I care, it was a good idea to take the same biker gang.

Shouldn't have said no one cares, I meant that it is a meaningless nod/easter egg. I rather a cohesive universe instead of winks.

I mean it was a great idea, but just look at how embarrassingly cartoonish the Dogs of Hell were in AoS compared to the more realistic take in Daredevil.

Ya know, that's a good point I hadn't really thought about

If this show focused more on the small threats and situations that a team like Coulson's would acutally deal with, it would probably not be such the issue that it is.

It's only because SHIELD is dealing with these Avengers level-threats that it seems strange when they don't show up
On the Netflix shows, it never feels weird (we just want crossovers because we want to see DD or Jess standing next to Cap, not because the story would seem to indicate the Avengers should get involved)

i honestly never felt like HIVE was a world wide threat until the end... but it was quick so i didn't expect the avengers to show up. Hive smelt smaller and more personal through-out the season.

the only thing wide scale is the Inhuman outbreak.. which really should be addressed or explained

The series was set up perfectly at the end of season 1 to be a small, rag-tag group of rogue agents fighting the good fight from the shadows. It was definitely a lost opportunity when they came back in the fall with a well furnished base and a rather extensive support staff. The show never explained how any of it was financed.

I was thinking that today.
This way, they get to. 88 episodes.

Exactly. She's upset that Marvel Studios has no interest in making her a movie star.

I'm thankful for that seeing she's a poor to occasionally mediocre actress. If any TV Marvel characters are going to make it to the movies, it should be Daredevil.

Chloe Bennet's recent comments reveal someone who was killing time until she got a promotion to the movies... a promotion she probably thought was coming with the Inhumans movie, and now she's bitter because she realizes it's not.

Yeah I just heard her comments...

Bennet, from what Ive seen of AoS, she seems to be having fun and she's a very attractive girl...

But she needs to take several seats

guessing its a media gimmick. Create a controversy have a ready made solution. more tie in next year.

She's from Chi-town, got that combative spirit I guess.
