Hey if we can have Deathlok why not Wonderman?

But played by Brett Dalton? No way. I like Agent Ward, but he should be Agent Ward. Not Wonderman. I'd rather see someone else play Wonderman.

Wonderman has also been an Avenger. Deathlok hasn't.

And it looks like Deathlok's arrival could mean them scrapping the planned character of "African-American agent who specializes in combat/weapons" but we'll see after tomorrow's episode. They also mentioned " a high-level S.H.I.E.L.D. agent/munitions expert who has past ties to both Coulson and Ward" but I think that will be John Garrett. We'll see later this week when the plot for Episode 14 (when both are supposed to debut) is released.

If the agent is not scrapped, I'd like for him to be GW Bridge.

Yeam I'm pretty sure the munitions expert is going to be Garrett.. although Bridge would certainly fit that description and it would be great to have him on the show

I'm thinking that we won't see the African American agent, but that's just a guest right now. We will know for sure when the plot for the next episode is released later this week.

The African American agent could also be a made up character like the rest of the team, but with the introductions of John Garrett, Deathlok and Lorelei as well as an appearance from Sif, if he is still going to be introduced, it could be a comic book character.

Having said that, I think Deathlok replaces him.

Thank you.
None of the main cast should be anything more than what they are being developed to be.
Let them somehow become their own interesting characters and avoid them ruining characters that have great potential.

A site called Lainey Gossip has a review of CATWS, which one of the contributors has seen. Presumably it was a rough cut, like the one Vartha saw last week. The review contains some MCU spoilers, but there was one for AOS tucked away in there. It's fairly vague but very encouraging. Ignore the insult and pay attention to what she said:

So yeah, Captain America 2 is pretty great. And there’s a big reveal that general audiences won’t see coming (and ought to open some doors to fix that awful SHIELD show).

There's no way of knowing what the reveal is just yet but I'm hopeful that there is something in the film that will tie Agents of SHIELD securely to the events in the MCU's SHIELD. Perhaps the last show(s) of the season will use CATWS as a spingboard for new developments. Read the entire review at your peril if you want to avoid spoilers for CATWS and Age of Ultron.

Apparently whatever happens is pretty extreme if it opens doors that can "fix" SHIELD. Perhaps there's some sort of cliffhanger that DIRECTLY sets up season 2, which would be an awesome incentive to watch for new/fickle/hesitant/uninterested viewers.

You know, I think the biggest problem with this show IS it's link to the MCU. They can't bring in any canon characters except the absolute lowest rank ones, in case they are needed for future movies. Obviously the films come first but the show is clearly limited (and the writers have said as much) since they have to follow the tone of the established world. They can't go adding superheroes left and right since the MCU has been established to still be new to super humans... But to cover for that, the show is just running off the idea of genetic super humans. As a TV show that runs alongside the movies, it's such wasted potential to expand the fiction! I mean, they could still be TALKING about Stark, Captain America, Hulk etc with more than throwaway lines. Why not expand on backstories, flesh out worlds. Show off Stark logos.... The problem is most of the time, the show doesn't even feel connected to the MCU. Coulson doesn't even feel like the Coulson from the films half the time.

I really wish they'd gone for more of an Iron Man 1 tone. The agents all wore suits, they drove in unmarked jeeps. Something super heroic was regarded as AMAZING, not just the average day. This show is a bit too 'Men in Black'.

I also think part of this problem is The Bus. It makes for way too convenient an excuse for the procedural junk we've been seeing. I hate how everyone compares this to Firefly but... to COMPARE this to Firefly, that was an episodic series that didn't feel like it, if that makes sense. Each episode was so full and deep that some of them felt like mini movies. Hell, I still get blown away when I realise that series only had a handful of episodes.

I'd love to see that pacing come with Agents of SHIELD. I'd be happy with less 'Baddy of the day' stuff and have more character development. They should take their time. Let some of these characters chew the scenery a bit more, let them grow beyond throw away lines and sarcastic quips. Bring them together with the MCU and let the fans see a fully realised, expanded version of the MCU.

Just my two cents, I'm sure this has all been said before but I've been thinking it for a while now.

This... is pretty accurate, actually. I haven't thought of it that way but now that you mention it it feels spot on.

A big problem is that this feels like S.H.I.E.L.D.'s D-team. After seeing them being a very competent and top-tier spy organization, we are following a rookie team without a ton of charisma or sense of gravitas. My biggest disappointment is that I was expecting a Mission: Impossible level of competence and skill, and instead it's more like Agent Cody Banks.

This hasn't been brought up and it annoys me to the core: the use of background score in every single scene of the show is horrendous. Watch almost any scene of the show, for some reason they've decided on an aesthetic that requires a constant score which underlines in big, black, sharpie what the emotion of the scene is. If you watch almost any high quality drama on television right now, they let the words and actors do the work for them, and they allow the scene to go on in silenece, with music only punctuating instead of overwhelming. It adds to the cheap and empty feeling of the show.

Stop speaking my thoughts! lol

Pretty much nailed it for me. The score is indeed terrible, and undercuts drama time and time again. As for the show on the whole, I know the show doesn't have the budget for big, big things but I still don't think it excuses it coming off as amateurish.

Honestly I think it comes down to a few things but most important for me is the characters. I still don't like them, don't buy them. Some bland writing for sure, but sadly I put a lot of the blame on the cast. Clark Gregg is fine, but the rest? Ehhh

I don't have an opinion on the score, but the cast/characters is one of the things that people tune in for. Contrary to your opinion on them, there's a huge group of fans that adore these people. I actually think it may be possible that people's love for Fitzsimmons has surpassed that of Agent Coulson.

I'd be fine with that, but instead of a "top level" we are getting a bottom level of bland spies.
Actually, no. We're getting a good mix. Three of the agents are very much top level, and there is no denying that. The other two are mid-level and are scientists/mechanics anyway. Skye is the only one that is anything close to bottom level, but that's fine because that's the point of her character. We get to witness a future agent train her way up.

I can totally get that. That would have been so cool to see that. I guess for me one thing that I think is way cooler, and I really hope the show runners are going for this, is to see this team grow to become a Mission: Impossible type kind of thing. I want to experience that journey with them. Only time and patience is going to see if this happens and I realize some people may hot have that kind of time or even the desire to see this thing through. Personally, I love this show but it's going to be up to the writers and cast to keep people entertained enough to want to invest that kind of time into seeing this show develop into something special. They're not there yet but this show has a lot of potential if the show runners can tap into it.

LOW AND BEHOLD!
Deathlok was a completely underwhelming piece of ****.
Thanks Marvel, you incompetent ****s.

Nothing says Deathlok like a cyber peg leg, some burns and a sweater.

Nothing says Iron Man like a rusty, fat, ugly, silver suit that was built in a cave... Oh wait that was just the beginning stages of Iron Man. :whatever:

..... You really expected full on comic deathlok in his first episode? This is his origin story.... Be patient

Actually that was about as comic accurate an origin suit as anyone could ever hope for of the classic Iron Man suit, and Deathlok was never conceived of as a build as you go construct.

Never expected a full on comic Deathlok but a metal peg leg and a concealed eye implant sure as hell is less than I expected. Why drag it out when the ratings were suffering? Mind you the episode was great, but why not leave the audience something exciting to talk about for a month?

Once again, my reaction to this welfare Deathlok.

Contrary to people complaining... The ratings are fine and not in any danger

What's up with the breaks? Weeks of reruns, then new episode, then break. Then it repeats again.

I believe the Olympics are starting. I could be wrong

That wasn't the point, the point is that iron man with that ugly gray POS suit didn't change the fact that we eventually got the Iron Man we were waiting for. This is Deathlok's introduction, be patient.

Not much choice with the breaks we are subject to.
It just seems all backwards that an individual cybernetic leg is somehow "Deathlok 5.01" as if Deathlok is nothing more than advanced legs prosthetics.

It would have been better if this theorized completed Deathlok would have been christened Deathlok after he was whole.

Anyways I'm done with this show until the season ends, so my lamentations will end, I'm obviously incapable of dealing with this pacing.
