Thank you!!!

people underestimate a little thing called EMAIL joss can be anywhere in the world and still read an episodes script

You are always so snippy. I don't understand you.

If you honestly think that Joss Whedon is doing the heavy lifting on that show while AoU is filming, go right ahead.

I think people underestimate how much work is involved with a movie the size of AOU, casting, costume tests, refining the storyboards, I doubt very much Joss has much to do with AOS at this point.

I remember hearing he did offer input on the 1st batch of scripts after the pilot but that is all. Jed and Maurissa seemed to have been the ones to come up with characters and are running the show day to day.

Well that's why you don't understand.... I never once said he was "doing the heavy lifting" nor is he doing most of the work. He created the show, approves the scripts and syncs it into the direction he wants it to go.

He didn't write all the buffy, angel, serenity, or dollhouse scripts nor did he direct all of the episodes either. Yet like this show, he too was the "grand puppet-master" if you will.

Most show creators essentially have an outline of a season with a few key plot points and the occasional episodes they wrote or directed themselves. They then pass off the remainder to a trusted creative staff to do the rest. Jed Whedon is that trusted staff . He's the "boss" to most.... But its Joss ultimately who's his boss and who he answers to. Its still very much a "joss whedon" show

There us quite alot of work indeed. But i guarantee you hes not been spending the last 5 months as well as next year eating, breathing, and thinking avengers age of ultron 24/7 7 days a week..... Joss isn't new to the game. He's probably just overviewing AOS scripts when sent. Stamps his approval and pops up on set when he can. and thinking/brainstorming other non avenger scripts and concepts while he can as well. (like he did with much ado about nothing)

We still have two full weeks until the next episode. This is depressing.

I hate that.
hope so much that this is the true last break until season finale...

Oh there'll be another break or two. There are always one or two breaks in March and April.

WHY on earth is there 2 MORE weeks till this show comes back??

And I don't wanna hear the Olympics excuse again, it's on a different network, that's bull

And if there IS another break or two in March or April, I will 100% drop the hell outta this show
No amount of Deathloks or Spider-Women can keep me invested with this many breaks
Marvel, Stop it.

No it's not. The Olympics are pulling in 20 million+ a night.

Marvel, Stop it.

You should just drop the show now. But seriously do you even watch regular network shows? It's like this for most shows that have 22 episodes a season.

It's not all Marvel. It's also ABC.

I dropped the show after 5 episodes. It sucked

again, it's on a different network though
SHIELD is ABC, Olympics are NBC
And tbh, I'm really surprised that many people are watching that s**t-show of an Olympics, nobody I know has watched any of it (except youtube clips maybe)
I'm sure most nerds would much rather watch SHIELD, I certainly would

Yes I do, and none of them seem this plagued with multi-week breaks, except during the Baseball playoffs where FOX gets all f***** up

between this and Once Upon a Time, I'm thinking Dr Evil's right and it's mainly ABC
I remember hearing about BBC's issue with showing SHIELD because of the odd breaks, so they were delaying bringing the season back.

so it's not just in my head, and I'm not the only one noticing this
don't get snippy with me, new guy

The fact is ABC were idiots on how they scheduled AoS. It should have premiered two weeks later than it did.

Here is a comparison between the breaks of AoS and Arrow.

AoS
1 Week
1 Week
3 Weeks
2 Weeks
3 Weeks

Arrow
1 Week
4 Weeks
2 Weeks

Which is all because Arrow debuted 2 weeks later than AoS did.

Just for arguments sake say ABC would have premiered it on Oct 8th

Oct 8th- Ep 1
Oct 15th- Ep 2
Oct 22nd- Ep 3
Oct 29th- Ep 4
Nov 5th- Ep 5
Nov 12th- Ep 6
Nov 19th- Ep 7
Nov 26th- Ep 8
Dec 3rd- Ep 9
Dec 10th- Ep 10
-5 Weeks Off-
Jan 21st- Ep 11
Jan 28th- Ep 12
Feb 4th- Ep 13
-3 Weeks Off-

There would be a lot less complaining about how many breaks there have been.

True, it is on a different network. It's also true that - at least from the shows that I follow - some of the shows that have decided to go ahead and risk new episodes during the Olympics have suffered quite a drop in ratings compared to their 'non-Olympic competing' episodes.

Personally, I think ABC made the right decision to hold off on new episodes while the Olympics are on rather than risk further drops in the ratings. We have 9 episodes left and with the season finale probably falling some-point during May sweeps, we may in fact end up with 1 or 2 more rerun/no new episode weeks (if my math is right - and depending where in May they want the finale to fall) - such is life when there are sweeps months as well as when (in AoS's case) they have certain episodes that have to fall at certain points in relation to events outside the show but still within the universe (i.e. episodes 8 & 9 - "The Well" and "Repairs" respectively - could hardly air prior to Thor: The Dark Work. The same is likely to be true with whatever Captain America tie-in(s) they have planned)

Personally, I don't let it bother me, I manage to keep myself preoccupied during the 'off weeks' (whether it's re-watching the previous episodes, catching up on other shows on our DVR and taking the chance to clear some space, or - this month - yes actually watching the Olympics) - but that's me, I generally don't mind tv shows having breaks.

im suffering all the shows i watch are off right now. only one running is walking dead. blacklist starts next week yay..!!

Luckily I have a few shows to keep occupied with: The Walking Dead, The Following, Arrow, King of the Nerds, Best Ink, Men at Work, The Blacklist will be back soon. It sucks have AOS on a break, but I'm thinking I'll make it.

Like it or not, MLB, the Olympics, the NFL... Those are ratings MONSTERS. People tune in to watch. Networks know they have to schedule TV series' around them. I personally wouldn't want my show that's already dropping in ratings going head to head with the Olympics. And for Fox, MLB and the NFL are big money makers.

I understand it sucks that shows are on break, but it makes sense. These networks make more money than any of us could dream, obviously they know what they're doing. Especially the ABC/Disney/Marvel decision makers.

And that was exactly my point, not "ohh they should make ten more episodes so there's no breaks"
thanks for agreeing with me :o
