Actually that was about as comic accurate an origin suit as anyone could ever hope for of the classic Iron Man suit, and Deathlok was never conceived of as a build as you go construct.
Never expected a full on comic Deathlok but a metal peg leg and a concealed eye implant sure as hell is less than I expected. Why drag it out when the ratings were suffering? Mind you the episode was great, but why not leave the audience something exciting to talk about for a month?

to suddenly attract viewers who weren't here already. The reason for the break is the Winter Olympics. If it had not been for that it would have likely been a week between episodes.
Somehow, I doubt that even a comic-book accurate Deathlok would have given the audience "something exciting to talk about for a month."
"Oh, look....it's a cyborg." And...?
Hey, I used to collect Luther Manning-era Deathlok, but he was never a major player in fandom. This proto-Deathlok we saw tonight is a perfectly serviceable first step towards the full-on cyborg assassin we know from the comic books in future episodes. But at the end of the day, he's still just a cyborg. Nothing particularlyto suddenly attract viewers who weren't here already.
Perhaps I'm slightly delusional but in a show that has been very muted about fantastic MCU things surely it would have generated a positive buzz if they'd have had the balls to go full on comic looking Deathlok because he is iconic looking in his own right and would have felt like something worthy of a movie.
Cyborgs are a dime a dozen but Deathlok has that Marvel swag and it's just a shame that they're allegedly milking this like everything else.
I wish this show was more like they approached comics, 6 issue(show) arcs with a few one-offs to separate them.

If anything, the main problem this series doesn't mesh well with the MCU is it has no niche. All the other Marvel movies straddle their genres effortlessly, giving them appeal to both the fans and non fans. Thor is a comic film and a fantasy epic, Cap is a comic film and a espionage action spy flick...
Agents of SHIELD was promised to be a show about the REAL people of Shield, the clean up crews and manpower behind the super people... But instead they've just made superheroic TYPE humans, which is much less interesting. 2 deadly assassin spys, 2 AMAZINGLY intelligent scientists, perfect at everything in their field, one AMAZING hacker who can hack everything... And one super hard ass chief with the biggest heart of gold in the world and virtually no flaws.
These characters simply aren't interesting. I'd rather they were based in an office... Maybe most of them don't even see any real action? I just think there are a million different ways this show could have been done and while it might not be fair to hold a show to account for things it COULD have done, if what it's doing ain't working then it's going to lose viewers, simple as that.
I think part of the problem, is this series came immediately after Avengers. People are CRAZY for superheroes and they want more. A series about the ordinary people in a superhero world, while a great concept, might be too early for most Marvel fans. Now, this Daredevil, Cage, Iron Fist etc tv series? That is more what people want...
But this series is suffering from a major identitity crisis... It isn't quite what the fans want and it doesnt seem to be what the Showrunners claimed it to be.
It doesn't cost a lot of money to print a ****load of comic books. It *does* cost a fortune to film a TV show and/or feature film franchise.![]()

cherokeesam said:You should be patient with Deathlok; I know I will be. I think he's already evolved a long way, and he's still evolving step by step. It's probably only a couple more episodes before we see a more comic-accurate rendition. But as it stands now, I think AOS Deathlok is already more "authentic to canon" than a ton of Marvel characters from the movies.
I would not accuse Marvel of 'milking' anything. If anything, there's gallons of milk left untouched in the Marvek universe that is just begging to be used.
Why delay it till March 4, 2014, when no one watches the Olympics. The Olympics are just a snoozefest for everyone. Why delay it till March 4, 2014, when no one watches the Olympics. The Olympics are just a snoozefest for everyone.
I'm really hoping the captain america tie in episode will be a lot better as I think they were filming at the same whereas Thor was probably in post when AoS started.
is anyone else a little bit disappointed that aside from Maria Hill in the pilot we haven't seen the SHIELD uniforms seen in the Avengers. It seemed especially noticeable at the Hub when everyone was in suits, not uniforms. Has Marvel just given up on those
If you've forgotten what they looked like:

Quinn actually said "all the technology that's inside you" or something to that effect, so it's not just the leg AND this is just the start. You need to remember this isn't a movie, the story isn't all over in one episode, there's plenty more to come. Not much choice with the breaks we are subject to.
It just seems all backwards that an individual cybernetic leg is somehow "Deathlok 5.01" as if Deathlok is nothing more than advanced legs prosthetics.
Yeah, it would depend on the mission, and probably personal preference. Pretty sure all the SHIELD agents in Iron Man were just in plain suits. For that matter, even on the hellicarrier, Coulson was in a suit. Those uniforms may be specific to officers on the flight deck of the helicarrier. We have seen on several occasions SHIELD agents wearing the orange or yellow crew uniforms.
But Coulson was a passenger on the carrier and not part of the crew.Yeah, it would depend on the mission, and probably personal preference. Pretty sure all the SHIELD agents in Iron Man were just in plain suits. For that matter, even on the hellicarrier, Coulson was in a suit.
