Know what I find absolutely hysterical? Half of the posters were worshipping Singer for what he did with X1, X2, and that he concentrates on character development rather than wall to wall action.
Then when the movie didn't meet their standards, they want to get on the Anti-Singer bandwagon in order to look "cool".
There's a reason why internet fanboys aren't film directors. Simply because the majority of them would make the dumbest film possible, as they'd try to include everything about the comics, also they would try to add the campy one liners and a lot of the colorful effects.
Could it work? Possibly. But Superman isn't Batman, Spider-Man, Sin City, or even X-Men. Superman has always been somewhat of a dark/light hearted story about an alien living among humanity and fighting evil.
I wish Singer hadn't gone with the "Vague History" idea. But hey, nothing can be done about it now, so you either love it or you don't, and quite frankly I enjoyed Superman Returns a lot more than Brett Ratner's X-Men 3 which appears to cater more towards the non-stop action loving crowd.
