You have become extremely unpleasant lately. Just because people feel strongly AGAINST this film now, doesn't make them "children". It's funny how you only make this claim while referring to people who dislike this film, but never to the horrible attitudes on display by the "Defenders" of this film.

And since this is the Superman Returns NOT SR and All Other Money Making Endeavors, we ARE focusing on just the film. As is WB.

Well..i don't need to hold peoples hands anymore do i? wasn't some of you sick of me being nice all the time..yeah i was getting **** for it..now i don't care.

yes please because i still dont get it. :)

Dogs,

But that's the point. WB would be idiots if they were just thinking of the film itself.

In this day and age of cinema, it goes beyond that, especially with the advent of DVD. DVD is THE cash cow for the studios now. That's quite important to the game.

336 million dollars worldwide is nothing to laugh at. But, considering the budget, it's nothing to smile at either. It's right in the middle. Disappointment but no flop.

come on guys,dont fight please.

He knows what he´s talking about. People who say this isn´t gonna make money don´t know how these tentpole movies work. Of course it´s better if you make tons of money at the BO cuz it´s a calling card, but at the end of the day it´s not where the real money comes from. They didn´t make any official announcement on the Batman Begins sequel till around the time the DVD was being released, cuz the strong sales were a big deal, a strong indication that people liked the movie and were willing to see more. If the DVD comes and sells very well, I´m gonna have a good laugh at all those who said people hated the movie... By the time the DVD is out, there´s no matter of hype or marketing or the character anymore, the DVD will sell well if people enjoyed the movie.

It´s not "people" who don´t like this movie, it´s mostly Internet fanboys who whine about not seeing Darkseid or whatever. Singer is right when he says the average moviegoer feedback is positive, every poll outside comics-oriented sites is positive on the movie. Anad 200m domestically or even close for ANY movie, particularly in this year, is far from being a terrible result, even if it´s not what the studio was hoping for.

Only because its more recent. DB.. superman had a harder battle..it didn't take long to relauch Batman..19 years to get superman Back on his feet.. look at all the failed attempts..

Yeah, it´s the thing, the complainers can be so insistent and loud that it LOOKS like they´re the majority, but they aren´t. You go to the box office discussions thread, you get the impression the movie´s a horrendous flop and universally hated, but what you mostly see is the same half a dozen people who post all the frikking time.

and right you are. people like this movie. but i am sad that it is not like BB. BB was good for fans and it was hell good for general people.

The Hulk was in a similiar situation. Made crap Box Office returns but was big with Toys & DVDs & all of that stuf & 3 years later even THAT is getting a Sequel regardless of the first ones poor Box Office & it has alot of hate like Superman Returns is getting

We are not the general people..we nit pick it because some of us are hardcore fans. we notice things the genreal public do not see..

the hype is a very tiny small amount.

I think many fans are looking at it the wrong way... I don´t think it´s because a movie isn´t a direct adaptation of a comics storyline, it means the movie gets it wrong... People bitsch and moan about Superman having a son, but they forget actually many old comics toyed with that idea, including the Alan Moore classics For The Man Who Has Everything and Whatever Happened To The Man Of Tomorrow. Not every fan thinks Superman has to punch supervillains to be Superman, the guardian angel angle on Supes is perfectly valid and explored in comics many times.

Wrong. ANYONE who uses "polls" on here as a basis for ANYTHING is deluding him or her selves. So many people, especially the "Defenders", have more than 1 s/n, so those results are VERY skewed. And it is the "Apologists" who take it upon themselves to "Defend" this film in the Complaints Thread. And do a very poor job of it at that.

Making "close to $200 million dollars" is not a good thing when the film COST more than that to make. This thread is full of "spin". Round and round we go....

Yeah, and Hulk has the adding factor that it kept sinking like a rock week after week after the opening weekend, a strong indication of rejection, the same didn´t happen to SR.

First of all, I won´t debate any longer if we keep using terms like "haters" and "apologists". Someone defending the movie doesn´t make him an "apologist" and someone criticizing it doesn´t make him a "hater". It´s just people with different opínions. These labels only serve to turn this into flame wars. Second, the polls, added to the fact the movie has dropped less than 50% almost every post-opening weekend are indication that the general response is positive, and so will be strong DVD sales.
