Ain't It Cool News interview with Dan Slott

No, people who seem to need to have this dark murdering rampage Hulk are ridiculous, really read what he wrote, it makes perfect sense.

It's not like he goes purposely murdering innocents,I understand that.

What about the people inside the buildings he's knocked over? What about the people who don't get out of the way when cars are thrown? What about the people who get his by debris?

It's foolish to say that nobody has ever been killed as a result of Hulk's rampages.

Like Dan said, then Iron Man and the other big guns are guilty of the same thing when they throw people into buildings. And he even countered the argument that they would scan the building before hand, which is utterly insane as well.

But thats just it, its the stories. They were written that way. Bendis didn't right them, but what makes him think he can change that?

I agree with you that it is ridiculous, but so is everything in comics.

Yeah but so is a guy who wraps himself in the american flag and fights crime. And a guy who flies...by his hammer. And...I could go on.

Comics are ridiculous. The question is not about it being ridiculous or not. In reality, yes Hulk would have killed someone by now. But this is the comics, these is about the character. Hulk isn't a killer. Bendis most likely got confused with Ultimate Hulk.:(

Find me the quote where Bendis called Hulk a killer.

There's a difference between people being killed by the Hulk and people getting killed as a result of his rampages.

I gave Gifted a try,and gave it away after my first read.Could not see why people were making it out to be the second coming of Christ.

Yeah, thats another thing, what gives Bendis the right to say what happened in other people's Hulk stories.

Well I guess for me it is two things:

1. Its always been that way for Hulk.

2. Bendis just changes everything other people wrote.

But W/e, because this brought Planet Hulk and that is owning o so very much.

Hmm, wasn't really talking about his comics. Have you ever gave Angel, Buffy, Firefly a chance?

Astonishing wont appeal to you unless youre an xman fan. I know you kinda lost interest in them.:(

He just made that because he needed a reason to have the Iluminati send him to space, but like most of Bendis creations the aftermaths handled by other writers are always so much better.

Sure it's about the heroes,I get that. These guys who run around in spandex are the main characters.

But Marvel's always been about setting their universe in the real world.

I haven't been reading comics for years on end like some of you have,so I can't comment on Hulk stories of old and get into specifics.

But being a newcomer(a year now),I find Bendis' idea totally realistic and one which makes sense.

There's a certain level of reality which in my opinion needs to be respected in order for these fantastic stories to work.Sure comics can be seen as ridiculous, but not in my eyes. It's a place where we see what it would be like if these heroes roamed our world, and Marvel has always been about this.

Again,so how many deaths have Iron Man caused due to fighting villains and throwing people into buildings and such? The Fantastic Four?

Fair enough.I see your point about bystanders getting killed by other heroes.

Still let's not point fingers at Bendis.Planet Hulk was planned out and mentioned long before Illuminati was being mentioned on the internet.

Actually, I will since hes the one that made the Hulk kills comment.

IMO,Hulk's rampages have killed.Not Hulk.

I'm not one of those Bendis bashers. I try not to be.

I enjoy some of his stuff. DD, USM...

But his Hulk thing was changing continuity, and that wasnt cool.:(

Planet Hulk though,.

I leave most of the Bendis bashing to Gambit.

Look, ill just say this. I can see where Bendis and GNR see that. But if we start blaming deaths on the Hulk rampages, its only fair to start blaming deaths on other heroes destructive battles.

Yeah I see what Bendis is saying, but youre right Darth. They'd have to do it for the all the Avenger fights, FF fights, X-Men. They have all had their share of destroying random buildings...

Yup, thats all.

By the way, I see Mr. Slott viewing this thread so I need to go fix my hair.

I love you Dan, I know you are reading this. I know you wanna send me free stuff. I know you wanna do an Ultimate NFL Superpro mini....

:)

Great interview. It looks like Mr. Slott grew up on the same stuff I did. I was definately one of the Byrne 50. I wish the interviewer would've pushed a little more about one of his old-time faves. I would've loved to have heard his take on the current MTU.

Can't wait to see what '07 brings!

I would like to take this time to point out that AICN sucks.:(
