Good, finally some acknowledgment, hopefully more solid info will start trickling in now

Yea it should. Sega's plan was to put this on the back burner in order to push AvP out the door. AvP is a success, so now they'll turn their attention to Aliens: Colonial Marines. Cant wait to get more info. Really looking forward to seeing this game in action.

Didn't this game's future depend on how well AvP did?

I think to a degree. Im sure if AvP came out and tanked, Sega would rethink just how much that license could bring in for them, but the fact still remains that Sega paid a lot of money for that license and they need to start pushing games out in order to see a return. I think Aliens: Colonial Marines would have come out regardless, but with the success of AvP, i think Sega wants to get it out faster.

Good for us! Hopefully we'll see alot of it at E3 this year.

Gearbox Software's Randy Pitchford doesn't want you to think that the house of Borderlands and Duke Nukem Forever forgot about their Aliens game. To reassure us the project is alive, his team flashed screenshots of it at Gearbox's PAX panel.

Aliens Colonial Marines is a Gearbox-developed Aliens shooter of some sort that's been whispered about for a a couple of years but been just about invisible to an eager gaming public.

Pitchford said that his studio is continuing to work with Aliens movie studio 20th Century Fox and Aliens games publisher Sega to bring the project along. But he wasn't able to say anything about how or when the game will come out. He did tease the audience with some Aliens Colonial Marines art, though.

I was bit sad when they had to delayed this. But at least is still alive, I was a bit worried that they will going to cancel the game. But I'm still looking forward to the game, hopefully this one will wash the horrible taste of AVP.

I'm really glad Colonial Marines isn't dead. I'm still really looking forward to it.

I'm glad to see they're at least acknowledging it but I'll save praise for when we see something a bit more concrete. I love Gearbox I just don't want to hype myself up just in case...

Well, I don't think Sega would let Randy show more screenshots or even talk about the game if they weren't still going to put it out.

I don't mean to imply they're being disingenuous or have no intention of releasing it, but just that something seems to keep holding this project up.

There are a few elements they should definately feature in this game in order to distance themselves from AVP. Being able to weld doors shut and setting up barricades for example. Deploying robotic sentry guns in hallways. Riding on the apc and interacting with androids.

My brother showed me this screen last night, and I told him to do this to it and he did. :)

Man, I wish they would have passed up doing that stupid Duke Nukem game, that people only care about because of it's status in infamy, and went more into doing this.

Its a squad based shooter, so each character will have a different ability. You'll have your medic, you'll have the individual who watches the motion tracker and i think i read that you'll be able to wield doors shut and what not. The last time i read a preview on this they were talking about having 4 player co op with each individual controlling a different team member with each team member having a different ability.

I agree 110%. I'll never understand the fascination with bringing Duke Nukem back. I always thought that was a really really dumb character.

so as long as Colonial Marines comes out next year, i will be happy. broke, but happy :yay:

My love of wanting Aliens: Colonial Marines makes me hate that Duke Nukem may have delayed that. :csad:

(And seriously, does anyone really care about Duke Nukem anymore?)

Yes. Everyone still cares about Duke.

:doom: :doom: :doom:

Really? I thought it was basically just one of those nostalgic franchises that people kind of remember, but don't care enough to want a game. I figured the only reason anyone was getting all popped in the pants with this Duke Nukem Forever thing was because it was infamous as being a giant joke or something.
