That Alex Ross cover is beautiful. Wonder if the LCS can get me a copy of that. Has anyone read it yet? Verdict? I really enjoyed Superior right up until the last comic, while fine it was alittle anti-climatic.

I went for the J Scott Campbell cover. I'm a mega fanboy for the guy.

Clash kinda looks like Electro cosplaying as Spider-man. He also reminds me of that one Batman Beyond villain who used sound as a weapon (I forget the name).

I believe it was Shriek, though anytime I think of him I always hear "Sound Wave" in my head for some reason.

So, you guys know about the solicitation saying that Harry is Goblin?

I believe it was a mistake by accident.

It was pretty much a bridge between Superior and ASM. It probably could have been numbered Amazing 0.50 or something. I expect the Anna Maria issue to be resolved quickly.

I also don't really care for where the Black Cat thing is going. How many times has she's messed with Spider-Man's head and now she feels betrayed...? Pfft. Screw her feelings. She dumped him for the Foreigner, Puma and Daredevil.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The Slott/Ramos era is getting stale and the book needs a creative overhaul, not just a reboot. I quite liked the Kaine-themed back-up, short and filler-ish as it was, because Peter read like a real person instead of a walking pratfall. I'd like to see Christos Gage or Chris Yost as writer, and Marcos Martin or Ryan Stegman take over permanently on art duties. The book doesn't need to be super-serious, but it does need a bit more emotional maturity, and while Slott and Ramos occasionally pull off some nice moments, they seem most comfortable when the book is way too goofy to take seriously. It also just needs a fresh perspective in general. Howard Mackie, JMS, and now Slott…. whenever one creator has too much control over the feel and direction of the book, it starts to get very stale after a few years. Time to give some other talent a shot.

Totally disagree.

Granted, this issue was slam bam like the previous issues. Like runawayboulder said, it was transitioning from Superior back to Amazing. I'm still on board with Slott.

How come EVERY other Marvel Character gets a Transition Mini-Series?
Why the unnecessary bogging down in this book?

Also, if the stuff in Uatu's Eye is supposed to be a secret, than why is it being showcased on the first 2 pages?

I really do hope that within the first couple of issues after this one (we know event stuff is on the horizon) they address Pete's feelings towards this whole body switch thing and how so many people he loves didn't notice anything was up. It feels swept under the rug rather fast to be honest.

Anybody else looking forward to "Learning to crawl"????

Based on this past issue, it will be a bit odd. This issue establishes Pete became Spidey 13 years ago. Side note: this makes Pete around 28 years old, and the timing seems to sync with the difference between the original Clone Saga (70's) and the big Clone Saga (90's) being called 5 years, when it was 20 years real time (roughly 4 years=1 year).

Anyway, that puts Spidey starting off around 2001, but the kid at the Spider-Man's 1st wrestling match had a smart phone to take video, which I don't believe was around yet. And the whole thing is extra weird for us old timers who are use to Pete becoming Spidey in the 60's.

But, anyway, yes, I'm interested to see what Slott comes up with, base on his knowledge and use of continuity.

I try not to think about that kind of stuff. That's why I didn't bother with Byrne's Chapter One. All he did was swap out typewriters at the Bugle with PC's and other stupid little details.

If you start to get caught up in those things as a reader you're just ruining the fun experience for yourself.

Spoiler-free answer, please.

Haven't gotten it, and will probably try to settle for a variant because every one is superior to the normal Ramos cover. But is #1 great?

Great, no.

Good, yes.

Like I said earlier. ASM #1 is basically a bridge between the end of Superior and the start of ASM. It could have been a 1-shot epilogue to Superior Spider-Man as Peter starts to move forward. Little things from Superior are either wrapped up or set up to be addressed again soon such as Anna Maria and the Black Cat.

Gotcha. I didn't finish Superior. Ended at like #13. I'm assuming ASM#1 is a good catch-on issue?

Good jumping on point. I highly recommend completing the Superior story. It was some terrific stuff. The ending was a tad dry but overall a very well done story.

Yeah, it doesn't bother me, I get what their doing. Just every once and a while, moments like that jump out at me.

Aloha,
Yes,, the out of synch technology can be an issue for me as well. Those are the sort of things that only "we" old timers would pick up on.. Hey, Its a Brand New Day and a Brand New Century from the Silver Age of Spider-Man. I'm happy to be around to see the changes. Slott has always had a very good grasp on the character.I thing Gage is being groomed as his back up.
Spidey rules

Just got what I believe is the J Scott Campbell variant. It seems to be a common variant. Did everyone else have an amount of these at their stores?

Right, but Flash fought in Vietnam, and Peter saw the World Trade Center come down. So like runaway said, you just have to put that stuff aside. Of course a comic that's been running over half a century will have anachronistic errors. And this is the MU… maybe they just got smart-phone technology earlier.

I must have missed that '13 year' reference. But I like that and appreciate it. I'm glad that establishes Peter as definitively in his late 20's, because I was worried they were trying to de-age him to early 20's post-BND. I'm also glad they're not trying to compress his time as Spidey into 6 or 8 years. There's just too many stories and events and I like there to be some acknowledged passage of time. I always liked the 5 years references in the clone saga. I don't think there's any formula to it though, as Gwen was supposed to be dead two years when she came back as a clone, even though that was only two or three years in real time after her death.

It won't come up, but I'd like to see how many years of MU time has passed since the whole 90's clone-saga, since now it's almost been another twenty years. :wow:
