For the director of WW they need to get the best person for the job, not the best woman for the job. If the best person for the job is a woman, then that's awesome. But these suggestions I've seen don't make any sense. Mary Harron as the WW director? What?

How about we suggest people that are appropriate for the gig, instead of naming all the female directors we can think of...

Guillermo Del Toro or Alfonso Cuaron would be ideal for WW. For that movie, you need someone with a VERY strong background and visuals, and having experience in the fantasy genre helps immensely.

What about Jennifer Yuh, the woman that directed Kung Fu Panda 2.

Hey you said off the beaten path.

Hey... Nice one. My only thing to say is that I think the studios in general are gun shy about giving animated directors big budget projects after JOHN CARTER. Right or wrong, mat this point unless you are Brad Bird that's going to be a strike against them using directors from that film medium.

The Hollywood Reporter says that they are looking for a female director, that's why we are throwing female directors names out there. You can disagree with Warner Brothers but if that's what they are looking for it's what they are looking for.

Keep up. The names of female directors is going on because the Hoollywood Reporter says they are going after a female director. It's not something coming out of a vacuum, WB appears to be going this route.

THR is reporting that WB are indeed looking for a female director.

And that's Hollywood's fault for never giving them a chance. A man who has never directed anything gets to direct the 3rd movie in Star Trek reboot series, I find something like that to be a travesty. He hasn't directed so much as a commercial and he gets a 200 million dollar gig.

If Mark Webb and that Jurassic World guy can go from no budget indies to be visual effects films then so can a female director.
Please don't mistake me for supporting the double standard. In all those cases you've mentioned I'd been apprehensive of their ability to succeed as well.

Tim Story for John Stewart: The Green Lantern with Kevin Hart as the DCCU John Stewart.

MY b this is the first thing I checked today. For the record, the suggested names sound like ****

Can we stop with the pie in the sky choices like Alfonso Cuaron and Del Toro.

I'm not a huge fan of Del Toro's female characters and he's busy and Cuaron is taking a break from visual effects films and probably isn't even interested.

My Francis Lawrence pick is realistic, those two guys are not at all realistic choices.

Icy you do know Cuaron directing a Harry Potter film.

He's likely interested.

How about Patty Jenkins? (Monster) The original Thor 2 director.

Get the woman who did Punisher War Zone. Don't know any other CBM that had a more badass scene then this

In all seriousness, don't get her or watch the movie.
I love how it's clearly a doll in his arms. :funny:

Off the beaten path names were being sourced as we know that names like Patty Jenkins or Bigelow are a given. Due diligence before going into automated reactionary response mode might be some good advice, that of course I know you won't take.

Kathryn Bigelow, Patty Jenkins, and Angelina Jolie.

Those are my suggestions, and I'm sticking by them.

When he was asked about Fantastic Beasts, this was his answer.
“[Directing Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban] was a very beautiful experience for me. I have a lot of love for that universe and I tremendously admire JK Rowling, but today, for the present, projects based around lots of visual effects don’t attract me. I’m coming out of a five-year process of doing visual effects and now I sort of want to clean my palate of that a little bit.”

Bigelow is probably the most suggested one on here.

And I love her too.

I'd trust Angelina Jolie. I think she would give us something really neat because she is a genuine fan of things sci fi/fantasy.

Bruce Timm should direct a Batfleck film if Batfleck doesn't wanna do it.

Did you not read about him taking a break from visual effects films and he probably turned down Fantastic Beasts.
Yup I remember that. That was one of the main reasons why he turned down the offer.

Though my vote is still for Doug Liman.

I would love Bigelow, but would she do it? She seems to care about doing her movies. ( and she declined the spiderman reboot apparently? )

Probably not, but she did do that one sci-fi film. I forgot the name of it.

I'd forgotten Jolie was a director now. Interesting. Was her war film any good?

Fun fact: Bigelow beat her ex-husband James Cameron for Best Picture with The Hurt Locker.

AgIn, I would have balked at the suggestion just a day ago, but I saw the trailer for UNBROKEN in a theater We'd. and now I'm like... "Hmm... Maybe." That being said her directorial work hasn't blown me away yet either. UNBROKEN might be agame changer on that front though.
